no, shadow is the most dominant dj to ever rep the wheels of steel, hands down. he created his own timeless music, with sampling skills that still defy the "greatest" on the charts today, and re-creates it in a way that is beyond comparison.

As far as i know, he doesn't make any sound. He samples the sounds from existing records. All the art is to find THE sound among millions of records. It is called "Crate Digging", and according to DJ Cut Chemist, DJ Shadow is "The King of Digging". PS: I'm not DJ Shadow.

Thom Yorke reportedly likes this guy so I came to have a look. Personally I'm not impressed at all. What I hear is basically a recording of an inexperienced organ player dubbed along to a gritty synth and a big fat drum n bass beat slapped on top. To call this music seems like an insult to me. Anyone can make this kind of 'music', get hold of a copy of Reason 4 and knock yourselves out if u like this stuff. (No offence intended, just my opinion)

Smart boy, I spent 10 years now mixing in clubs of Paris, Spain and Italy, only once in NY, it has brought me not only money, but women and a kind of fame too....Now if you are jealous that some other ppl than you can make it, then do something with your life, and don't spit your frustration in comments ^^...And if you don't beleive me, well....no problem ! And by the way it is not my profession, I am a mechanic...
@IRAQrecords16 жыл бұрын
nah he doesnt rap but he sometimes has other ppl rapping over his beats/sampled beats, in some cases he collaborates with artists such as J-Live, Blackalisious, Lifesavas, Mr Lif. He did some live shows with Cut Chemist such as brainfreeze and product placement. all of his albums he usually does solo, although his new and completely fucked up album the outsider is branded hype or something and its pretty much only got rapping in it from the bay area, dont buy it worst shadow album ever =[
@sam880416 жыл бұрын
thats absolute crap.ShkyupRthat i think the "tv shows with ballet dancing homosexual chavs on housing estatesE that you are talking about is skins. Look at The gossip they were nobodys before that show. Look at them now. Skins is amazing and most of the population of the uk think so. And the second seris is about to make it bigger. In my opinion this is one of the best things dj shadow could have done.
@alexvoz16 жыл бұрын
Is your screenname referring to the fox character from Sonic the Hedgehog? But yes, I don't even know what the conversation is, but Shadow ain't no drum n bass. You can say mash up, but nah.. "hip hop" should cover it. I got tickets to see him with Cut Chemist in a few weeks in New York! Cannot fucking wait! I have seen Shadow once before and he blew a fucking hole in my brain.

i understand what u told, but i think there are some new instruments (like samplers, bassliners, plates), and new types of music. In this fuckin postmodern ages its a skill to recombine the existing elements. I hear musics with tradicional (classical) instruments but i can accept the new ways too. Maybe u should try it too. (And sorry for my english, im from Hungary:))
@mclearz16 жыл бұрын
slavaer its pretty shallow and ignorant comeing from a composer and instrumentalist that you have no respect for people that play decks,how do u know that he hasnt pressed his own records and is mixing in live his own synths n percussion,and to be honest i dont like pussy light music but i respect the composers comprende?
@IRAQrecords16 жыл бұрын
if u want his best tracks without the rapping, then i recomend all of the 'What does your soul look like' theres about 4 parts and they have some sweet samples and beats. also 'midnight in a perfect world' 'building steam with a grain of salt' maybe you would like 'in flux' and basically tunes off entroducing. he hasnt done many rapping tracks, but imo stay away from them

What's amazing in any music? How do describe the quality of amazing? What's good and what's bad, it's however you think it is. Why? I cannot not say, but i like this music because it sounds friggin' cool and I truly enjoy listening to it. Nice beat, nice melody, it's pleasant. That's why i think it's amazing, don't know about you though.

I don't think you understand my point, mainly getting that feeling from the fact that Brixton is a place - Brixton Academy being the venue - and not a person...but it really doesn't matter. I was simply saying it's a shame he's not as popular anymore, but I still rate him

First time I saw Shadow was the same weekend gangstarr was also playing Philly. Like 1 or 2 days apart, but premier shadow and cut Chemist were traveling together. Anyway, some douche stole primos records before the show and as legend has it the three of them went to every dj in the city and borrowed the LPS to make the gangstarr set happen. Noone in the crowd knew anything was amiss because of how the community came through. True story.
