그렇죠… 얼마 전에 어느 나라에서 홀로 죽음을 맞이했던 마지막 남은 원시부족이 생각나네요. 그 부족의 마지막 생존자였는데, 26년을 혼자 살다가 새 깃털로 자신의 몸 주변을 조촐하게 장식하고 숨을 거뒀다고 해요.

아마존에 한 마지막 부족원이 홀로 26년을 버티다 숨지는 일이 최근에 있었죠 그 부족원 시체 주위에는 여러색의 깃털이 흩뿌려져 있었고 이는 마지막 부족원 본인이 자신의 장례식을 준비한것으로 드러났죠. 많이 다르겠지만 혼자남아 자신의 장례식을 준비할때 느끼는 외로움과 쓸쓸함은 조금은 노래로 알거같네요.

There was no funeral for the last survivor. There was no one left to give her one, to mourn her passing as she had done for so many, so many times before. She had sang, danced, prayed, mourned, cried, laughed - she had rejoiced the passing of a few - but there was no one to cry or pray for her as she drifted away into oblivion. So this is what it felt like, she thought as her eyes drifted closed, this wasn’t too bad. It’s like falling asleep. And it was. There was no crying for the last survivor- no tears or laughter or prayers of peace. There was only silence - blissful, perfect silence and the music that came with it. The rustling of trees and the smell of the lavender fields, the feel of the wind like velvet on the skin. This isn’t so bad at all, she thought again, a small smile tugging at her lips, it’s almost like a memory. And she wasn’t surprised when the distant sound of laughter hit her ears. When the quiet, playful voice of her friend told her it was about time. She wasn’t surprised to hear her mother, or her father or her brothers and sister, she wasn’t surprised to feel their arms wrap around her in a warm embrace. There was no funeral for the last survival. No one mourned her passing. But they all rejoiced when she joined them at last.

한국에도 슬슬 이런 음악들이 알려지기 시작하는군요. 플리 잘 들었습니다. emotional music, 혹은 ambient music이라 불리는 장르인데 혹 관심이 있으신 분들은 다음과 같은 작곡가분들의 음악도 들어보세요 Luke richards (최근 나온 앨범에 명곡들이 많습니다.) Tony anderson (개인적으로 이 장르에서 가장 완성도 높은 실력을 가진 작곡가라 생각합니다.) Ludovico Einaudi (이분은 피아노, 클래식 쪽으로 유명하신 분입니다.) Tracey Chattaway (주옥 같은 명곡들이 많습니다. 슬프기보단 가슴이 벅차오른다고 해야할까요.) Mattia Cupelli Marcus Warner (이분은 요즘 가사 있는 노래들도 만드십니다.) + 류이치 사카모토님의 음악과 한스 짐머님의 음악도 위의 장르들과 그 목적은 상당히 비슷한 것 같습니다. 개인적으로 가사 없는 음악은 우울증과 스트레스 완화, 심리적 건강, 혹은 내면적 성장에 큰 도움을 준다고 생각합니다 모두 행복한 하루 되세요

어찌보면 매일매일 아포칼립스같은 하루를 살고 있는 현대인들에게는 포스트 아포칼립스라는 배경이 의외의 힘을 주는 것 같아요. 상실과 함께 느껴지는 지독히 긴 회복의 시간이 느껴진다고 해야하나요. 그 회복의 시간 후에는 또 다른 생명이 움틀꺼라는 희망도 느껴지기에 참 복합적인 감정이 드는게 포스트 아포칼립스인 것 같아요. 새벽에 듣기 참 좋아요. ㅎㅎ

초면이지만..꼭 전해드리고 싶어서 댓글 적어요. 저는 올해 2월달에 사람에게 큰 상처를 받은 일로 심리상담을 지금까지 받고있어요. 언제까지 이래야 할까 답답하고 막막하고 어제까지도 나는 벗어나지 못했다는 죄책감에 너무 힘들었어요. 근데 무심코 이 영상을 보면서 사람들의 댓글을 읽는데 죽어가는 내가 보였어요. 정확히는 힘들고 고통받았던 내가 평온하게 죽어가고 있었어요. 그 모습을 보고 헤어지고 싶었던 내 모습이니 죽어달라고 말하고 싶었지안 안쓰러운 나 자신이기도 해서 그러지 못했어요. 다만 사람들의 말처럼 그냥 전지자의 시점처럼 지켜봐 주기로 했어요 고통받고 힘들었던 내가 햇빛과 평온 속에서 죽어가는 모습을. 되게 따뜻하고 치유되는 느낌이 들어요..다들 이게 무슨 소린가 싶겠죠 아마?ㅋㅋ 저도 이런 이미지? 기분이 한순간에 스쳐지나간건 처음이라 어리둥절해요 ㅎ.. 하지만 제가 더 나아질 거란 희망이 생겼어요 감사합니다

새벽에 들으니까... 인류 마지막 생존자인 걸 깨닫고 터덜하게 홀로 식물로 뒤덮힌 무너진 전철안에 앉아 있는데 잎 사이로 비춰지는 새벽빛이 그동안 살기위해 발버둥쳤던 날들과 동료들을 주마등처럼 비추면서 곁에 한 사람 남아있지 않는 지금이 고독하게 느껴지면서도 한편으로는 모두의 가는 길을 지켜보고 후에 기다리고 있을 거라는 느낌이 들어서 편안하고 안심이 되기도 합니다. 현재 삶을 되돌아보게 되었던 것도 같습니다. 감사합니다.

와 새벽에 가족 다 자고 있고 공부하면서 듣는데 진짜 세상에 혼자 남겨진 느낌이다.... 중간고사 3주 남았는데 이것저것 생각해보게 되고 홀로 남겨지면 어떤 기분일까, 과연 내가 올바른 길을 가고 있는게 맞는가, 나중에 커서 세상을 떠나기 직전에 이 플리를 들으면서 후회하지 않을 자신이 있을까, 그때 이 플리를 듣고 있다면 무슨 기분일까 머릿속이 복잡해지고 내가 과연 잘 해낼 수 있을까, 미래에는 어떤일을 하고 있을까 내가 눈을 감는 순간에 내 옆에 누가 있을까..(아무도 없는건 아니겠지ㅋㅋ) 미래가 두려워 지고... 30분동안 그냥 책상에 앉아 있다가 플리 끝나고 오히려 가뿐해짐. 30분동안 생각하고 있다가 나는 내가 가는 길의 확신을 갖게 되었음. 두근두근 하면서도 아련하고 그리워지고....가끔 들으러 와야겠다.

She sat on the ledge of an abandoned building, most buildings looked just like this one. Left alone to crumble to the ground, no one to care for them. How long has it been since the world fell apart? Since the apocalypse happened and ended? How long ago was it that people celebrated these very buildings being built? Were there any other survivors? She sat wondering these things, as she had many times before. She ran her hand against the old and broken cement, the gritty dust of what had once been something of someone's home stuck to her pale and calloused fingers. Home. It was such a foreign word in this age. It took two thousand years to build seven billion homes but only one week for them all to be destroyed and forgotten. Thoughts of her own home caused a small tugging at the corners of her lips, warm memories flooded her thoughts as she let out a short chuckle. Standing up she looked at the world around her, taking it all in for the final time. She finally let a genuine smile take over as she looked at the sunset one last time. “Thank you, farewell” she muttered as she spread her arms out as far as she could and tilted her body forward just enough for gravity to pull her down... No one but the dying sun was there for the death of the last survivor, she trusted the earth to give her a proper burial over time. This was the death of the last survivor, one the earth would hold dear as it mourned it's now lifeless land. thanks for reading! fyi, i'm likely to change apart of this story every time i come back to this video so be on the look out!

@@daymoon_playlist 외로움과 끝까지 싸웠을 것 같네요... 8개월 타고 지금은 내려서 쉬고 한달 뒤에 또 타러가야되지만 진짜 외로움이라는게 사람을 미치게 하는거라서... 저 부족민을 보니까 인간은 어디까지 견딜 수 있게 설계되었나 싶어요... 전 한계가 오더라고요 사실. 그리고 스스로 자신의 죽음을 준비한다는게 정말 말도 못하게 외로울 것 같습니다. 저는 낮달님 덕분에 덜 외롭게 일했던 것 같네요 ^^!

언젠가 이 글이 누군가에게 읽혀질지 안읽혀질지 확신할 수는 없지만 인류의 마지막인 오늘을 담기 위해 이렇게 글을 써봅니다. 이 별은 아름다운 별이었어요. 사람들은 서로를 사랑하며 살아갔고 여러 가지의 형태로 이루어진 행복들이 얽혀서 긴 시간을 우리는 살아왔었죠. 그랬던 인류는 아주 조금씩 무너져내리기 시작했어요. 내가 사랑하는 사람도 내가 원망했던 사람도 안면조차 없었던 사람도 죽어갔어요. 그렇게 저를 제외한 모든 사람들이 죽고 이 세게의 멸망도 끝이 난 시점 저는 제가 조금씩 죽어가고 있음을 얼마전부터 느끼기 시작했어요. 그리고 아마도 저의 마지막이자 인류의 마지막은 아마 오늘이 되지 않을까 싶어요. 저는 그렇게 말하고 싶습니다. 이 생을 살면서 두려웠던 일도 행복했던 일도 후회했던 일도 정말 많았지만 지금 이렇게 죽는것이 여한이 없다고요. 저는 제가 운이 매우 좋았다고 생각해요. 나름 사랑하는 사람도 있었고 할 수 있는 만큼 하고 싶은 것들도 해보았고 그리고 사실 누가 이런 장면을 보겠어요. 인류의 마지막이자 멸망하고 난 세계 이후의 모습을. 그러니 더더욱 지금 이 죽음이 슬프지 않고 행복한 죽음이라 자부할 수 있어요. 있잖아요. 어릴때는 사실 죽음이라는게 무서웠어요. 내가 떠나고 나면 남아있는 사람들은 어쩌지, 내가 못했던 것들이 있으면 어떡하지, 죽으면 어떻게 되는거지 이런 생각들을 종종 했었는데 조금은... 그러니까 아주 조금은 저는 죽음을 기다려왔던 건지도 모르겠어요. 솔직하게 혼자 지내는게 조금은 심심했거든요. 이 죽음이 끝나고 나면 제가 보고 싶어했던 사람들을 만날 수 있겠죠? 사람들에게 말해줘야겠네요. 세계 멸망 후의 세계는 생각과는 조금 다르다고. 그리고 그것도 그것대로 나름 아름다웠었던 것 같다고 말이예요. 정말 해주고 싶은 말이 많지만 꾹꾹 참았다가 다 만나면 해줄려구요. 이 글을 쓰고 있는 와중 제 다리와 손끝이 점점 힘이 들어가질 않고 눈이 점점 감기는 것 같아요. 이젠 정말 이 글을 마무리 해야할 시간인가봐요. 이 글을 읽고 있는 당신에게 전하고 싶어요. 이 세계는 그 누구보다 눈부셨고 세계의 멸망은 두려웠지만 멸망 이후의 세계는 아름다웠다고. 그리고 인류의 마지막 인간은 생각보다 행복하게 그 생을 마무리 하고 잠에 든다고 말이예요. 그럼 안녕. 모두 잘자요. . . . . .

무수한 발걸음이 다녀간 뒤로 수십년이 흘러 무성한 숲이 되어야만 했던 기차역에 도달한 나는, 어깨에 짊어진 무거운 배낭을 똑바로 메기 위하여 잠시 소총을 바닥에 내려두기로 하고서 허리를 숙였다. "아." 타일 위로 수북하게 자라난 줄기 식물들로 인해 눈치 채지 못했던 백골 하나와 눈이 마주쳤다. ..정확히는 뻥 뚫려 있어 그 빈자리를 마구잡이로 자라난 풀들로 매꿔진 눈구멍 말이다. 처음 지하 벙커에서 몇십년 만에 기어나왔을 때에 백골을 마주했을 때보단 확실히 적응된 건지, 이제는 짧은 감탄사로 시시콜콜하게 반응하게 되었다. 그 백골 주변 무성한 잎사귀들을 가죽 장갑을 낀 손으로 들쳐보자 보이는 참담하고 치열한 흔적들. 살아남고자 했지만 끝내 쓸쓸히 눈을 감게 되었구나. 나는 내 소총을 그 백골의 옆에 가지런히 내려두고서 몸을 일으킨 뒤, 두어번 가볍게 들썩여 배낭을 편하게 메었다. 썩은 물을 끓이기 위한 스텐 냄비, 유통기한 지난 음식 재료들과 통조림들, 가방 위에 밧줄로 꽁꽁 묶은 침낭, 가방 옆 주머니에 꽃아둔 야전삽따위가 내는 덜걱덜걱대는 소음이 멎을 때 까지 그 자리에서 가만히 서있었다. 소음이 끝난 후 사방에 깔리는 고요한 정적. 그것이 불안에서 안심이 되기까지 참 시간이 많이도 걸렸었다. 눈을 감으며 숨을 깊게 들이쉰 후, 방독면 필터를 잠시 빼서 필터의 상태를 잠시 점검하다가 재빠르게 필터를 도로 끼워넣었다. 처음 감염자들과의 직접적인 사투로 인하여 감염이 되던 바이러스는, 어느새 수많은 변이를 거쳐 이젠 공기중으로도 치명적이게 되었으므로 매주마다 새로운 방독면의 필터가 필요했다. 지금까지는 시체들의 품속에서 갈무리 해온 필터들이 충분했기 때문에 걱정이 되지 않았지만.. "하나. 둘. 셋. 넷 ···" 오늘 여정을 떠나기 전 미리 확인했던 시점. 나의 수명은 무려 28일이나 남아있었다. 당장에 주변 군사시설을 뒤져보면 군용 방독면과 필터를 대량으로 얻을 수 있겠지만, 이젠 신체의 상태도 많이 안 좋아졌다. 그것들을 얻는다고 해서 그것만큼 내 수명이 늘어난단 소리가 아니란 뜻이었다. 그래서 나는 지금 어디로 가느냐고? 푸른 개활지를 정처없이 걷던 중 발에 무언가가 채인 적 있었다. 오래 된 기찻길이었다. 나는 그것에 홀리기라도 한듯이, 당장 채비를 마치고서 여정을 떠나게 되었다. 처음엔 각종 무기를 챙기고 다녔지만. 이곳에 생존자는 오직 나 하나뿐이란걸 깨달은 이후 부턴 고작 탄창에 30발의 총알을 채운 소총 한 자루뿐만을 들고 다니게 되었다. 지금 내가 있는 이곳이 그렇게 밤새 걷다가 새벽이 되어서야 도착한 첫 기차역. 이곳엔 아직 완전한 백골화가 진행되지 않는 시체 여러구둘을 볼 수 있었다. 곳곳에 사람의 흔적이 있었으며, 그 흔적은 오직 한 곳으로 이어져 있었다. 나는 또 한 번 홀린 듯 그 흔적을 따라갔다. ··· 발자국이었다. 아직 포자와 덩쿨 줄기들이 덮어 지우지 못한 사람의 선명한 발자국. 하지만 그 발걸음은 어딘가 위태롭고 처량하게 느껴졌다. 쓸쓸하며 가슴 한구석이 먹먹해진다. 이 사람은 자신이 마지막 생존자라고 생각하고 있었을까, 이 사람도 내심 사람을 만날 수 있단 희망으로 부터 파생 되어진 열정 하나로 지금까지 버텨왔던 걸까. 나는 그이의 발자국을 망치고 싶지 않아 비탈길 위로 걸어갔다. 조금 더 걷자 눈에 띄이는 기생식물들로 뒤덮인 기차. ..아니, 더 가까이 가기 전까지 그것이 기차인줄도 구분하지 못할 정도로 푸르르며 기다랗고 네모난 구조물이었다. 나는 먹먹해져오는 가슴을 주먹으로 툭툭 치고서 기차의 옆면으로 걸어갔다. 사람의 흔적을 보고서 설레는 마음으로 무작정 걸어왔으면서, 그것을 마주하려니 덜컥 겁이 났기 때문에. 나는 소총을 두 손으로 쥐어 언제든 방아쇠를 당길 자세를 잡고 기차 내부로 들어갔다. 기차 내부는 내 기억속의 그 모습 그대로 였다. ..마치 오래 된 모래장 놀이터와 같이 식물들이 짙게 자리잡은 것만 뺀다면. 나는 주변을 둘러보던 중 정말 놀라지 않을 수 없던 장면을 목도하고야 말았다. 너무나도 멀쩡한 모습으로 너무나도 멀쩡한 옷들을 갖춰입고, 금방이라도 깨어날 듯 편안히 눈을 감고서 기차의 바닥에 누워있는 사람을 보았다. 그의 주변엔 이미 모두 녹아내려, 불이 꺼진 촛불 두어개와 초록빛 풀숲 사이 존재감을 드러내고 있는 붉은 장미꽃들 ··· 만약 이 사람이 홀로 마지막을 보낸거라면, 그이는 자신의 장례식을 스스로 준비했던 것까. 수많은 생각에 빠져 미처 발견하지 못했던 종잇장 하나를 발견한 나는 그것을 주워 펼쳐보았다. 고맙습니다 잉크가 다 닳은 펜으로 꾹꾹 눌러 쓴 다섯글자. 이 사람은 자신이 마지막 생존자란걸 이해하고 받아들였음에도 어째서 이런 유언장을 남겼던 걸까. 마지막까지 하나의 인격체로 남고 싶었을까? 아니면.. 자신이 혼자가 아니라고 끝까지 굳게 믿고 싶었던 걸까? 자신이 마지막 생존자란 것을 끝까지 부정했던 사람의 시체 앞에 선 또 다른 마지막 생존자. 해가 기울며 깨진 창문가 유리 틈새로 햇볕이 조금씩 들어차고, 내가 들고 있던 종잇장 위를 차분하게 비쳐오니 어두웠던 공간에선 보이지 않던 것이 보였다. 깊은 웅덩이를 만들다 못해 그 자리에 굳어져가 자국을 남기고야만 그이의 눈물 자국들. 나는 종이를 다시 가지런히 접어 그이의 옆에 내려두었다. 그리고 나 역시도 그이의 옆에 풀썩 주저앉았다. "..이봐요, 잠깐만 시간 있으면 내 얘기 좀 들어줄래요?" 그이는 고개를 끄덕였고, 나는 갑갑했던 방독면을 벗어 내 발치에서 멀리 던져버렸다. 그 후에 두 눈을 감고서 숨을 깊게 들이쉰 나는 길고 긴 이야기를 시작하기 위해서, 그이의 옆자리에 제일 편안한 자세로 드러누웠다. ···· "고마워요."

이 시리즈를 보면서 제가 망상 좀 해봤습니다 길어요📜🖋 혼자 남겨진 이후 주인공은 처음엔 이 사실을 부정했지만 이내 곧 잘 적응해 나갔을 겁니다. 식료품점에서 끼니를 때우기도 하고 상황이 안좋을 땐 직접 사냥도 했겠죠. 사람이 없으니 환경은 빠른 속도로 회복되었겠죠. 이리저리 떠돌며 생활하던 주인공은 정착생활을 하기로 결심합니다. 심심하니 취미생활도 만듭니다. 바로 작물기르기랑 동물 기르기! 우연히 만난 강아지 한마리와 풀을 뜯고 있는 농장동물들을 기르면서 무료한 생활을 이어나갑니다. 그렇게 몇년이 지나고 주인공은 사람이 그리워집니다. 대화를 하고 웃고 떠들며 사랑을 나눌, 사랑이 아니더라도 이 고난을 나눌 사람이 있었으면 좋겠다고 생각합니다. 결국 주인공은 키우던 가축들을 풀어주고 강아지 한마리와 식량과 각종 물품들을 챙겨 일말의 희망을 갖고 사람을 찾으러 떠납니다. 전국을 돌아다니며 살펴보았지만 사람이 있는 흔적은 발견하지 못 했습니다. 하지만 혹시나 하는 마음에 주인공이 갔던 장소에 표식을 남겨둡니다. 한국어와 영어로 생존자를 찾고 있고 앞으로 나는 어떤 계획이 있고 어디로 갈 건지 적어둡니다. 추가로 달의 모양까지. 날짜를 남겨두고 싶었지만 날짜를 놓친지 오래되서... 아무튼 한국을 다 돌아다니는데 채감상 100년은 걸린 것 같은데 앞으로가 막막해 집니다. 다행히 아직 이동수단이 남아있어 그나마 체감상 100년 정도가? 걸린거지 그마저도 없었으면 아예 사람을 찾아나설 엄두도 내지 않았을 겁니다. 그리고 순간순간의 절망을 이겨내게 해준 강아지가 도중에 무지개 다리를 건넜습니다. 그러고 얼마 지나지 않아 이번엔 고양이를 만났고 길들이기에 성공을 합니다. 주인공은 고양이와 함께 바다를 건너 다른 나라로 가기로 결정합니다. 이번엔 긴 항해가 될 것 같네요. 다행히 주인공은 어릴때 바다와 인연이 있어 배를 운전하는 것은 생각보다 어렵지는 않았습니다. 하지만 몇 번의 큰 위기가 오갔지요. 어쨋든 무사히 육지에 도착하게되고 혼자서 항해하는 것은 사람이 못 할 짓이라고 생각하며 이 땅에서 죽을 때까지 살자고 마음을 먹고 다시 사람을 찾으러 나섭니다. 아마 미국, 캐나다 쪽인 것 같습니다. 영어로 적힌 간판들이 보이네요. 그렇게 몇년이 흐렸네요. 주인공은 아직까지 사람도 흔적도 찾지 못했습니다. 더군다나 너무 무리를 했는지 몸도 예전같지가 않다는 걸 느낍니다. 몇 번 의 사계절이 지나고 고양이도 주인공의 곁을 떠넙니다. 주인공도 늙어갑니다. 아직 더 찾을 곳이 남았지만 주인공은 이제 이 짓이 지겨워졌습니다. 많이 지쳤고 외롭습니다. 결국 주인공이 내린 결론은 '사람은 나밖에 없다' 입니다. 슬프게도 살아가야 될 이유를 잃었고 이 지겨운 삶을 끝내고 싶어집니다. 주인공은 자신의 마지막을 준비합니다. 맛있는 것도 먹고 풍경도 구경하고 낚시도 하고, 주인공이 좋아하는 것들이었지만 혼자하니 지루해집니다. 오히려 울적해지네요. 마지막으로 샤워를 하고 제일 좋아하는 보드라운 잠옷을 갈아입고 밤하늘의 별을 보다 잠듭니다. 주인공은 내일 오전과 오후 사이 따뜻한 햇살을 맞으며 눈을 감기로 결정합니다. 관을 만들까 생각을 했지만 어차피 추모해줄 사람도 없고 답답할 것 같아 그냥 들판에 이불을 깔고 꽃 몇 송이 꺾어다 장식을 합니다. 그리고 진짜 호옥시나 몰라 묘비를 만들어 흔적을 남깁니다. 마지막이 이렇게 끝날 줄 몰랐네요. 기분이 싱숭생숭해집니다. 나의 마지막인데 모든 것이 완벽한 날씨에다 평화로운 풍경까지 비현실적이게 느껴집니다. 주인공은 떠돌이 생활을 할 때 약국에서 찾은 약들을 꺼냅니다. 이 정도 양이면 푹 잘 수 있겠네요. 주인공은 '여기서 이걸 먹으면 나를 치료해줄 사람도 없고 치료해줄 수도 없다. 그냥 여기서 끝인 것 이다.' 생각하고 먹습니다. 주마등이 스쳐갑니다. 어릴때의 기억, 종말 후의 기억 등등... 갑자기 살고 싶어진 주인공은 먹었던 약을 토해내지만 그럼에도 불구하고 약효과가 올라와 참지 못 하고 잠에들어버립니다. 환청인지 모르겠지만 마지막 의식이 끊기기 전에 사람 발 소리와 목소리를 들은 것 같습니다. 그렇게 주인공의 의식은 끊겨버립니다.

마지막 노래 들으면서 읽었는데 어떻게 소름돋게 딱 의식이 흐려져 갑니다 부분에 음악이 조용해지는 부분을 들으면서 끝나는 부분을 읽게 되었거든요 감명깊었습니다 한 사람의 일대기를 짧게 요약해서 쓴 글이지만 머릿속에서 내가 만들어낸 그 주인공에 공감하게 되고 굉장히 몰입됐습니다

Honestly, this doesn't really tell of the final funeral for me, at least not in a sad way. For me this is more like, at the end of a video game, you're one of the side characters saying your last goodbyes to the protagonist. It might be at a feast, or at the gate of a village, or a bridge, or a campfire, but you're all gathered together, giving hugs and a gift each, a pat on the back, an achievement sword, or a new armour set. A handshake. Encouragement to keep going, cos they've finished the game, but their own journey is far from over. you watch them make their way around the raid party, knowing you, or at least this version of you, might never see them again, but at least you know them now. Hopefully they don't forget you, but even if they do, at least you've had an opportunity to impact their story, their journey, their symphony. Andeven as they fade away, you're happy with that.

「그래 이 정도면 많이 버틴거겠지.」 나는 이 늙은 신체를 이끌고는 무덤가 근처 밴치에 앉아 그대로 생각에 잠겼다. 「내가 마지막으로 사람을 본적이 언제지..」 내 기억이 아득해지며 머릿속이 답답했지만. 나는 생각하려 노력했다. ... 도시에 무성하게 자리 잡은 풀들이 바람에 흩날리는 소리와 풀벌레의 소리가 묵묵히 도시를 에워쌓았다. 「뭐. 상관은 없지.. 어차피 죽을 텐데,..」 아무도 듣지를 않지만 나는 미치지 않기 위해 혼자 말하고 또 혼자 말했다. ... 노을이 나를 비췄다. 마치 하늘에 있던 전우들.. 그리고 가족들이 부르는 것 같았다. 난... 그 부름에 응답하듯이 천천히 관속에서 내가 생전에 좋아하던 꽃송이를 쥔 체 그대로 슬며시 눈을 감았다. 「처음에는 모든 게 꿈이었으면 좋았는데.. 뭐~.. 이런 것도 나쁘지 않은 경험이었어.」

그날은 왠지 처음 느끼는 감정이 드는 날이었다. 뭐라고 해야 할까. 말로 표현하지 못하겠다. 어느 때와 다름없이 잠자리에서 일어나 하루를 맞이한다. 늘 같던 햇빛이 오늘 따라 눈부시고, 아름다웠다. 양쪽으로 높은 폐허가 나란히 줄지어 선 넓은 도로를 따라 무작정 걸었다. 걷고 또 걸었다. 분명 이곳도 옛 주인들이 부르는 명칭이 있었을 테지. 항상 걷던 길. 근데 오늘은 무언가 특별하게 느껴졌다. 칙칙한 회색 콘크리트 구조물을 뒤덮은 이끼도, 길가에 버려진 고철 덩어리 사이로 피어난 민들레도. 모든 것이 평소보다 더 아름다워 보였다. 마치 신이 이 모습들을 조금이라도 더 담아두라는 듯이. 그렇게 특별한 듯 무난한 듯한 하루를 보내고 다시 나의 자리로 돌아왔다. 늘 그러하듯 저물어 가던 석양도 평소와 다르게 더 아름다웠다. 지고 또 지는 해를 바라보며 조용히 자리에 몸을 뉘었다. 그러자 시야가 점점 어두워지더니, 조용히 어둠에 잠식되어 가고 있었다. 아침에 느낀 감정이 무슨 감정인지 이제 알 것 같았다. 오늘은 신이 나를 데리러 오는 날이었다. 받아들이기로 하였다. 조용히 눈을 감고, 자리에 누워서, 신이 나를 데리러 올 때까지 기다렸다. 오늘 본 풍경들이 눈앞에 스쳐 지나갔다. 아침의 일출, 벽에 자라난 담쟁이, 돌 틈 사이로 피어난 이름 모를 꽃, 햇빛을 받아 반짝이는 정체 모를 조각상, 저녁의 석양. 이제 나는 떠난다. 이 세상을 뒤로 하고 떠난다. 돌아오지 않을 여행을 떠난다. 영원한 안식을 위해 떠난다. 영원한 여행이 시작되는 순간, 나는 전속력으로 달려나갈 테다. 나를 가두고 있던 내 몸으로부터, 어둡고 갑갑한 감옥으로부터...

종종 죽음에 대해 막연한 두려움이 느껴져요. 내가 죽으면 이 세계는 끝나는 걸까... 자기 전 눈을 감는 것처럼 죽기 전 눈을 감으면 온 세상이 캄캄해져서 날 둘러싸고 있던 모든 게 사라지는 걸까? 나는 어떻게 되는 걸까. 그러다 불안해진 마음을 진정시키려 합리화해봤어요. 나이가 들면서 죽음에 대해 무뎌지고 체념하게 될 거라고. 아주 먼 미래에 내가 최후의 눈을 감을 땐 이만하면 됐다. 잘 살았다. 하고 편안히 눈을 감을 수 있을 거라고. 마치 이 플리는 그 미래에 내 모습을 보고 온 느낌이에요,,, 그리고 삶에 만족하고 천천히 숨이 꺼져갈 수 있는 사람이 되기 위해 하루하루를 열심히 살아야겠다는 다짐으로 귀결되더라고요. 또 코로나처럼 언제 우리 삶에 재난, 재앙이 닥쳐서 우리가 아포칼립스 주인공이 될지 모르는 일이잖아요. 그때 가서 후회하기엔 너무 늦다는 걸 뼈저리게 깨달아서 그런지, 다신 오지 않을 것 같던 마스크를 벗고 생활하는 평범한 날들을 봐서인지, 오늘의 행복을 내일로 미루지 말자는 생각도 드는 요즘이네요. 좋은 플리 감사합니다. 내일은 꽃을 좀 사야겠어요ㅎㅎ

I just wanted to put this on in the background while I read but I didn't expect it to hit like a truck. The idea of someone all alone in a broken world, with nobody to hold their hand as they passed. Someone who held on for so long in spite of everything, even as the world fell apart around them they endured. Someone taking their final breaths all alone, knowing that their departure marks the end of us, the end of this little speck of time on this planet. I hope, in spite of how it may seem right now, that we can hold on, that we can push through the hardships and come out stronger on the other side. After all, if there's one thing humans have always been good at, it is enduring. The end will come, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even for a million tomorrows, but it will come, and when it does I hope that we can greet it with a smile and know that we had a hell of a run.

Once in a world full of delight, everyone had their dreams, hopes and goals. But alas like everything, it all comes to an end. In the past the world brimming with new inventions and techonology, we forget to take a moment and appreaciate mother nature. As the last sundown takes its place, so does the last breath of the last human, as nature grieves, tears falling down their cheeks "Is this what death feels like?" They asked a question that will never be answered. As many people take their last breath, so do they. Watching the sun go down for the last time hurts but you feel a sense of relief as the mental pain finally goes away. Alas, the last human takes their last breath. (this sucks)

This is perfect, in 2020 when the world felt a bit apocalyptic I made a playlist of songs that felt perfect for that specific apocalyptic feeling but I had a hard time finding many of the right songs to put on there, I think this video captures it all really well. This place feels very comfortable. I am currently experiencing a brain infection. I don’t really feel the full physical effects of it, maybe I never will, maybe I’ll heal naturally. Lately I’ve been getting news of people dying of these kinds of infections, it’s a little bit scary sometimes. But I think either way my life goes, if I have a few years to live, or even months, I will live well and accept my situation gracefully. I am okay with however it goes. 🍀🍀🐰

There is something about the beginning with the phone and 'low battery' warnings, along with Lavender (new favorite song btw) that just makes me feel a way I've never felt before... that calm yet sorrowful realization that this moment is the end...dying peacefully among nature and God's beautifully crafted land. It's very surreal, and makes me feel like crying, just because of the impact thr music makes too. (Emotions are confusing)

The wind blew lightly towards me, bringing fluttering storm of dried leaves. Their shades dancing under the sunset's glow. I've been laying down for quite a while. Can't even feel my legs anymore. I started to contemplate, as the night sky unveiled the stars above me. The morning fog that linger after a downpour, the salty smell of the ocean, the shifting ice floes, campfire's crackle, snowfall... The sky is clear tonight. I can see Orion right above my head. Betelguese above and Rigel below. His three-star belt pointing towards the bright Sirius on one end, Aldebaran and Pleiades on the other one. A meteor. Glimmering like embers from the furnace.

Hey, Journal. Mom, dad, whoever else is looking over my shoulder and reading this. I'm the last person alive. Jackson just died. He went out peacefully, in his sleep wrapped up in all of the soft clothes I could find. I ate soup by the fireplace while watching his breathing become shallower and shallower until he died, resting his head on my lap. The sun was setting while he was dying, and stars weren't visible, but now, they are. They're peeking through the sunroof and moonlight is piercing the broken glass shards. I'm bathing in it, soaking up all of the light I can get. I've been doing a bit of stargazing as well. This might be the last starry night I enjoy. Because I'm dying too. I knew it a couple of days before he knew he was going to die. I knew I had gotten sick. I coughed up blood right after waking up, and managed to stomach my way through the next day so that he wouldn't worry about me. And it worked. He died in the best possible way he could have. Tonight, under these lights, I've been thinking about everything that's happened to me. How all of the decisions everyone has made, including me, have led up to this moment. The moment where I am the last person left alive, the last person left to savor the beauty of the nature that surrounds me. The last person that carries the memories and the lives of every other person who has ever lived. I've been reflecting on all of my own decisions. I figure that if I had done anything differently, the outcome would still be the same. Humanity would end one way or another, with another person being the last survivor. Another person would experience the death of everyone they loved. Another person would die alone and depressed, but oddly peaceful. But that person is me in this outcome. I am the last survivor. And that's okay. I've made peace with it. I guess... this is goodbye. I'll see you later, journal. I love you.

The echo of emptiness fills the last spaces left in his punctured heart, his pleads are heard after a long wait for peace , Earth swifts over it's whispers over his worn out strength "So, this is it....?" He coughed knowing well that talking would make death creep quicker, the chiming sounds of the trees. The warm sun, setting beneath the horizon slowly as the clouds paints itself into a splash of pinks and purples and oranges "I'm... alone again." He said in a sarcastic tone, eyes tired, hands in hues of bruises, body weeping of pain. Where once there were bustling streets, tall bright buildings at night, screams and laughter of old and young that is now gone like history. Him sealing his view as he held the wound of his doom "I never thought I'd be attending my own funeral... The sounds... Ah it's... so... peaceful..." Words faded into sighs of his last breath, he peepers to admire the view once more before leaving, colors turned to black, and tears trinkled down, with both his hands clutched tightly as if something of value was held in them. After his body went cold, the wind played a sorrowful howl and limp he went, lifeless he is, resting he be, hands relaxed, revealing a crunched up paper stained with blood, scribbled in hurry and fear: "I know not of any other human's existence, but if you happen to be in need of goods, I have some that might be of use to you... there is food, but I think by the time you find me they'll be rotten and stinking hell just like my dead body. I wish you luck in surviving."

Good day to the person who's reading this!! This post-apocalyptic music really made me feel nostalgia for no reason. It's like- a moment where after you've done everything, sacrificed almost everything, a moment where you stay still and look back, thinking " All the hard work I've done may not have been worth it, but I've enjoyed every second of it. And if I could turn back time, I'd still do all the things that I have done, and meet all the people that I have met." To be honest, what made me click on this video was the "post-apocalyptic" caption it had. It really reminded me of Omniscient reader's viewpoint, and all of the emotions I have felt reading it. It made me think of what Dokja said, "It was a good story, wasn't it?". The fun, happy, and sad moments, were all so beautiful, and this video/playlist really made me think more about what Kim Dokja said in his last moments. This is truly a wonderful playlist. It's like, sure, the last surviving member of humanity is dying, but, it's not sad. It's almost happy. They're finally coming to heaven, and can have true peace. Everyone no longer has to wait.

Sunlight... I've been dreaming of it my entire life. After the last survivor with me passed, I've been cowering down here, in the deepest waters of this incredible planet, trying to survive. Despite my best efforts, ill-health has grasped me in it's cold embrace... I wished with all my heart that I could see the sun at least once before I could no longer... I knew I didn't stand a chance, but I had no hope anyway. I left the cold, dark remnants of a dying civilization, hiding in the deep, and as I took one last look at the decaying metropolis, a smile crept across my face. The very planet we had poisoned with our technology was taking over everything we tried so hard to maintain. We thought it needed our help to stay alive, and here I am, watching this planet recover from something I never thought it could... my journey back to where my ancestors of a thousand years ago once stood was long, cold, lonely even. At last, I saw it, through the muddy water that was now clearer than I had ever known; I saw remnants of my ancestors. Buildings taller than the clouds replaced with trees. Where garbage dumps once lay, stretching endlessly on, over the horizon; now there was forests, birds chirping, vines rioting, mice and voles scurrying through the underbrush. No sign of human activity anywhere. All of this beauty lit by sunlight. It comforts me to know that, despite me knowing my last breath is now, I will join this ecosystem along with all of my friends, family, and the rest of my civilization. What comforts me the most is that even when I am gone, and the sun sets on the horizon; the last sunset ever seen by humanity, it will rise again tomorrow, making it's trek across the sky, climbing higher and higher before reaching it's peak and falling again, like the civilization Humanity tried in vain to maintain. The plants, animals and everything else will continue in a perpetual loop, rising and falling, and someday in the near future, a new civilization will rise once more. Perhaps they will care for this planet better than we ever dreamed of... I would like to say that to some, parts of this may seem familiar, and that's because this was inspired by Bart Torgal's "Return From The Deep" log from the game *Subnautica*. I highly recommend people who haven't heard or read this log do so, unless they plan on playing the game Subnautica, then I suggest not reading it until you discover it for yourself in the game. It's quite a powerful piece, and is so much better when you find it and hear it in the game itself.

(자연인처럼?) 그럴지도 모르겠다. 적이 없고 물자가 충분한데 혼자 살아남는다면. 나는 인간이 사라지고 나서 지구가 되살아나는 것을 목격하는 최초이자 최후의 목격자가 되었을 테니까. 지구는 원래대로 돌아가고 나도 그 일부가 되는 것이니 두려울 것도 슬플 것도 없을지도 모르겠다.
