This is hands down the best tutorial style I have ever seen. My guitar gurus talk, then they play what they explained, then they stop and tell you what they did and explain what they're gonna do next... the halting nature is completely eliminated here. Not a moment wasted. I'm learning the concepts WHILE gaining the muscle memory . 😮Brilliant methodology! I'm gonna get so much out of this! Thanks so much for sharing ! Subbed! ❤

Awesome!! So glad this suits your style! I'm not a guitarist but it was this dude who kicked off the idea for me kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3W1ZWCpfr2ihqcsi=-2LuXMAmLbpQBZBG - now I'm pretty keen to make a series in this style, it's a lot of fun :) Thanks for the comment!

Now this is a fun tutorial with the track playing in the background. It keeps the pace of the teaching and concepts are played in context after the explanation

I don’t play the piano. This makes me want to learn. I’ve been banging around on the guitar for 40+ years. A piano salesman once told me it would be easy since I know chords and songs. Lol. I’m sure he was right. I gotta get on this. Thank you.

I'm so glad it's working for you - my next video will be same groove and key but focussing on RH improvisation building up in complexity but including blues riffs - with call and response exercises, I'm pretty excited about it and hoping to get it finished next week. I do have a Blues shuffle tutorial kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3KtYYmDbpmpaLMsi=QHyZ9oT23Ks7v9Rw but I'm also keen to eventually do a slow 12/8 blues groove too - cheers for the suggestions!

Hey thanks so much for your comment ! Unfortunately I don't have a tab for this, but you might be interested in the track 'Klunky' by Directions in Groove which inspired me to write this bassline I couldn't find a tab for that on first glance but it may be out there? Regardless, I hope you enjoy the track as much as I did! kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5ewfWODraadsNUsi=QdQYIx13tOeyxqQH

If you want to funk, the you need to push the down beat. In other words, the Bass should not go to the first, but hit the root on the 16th before the beat and leave the downbeat empty.

It's better known as a shuffle feel rather than swing
@pianoproductivitypeace
@pianoproductivitypeace 2 ай бұрын
Yeah that's one way to look at it - I would say that it's closer to a 'halftime shuffle' as the backbeat (snare) has 6 triplet subdivisions rather than 3. But I've also seen sheet music with 'Swinging 16ths' on the title page - same thing, different ways to express it :)

When playing with a bassist do you leave out the left hand?
@pianoproductivitypeace
@pianoproductivitypeace 2 ай бұрын
Good question, Short answer is yes you can leave the left hand out without affecting the overall sound I usually leave my left hand in to feel where one is and for the ghost notes effect, but you do need to be careful not to be too busy in the left hand when playing with a bass player ... In this video there is a bass line as well as the keyboard left hand and because the left hand keyboard part is relatively simple and sparse they don't seem to clash in my opinion. Cheers!
