333AndMan Dahmer is famous for victimizing young men, and eating them after he killed them (among other things.) Overall he was a shut-in weirdo. Bundy was famous for victimizing young women by feigning injury and asking them for help. He was known as a “lady’s man,” cause he was generically handsome and had a friendly outward demeanor, which helped convince women to trust him, and kept anyone from suspecting he was the killer. He may or may not have eaten his victims. Ed Gein is a much older case in which he killed “only” two people. He had a weird obsession with his mom and older women like them. He would dig up corpses and make their skin into furniture and clothing.

@matthewbratton50035 жыл бұрын
Jacob Ouellette It’s also not possible to crucify someone through the palms. The flesh is so weak that the nail would rip through their hands and they’d fall off of the cross within minutes. The wrist had enough ligaments and bone mass to support your body weight better, so you’d stay on the cross longer.

They had to use their body weight to pull themselves up by their arms to take in a breath, though, and the wrists had a certain crook that the nail could be driven through giving the person the ability to pull themselves up by their arms while making it as torturously painful as possible- it would tear through their hands if they spent that time pulling themselves up by the hands even if their were nails through their feet

Ive been watching funhaus since the beginning (of funhaus) and I feel like i know these awesome peoples humor so well now and this video just clicked for me as the funniest 14 minutes and 6 seconds of my life! Ryan has to be one of the most relatable people in funhaus and his work on editing has really shown! I hope maybe in the future funhaus will put the editors name in the description somewhere because it is nice to know who made every hilarious video. 5:19 I think it's more historically accurate to portray crucifixion with nails through the wrist because the nail would sit in the crux of the two bones in your forearm. If you nailed through a hand, eventually the weight of your body would pull you down and the nail could tear a swath through your hand and you could just drop off the cross

Fun little fact about the palm vs wrist nail placement for crucifixion, nearly everyone was convinced it was the palms because it just seemed more symbolic. Until some scientists tested this theory. It was found that the palms wouldn't be able to support as much weight at the wrist, mostly because the tissue between the bones in the palm are thin for flexibility and have no resistance from bone - like nailing a sheet of paper to a wall and pulling down on it. The wrist has more bones in the base of the hand running perpendicular to the force along with ligaments, which is stronger than flesh alone. Since the cross was a popular Roman torture device, and drew huge crowds, you wouldn't exactly want your entertainment to slip off and run away, hence the wrist being the more likely spot to hang up a human. As a result of this, people whose palms inexplicably bled on Easter Sunday (stigmata), inexplicably began to bleed from their wrists instead. They probably wanted to show their faith in their religion, but it just sounds like blasphemy to me. To each their own, I suppose.

This was only mentioned off topic a little bit, but in crucifixions, the nail would go through the wrist, not the hand. The hand is mainly cartilage and you wouldn’t be able to hang by them and support your body weight. It would hurt a ton because it would rip through your hands, but it wouldn’t kill you and that was the whole point of crucifixions, to put you in a position that you had to pull yourself up by your arms (which were nailed to the board through your wrist in the crook of those bones to support your weight) and cause as much pain as possible until the person lost the energy and slumped down, causing them to essentially suffocate.

With crucifixion, rope was more common. As for placement, while translations vary, it is generally understood that nails through just palm and feet would not be enough to keep him there. It would have had to be through the wrist and shins for it to work.
