God this brings back memories. The video even has the VHS blue screen we all became accustomed to as kids. The version of this documentary I saw as part of the Thrills, Chills & Spills marathon had a lot more over-the-top narration. This version seems a bit more subdued.

The scenes that took place inside the Haunted Mansion ride came from the 1990 Disney Sing-A-Long video, Disneyland Fun when they appeared during the song, Grim Grinning Ghosts.

They are planning on building a new one and they bought cars and track from Wild Bill’s in Connecticut which was going to have several dark rides and a walk through haunted fun house but Wild Bill passed and the park was never completed. The haunted fun house never opened and was torn down. All that work for nothing.

I hate when dark rides get rebranded with licensed themes. Like Kennywood’s Old Mill was rebranded Garfield’s Nightmare in 2004 but it was rethemed to a new Old Mill in 2020.

It was torn down after 1998 season, but Exterminator opened in 1999 at the far end of the park. Bushkill Park had the cars until the haunted pretzel was ruined by heavy snow and a flood from the after effects of a hurricane. I think Sept 2004 was the flood. I rode on a Le Cachot car a few years before the snow and flood. I live near Dorney Park which lost all their classic dark rides, Bucket O’ Blood burned Sept 28, 1983 and Journey to the Center of the Earth mill chute was razed after 1992 season because new owner Cedar Fair from Ohio didn’t want it. They were afraid it would be a liability.

The ke Cachot cars were bought by Chris Geffen of York, PA who was trying to build his own dark ride, he has two Bucket O’ Blood cars from Dorney that were away from the ride when the fire happened. The park had an auction in 1987 when they cleaned house and got rid of unneeded stuff. The two Bucket cars were sold in that auction. One wound up on ebay over 10 years ago and Chris bought it.
