Funimation was fucked up for this one bro, only black guy with a speaking role since Officer Black(?) and they just couldn't hold back their Texan racism. The original dub has a lot of unnecessary localization changes and dialogue that didn't need to be there, but this is just too much.

Crazy enough I've been binge watching Dragon Ball and the weirdest change was before the second Budokai Tenkaichi and on the plane Roshi had to take a dump and Launch wanted to hijack the plane in Japanese but in english Roshi randomly wanted off the plane and Launch is apparently mad at Jackie Chun for beating Goku last time. Mind you Launch stayed at the island. But yeah growing up is realizing the least expected place is the one doing all the english dubs and actually makes sense why most dubs now are trash...among a whole lot of other things

@@AshurathDR Yeahhhhhhh I think I remember that funny moment with Roshi and Launch in the Viz manga, but it's been so many years, really takes away from their personalities that Toriyama wrote (Rest in peace to the GOAT). So much gets lost and warped in translation I guess, wish they'd respect the source material more but what can you do? Apparently Funimation doesn't even exist anymore anyways(?). Even Viz which I grew up with as my source of DB supposedly has a ton changed from the Japanese Kanzenshuu releases, it just is what it is. Agreed with what you said at the end too, it's almost funny. Thanks for the vid upload btw!

You a real one for reading the manga cause most I ever did was pic up the colored Z manga and just see the color choices. With the debacle on localizations and translations it shows how much we took fan subs for granted...at times. But as far the as Dragon Ball rewatch goes I find myself watching both versons now just to see a lot of differences. Chose the worst time too cause I forgot Krillin dies and that hurts double time

The difference is, Boomhauer was a main character who just spoke that way, while Killa a temporary character that not only spoke in clear sentences in the jp dub was then made to "talk" gibberish in the OG EN dub until Kai. Ain't saying it's racism but they did do him dirty meanwhile Officer Black in DB was handled normal, probably since he was part of an Arc. The only thing in a retrospective point of view you could say is that Funimation dubs are handled by folks in Texas, but regardless it is what it is.
