Being of Ukranian descent, I am pleased the proceeds of this video will help Ukranians in their hour of need. My father, a chef, although French-trained, made all of the dishes in this video, because no one else was making them in the Northeast USA where I grew up, and he missed home cooking as much as the next guy. Prayers for Ukraine!

Your father is a hero, especially for making dishes because no one else is making them. I hope to see Ukrainian food become more prevalent in the United States. I also would love to see Balkan food become more popular in the future.

OMG, he spread smetana (sour cream) on a bread and then he put borsch on top. I've never been so frustrated in my life. I'm surprised they don't give any guidance in those restaurants. Usually, you put sour cream in borsch and you eat it with bread, salo (pork fat), onion, or garlic. Some people put some dill in borsch on top of sou cream. Also, it is often to make specific garlic buns called pampushky and eat them with borsch, but it's rare to see someone doing it at home, because it takes more effort.

Hi! Jane here. Bless your hearts, guys! I pray the precious Ukrainians will be truly blessed by your gift to them. I make bohemian style cabbage rolls. I think they are a near perfect food. I cannot have grains, so I switch out the rice for chopped spaghetti squash. It is still a winner. The Ukrainians really pack their rolls tight though!

"Ukraine is landlocked" -- are you guys serious? Take a look at a globe! It's about as land-locked as Turkey. Pretty much the entire northern Black Sea shoreline is Ukrainian. And if you visit a some place in that region you'll see the abundance of seafood that this restaurant doesn't show (nice as it is). I live some 60 miles away from the sea and I can witness to the fact that a great number of people prefer a variety of fish to meat.

@@streettravelxxiYeah, as a Ukrainian I always thought Hungarian food was spicier and heartier and attributed it to the nomadic origins of Hungarians (nomadic tribes tend to have spicy food to preserve it during travelling). Ukrainian culture is based on a settled way of life, very agricultural, so easy access to fresh produce and preference for other ways to preserve food.

As a Ukrainian, may I suggest donating to local Ukrainian organizations, like "Come Back Alive Foundation" or "Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation". Both are legitimate and are highly supported by Ukrainians. These charities make a difference, unlike useless international organizations. The only international organization worth supporting is World Central Kitchen and perhaps Doctors Without Borders. The rest - U S E L E S S, just like the UN.
