Wonderful and fascinating! A privilege to be in the audience of this research lab tour. Thank you Aaron and Sidnee for educating us about this marvelous organic symbiosis of cooperative species.

I think one of the more interesting aspects of this are the food packets created by the mushrooms themselves and what nutrients they contain and perhaps modify this fungus to generate a dialed in human "all in one" food stuff if possible. Who knows what it would taste like but perhaps that could be played with as well.

This is peak fungi content. Unique, entertaining, and educational. It would be cool to see somebody try to get it to fruit.

So they're essentially farming exudates from the fungus, fascinating. Based on that, I'd like an analysis of those exudates to be done. I'd bet there's a psychoactive substance within them. Because IMO, Psilocybin is what made us like Ants, and if we want to understand what the hell is going on there, we need to study this further. Because so many people say Ants are like us, they preceded us. They figured out fungi before us. We're onto huge discoveries though, very exciting.

Thank you for putting this together! Leaf cutter ants are fascinating! If I ever work up the courage to finally get my first tattoo, I want it to be of leaf cutters and mushrooms :)

Whoa!!!! Fascinating video! I would like to learn more about the other fungi farming ants, too! It does freak me out a bit having them in our country. Heck, even on our continent! Separated by ocean sounds good to me! So devastating! They remind me of army ants in old Tarzan movies! Laughing out loud, nervously! Hahaha! Yikes!

Amazing how the leaf cutter ants have such a similar relationship to this fungi as trees do to ectomycorrhiza fungi.

Dear mushroom wonderland: What a cool channel!... Thanks for this episode, haven't even watched it yet but I'm giving it a big thumbs up already! I really appreciate the fact that this isn't a channel about hallucinating mushroom's... it's just not my thing, i know they've discovered that it could this or that... it's just not my thing, and yes, i have shroomed before! ... I got into fungi through gardening... it's weird I know...i just like it... mycelium to be exact but i really like how mushrooms play such a vital unseen role in nature. Watched a documentary that tree's communicate through the mycelium in the ground? Not sure but sounds pretty cool. Anyways yeah so i actually used to live in Oly for a few years, went to North Thurston high School in Lacey but i live in Phoenix now ... really miss my Grandma's property with 10 acres and South Puget sound access! But I'm a Phoenix boy at heart really ( minus the summer's 😓) so what I'm really after is a channel that's like yours but fot for the desrt SouthWest, can you recommend anything??... I don't think there's a plethora of mushrooms out here like there is in the PNW😑 but there's still gotta be something right??.... Ive created a section of the backyard for all the dead branches to go...kinda hoping i could create some place for mushrooms to grow, not having much luck though! Anyways thanks reading and any ideas or info is appreciated 👍

They're edible for us too. Barely. I ate some, and it tasted like vomit. But I can now say leaf cutter ant fungus as the weirdest thing I've ever eaten.
