My brother studied amharic (the main language spoken in Ethiopia) at uni and can speak it fluently. He learnt it because he fell in love with a girl from Ethiopia when he went there for his gap year. They got married two years ago and the wedding was in Addis, with the reception being held in the very restaurant you went to (its called Yod Abyssinia). I was just as blow away by Ethiopian culture as are when I went there, so seeing you so fascinated by a country so close to my heart really fills me with joy! Great video, keep up the good work and I hope you decide to return to Ethiopia.

I'm 14 and born in Germany, but my parents are from Ethiopia. Since I only was a little kid, my parents took me each summer to Ethiopia. I remember the days I'd get back to Germany and be so happy, because as a kid I really didn't like it that much. But when I got older, my view to Ethiopia completely changed. Now I love my country so much, I love the people, I love the religion, I love the language, I love the culture. I have so many family members over there and friends I made during my stay. Now, when I always get back to Germany, I start crying. My heart never wants to leave. One of my biggest wishes is to move there (Addis Ababa) with my mom and to live there. I hope my wish comes true. I hope you liked your stay and your video was super cool. Also I'm not really sure, but did you stay in Sarem Hotel? It really looked like it. God bless Ethiopia. Ethiopia le zelalem tinur❤🙏

Ethiopia is out of this world. History, Culture, e.t.c, .. and the landscape is unbelievable. There are some serious political issues unfortunately, but man, there's no place on the planet like Ethiopia. If you ever get to see the landscape, you'll see what I mean.

I think ethopia is one of the the most misunderstood countries ever
@ambessashield9360
@ambessashield9360 8 жыл бұрын
+b-dog t-dog Not misunderstood, but the famine in the 80s change the view of the country completely so those born after that doesn't know much else about the country, but people are finally starting notice. If you Google pictures from when the last king Haile Selassie traveled around the world he was greeted by thousands of cheering people in the streets. We are talking about a black king in Europe and America in the 60s. Ethiopia was seen as an Africa lion that successfully resisted colonization and fought the fascists til the last day.

Even if you don't see this Louis, you inspire me to do things that I never would have done without you by my side supporting me all the way. You have changed my perspective on life, before I thought that I had forever to spend all my time at a screen but then I realised that I should make the most of everything I've been given the opportunity to do. Even though I'm only 11, you have encouraged me to do so many things like getting more active and appreciating the beauty of nature more than I used to. I wish you well, and know that I'm always by your side to support you. Even if I never meet you, I hope that I can express this enough through the internet. Thank you Louis.- Jamie

It's really cool how we can view different cultures and their way of living just by following a guy around as he goes through his day. I've been watching Louis for years and I can honestly say that almost every bit of inspiration to travel has come from him. So thanks Louis for showcasing different countries in a way we might not have seen them before and inspiring us to forget our previously conceived notions about a place and reminding us that you can have fun anywhere.

Louis: I started watching your vlogs over two years ago because they inspire me to live fully every single day. Plus, you provide such a rich glimpse into countries that I may never be able to see. The past 6 months, I didn't feel that inspiration as much from your videos, but lately the feeling is back and i'm so happy! I'm starting to think outside the box again when it comes to changing the world, and I credit that to you largely. Thanks for everything!

Wow, i love your enthusiasm and love for the new thing you are experiencing. Concerning the time, we Ethiopians we start counting the time by saying 1 hour since the sun rises, two ours since etc etc and we start all over again 1 hour since the dark falls, etc etc. That is the most reasonable counting time since in Ethiopia is near the equator there will be no confusing. Thanks for this beautiful clip.

It was obvious to me what they meant on the sticker and other habeshas probably got it too. We are very aware of the difference in our calanders and think ours is unique and really PROUD of it too.

In terms of number of days, it is equal to the GC. But we minus seven and half year from GC. It is the time that Adam lives in heaven before start to live on earth. That is why we minus these years from GC. Also we have 12 months with 30 days and one month with 5 days and 6 days every four years.

So glad you like Ethiopia! With the calendar they have 13 months in a year so that is why it's so behind. Also the Ethiopian new year falls on September 11th. I've stayed at the guest house that you held you event at and the owners are so nice. The also have 2 of the cutest little girls. If you go up to the main road near the guest house and to the left there is a really good cafe. I was born in Ethiopia and this vlog really makes me miss it.

Actually this is wrong! the reason we have 13 months is because the 12 months (Meskerm/September - Nehase/August) all have 30 days each. 12 X 30 = 360 so the remaining 5 days make up the 13th month (Paugmea) . In leap year the 13 month has 6 days. If you we go by your explanation, then the gap between our calendar and Gregorian calendar keeps growing which is not the case. We are 8 years behind because we are following the Julian Calendar.

+itsreallyromaan I have a similar story.. born there, raised in Sweden, went back first when I was like 9 years old.. don't remembered much.. went back again in my 20s and cried when I left. Be prepare for an emotional roller coaster when you go back, you'll never want to live believe me.

I've been waiting so long for this moment where you start a new adventure in Ethiopia 🇪🇹! It's so nice to see that you guys are enjoying it just on day one!! I hope you'll have a great time in one of the worlds most beautiful countries (in my opinion 😉) and get to see and learn a lot about their culture. By the way you should go visit Gondar, just beautiful! ☀️⛰ greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

YASSSS!! My parents are from ethiopia though we currently live in Australia and i've only been there once, you have given me a deeper appreciation of my culture and I watched the whole vlog with a smile on my face. I LOVED it and it is true that it was the only country in Africa that has not been colonised!

I am too much of a home bird to go travelling like this, I like routine and things too much, but I love to watch your vlogs as how someone else would watch David Attenborough documentaries, it's so interesting to be educated in such a personalised way. Thanks for giving us that insight :)

I miss it tremendously. Can you imagine one gets born and grow up in this culture, only to spend adulthood in a foreign land. Its has been a constant struggle for 30 years. Going back for retirement.
