FUNERAL SERVICE OF THE LATE SARAH CHEBET NG'ETICH | 1948 - 2025

EARLY LIFE
The late Mama Sarah Chebet Ngetich was born on 17th March 1948 in Kiptengeret Village, Chebwagan, Kericho County to the late Bosongo arap Munai Koskei and the late Zipporah Munai.
EDUCATION
She attended Chebwagan Primary School where she sat for her Common Entrance Examination (CEE) in 1959 and the Kenya African Preliminary Examinations (KAPE) in 1963. She passed well and was enrolled in Kapkenda Girls Secondary School in 1964 where she was among the pioneers of the school. She sat for her Cambridge School Certificate (CSC) in 1967. In 1971, she joined Rift Valley Commercial College to pursue a course in secretarial & book-keeping.
WORK HISTORY
She was employed as an untrained teacher in Cheborgei and Kiptewit Primary Schools in the years 1968 to 1970. In 1971, she was employed in Molo Secondary School as a secretary and accounts clerk until 1981 when she moved to Olenguruone Secondary School to continue working in the same capacity up to 1992.
FAMILY LIFE
She got married to Elijah Ngetich in 1967 and they were blessed with six children namely: Malinson, Lorna, Robert, the late Caroline, Janet and the late Geoffrey. She was a proud grandmother to Kevin, Harry, Prince, Kimberly, Ted, Toby, Sharon, Shadrack, Shawn, Emmanuel, Faith, Gracia, June, Michelle and Victoria. She loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She was passionate about education and ensured all her children had access to good quality education. She keenly followed the progress and performance of her children including those of her extended family in school. She was also a great mentor and disciplinarian.
CHURCH ENGAGEMENT & ACHIEVEMENT
She got saved and was baptized at Litein Africa Inland Mission Church (AIC) in 1960. She was active in church activities in her early childhood years, taught Sunday school as a youth, and attended youth camps. Between 1985 and 2018, she was the chair lady at her local church, AIC-Ketitui in Olengurone. She was actively involved in the planning of Christian Women Fellowship (CWF) camps & rallies as the chair lady. She trained as a Christian Service Cadet (CSC) Teacher (Guide) in the year 1999 and thereafter immediately started the Girls Program, which is active to date. She also trained as an Assistant Instructor in the Cadet Program at Ziwani AIC-Nairobi in the year 2004. Between the year 2006 and 2007 she trained as a Christian Service Cadet (CSC) Instructor and Superintendent in Athi River. As an Instructor & Superintendent, she was committed to graduating CSC girls within the region (Kuresoi). She also actively participated in training CSC teachers within the area (Nakuru). She joined the Bible Training Centre for Pastors (BTCP) Course in AIC Olenguruone Town Church between the year 2004 to 2006 and obtained a Leadership Certificate She was the treasurer of the District Church Council (DCC) Christian Women Fellowship from 2019. On 7th November 2020, at the age of 72 Years, she was awarded an Honorary PhD in Leadership from the University of America. This was due to her active involvement in God’s work spanning over 40 years. She consequently had the title Dr. added to her name.
INTERESTS
She was an avid follower of current affairs and enjoyed reading newspapers and magazines. She also loved listening to the radio and watching gospel TV channels. Moreover, she enjoyed and followed some TV shows.
HEALTH HISTORY
Mama Sarah was generally healthy. Despite the typical manageable mild ailments like arthritis and high blood pressure that come with old age, she maintained good overall health. Final Moments On Tuesday, January 14th, Mama Sarah was feeling unwell and drove herself to the clinic, where she was attended to and suspected to have contracted pneumonia. She received treatment and went back home. However, she experienced a restless night and hardly slept. On Wednesday, January 15th, she called her son Malinson and his wife Beverly at about 7.30 am to inform them that she was not feeling well. She requested that a driver be sent immediately to take her to Nairobi so she could see her doctor. A driver was immediately dispatched from Nairobi. She even suggested that she drive to Keringet or Molo to meet the driver. She loved to drive herself. While waiting for the driver, Mama Sarah decided to bask in the sun in her garden with Alice who lived with her. She spoke with her daughter Lorna and informed her that she would be in Nairobi by the end of the day. She also made several phone calls to her friends and church colleagues. At about 11 am, she went into the house to pack her bag. Within about ten minutes, she made a phone call to Alice to quickly rush to her bedroom. Alice found Sarah lying on the bed in discomfort. Neighbors were called to assist, but everything happened so fast. She passed out and was rushed to the nearby Olenguruone hospital where unfortunately it was confirmed that she was no more.
