Tragically and wrongfully taken from us on May 3rd in Florida, Roger's memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

As a fellow veteran, I am deeply saddened and troubled to hear about the senseless killing of Senior Airman Roger Fortson by police in Florida. Airman Fortson bravely served our country, only to lose his life needlessly to police violence here at home. It fills me with grief to see yet another Black servicemember, who dedicated his life to our nation, die in this way. Incidents like this are a sobering reminder that even those who wear the uniform are not immune to the systemic racism and injustice that continues to plague policing in America. It shows how far we still have to go to root out bias and brutality in law enforcement, and to ensure that every person, regardless of the color of their skin, can expect fair treatment and due process. My heart goes out to Airman Fortson's family, friends and fellow Airmen as they cope with this devastating loss. I stand with them in mourning and in the continued call for meaningful reform, increased accountability, and justice. Senior Airman Fortson's service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We must honor his memory by working to build a society where tragedies like this no longer occur, and where every person's life, dignity and humanity is equally valued and protected.

I saw most the body cam. 1. He was under the influence of alcohol. 2. He held a Glock in his right hand as he stood behind apt. #4001, Listening as the Deputy banging repeatedly, he WAS YELLING “Police, Open Your Door! OPEN THE DOOR! (The apt manager called the police because neighbors were reporting that he was having an argument with someone and this had been going on for a long time. Someone went over to his apartment. I’m not sure if it was a person selling something, but when he opened the door, he threatened them it all on the body camera, so when that person went down to the office, he notified the manager that something was wrong with that guy. Therefore the manager called the sheriffs department to go up and do a welfare check and make sure that the young man and his woman friend were OK. The part where the shooting happened was deleted so the investigators from different jurisdictions would have a fresh opinion, because they would be the only ones to see the actual shooting and watch CAUSED the deputy to feel like he was about to be shot by this airman. I noticed the young man appeared to be concerned and Disoriented. Of COURSE HERE COMES THE RACE BATING LAWYERS…… GOING TO spin another false narrative and try for that “Ghetto Lotto” jackpot. Especially that slow talking “Kingfish” Amos and Andy lawyer Big Ben Clunk! “Lawd how’ Mercy Baby! What you gonna get ? what you gonna get? Hold out ya’ hand because you ain’t gettin chit!
