The one thing I love about cats is the fact that they're unlike any other animal. When other animals ignore you they can do it for hours on end without a stuff about where you are, but when a cat ignores you it will follow you from room to room and stare at you to make sure you know they're ignoring you.

dude, cats can be badass against dogs and other animals. Common misconception that dogs are dominant against cats and scare them, that shit is rare. Cats often choose fight instead of flight, and they have huge balls, not to mention a dominant personality and sense of superiority even in combat. I had an outdoor cat who hated dogs and would regularly prowl the neighborhood seeking out and terrorizing all the dogs, big and small didn't matter. Got so bad a number of neighbors wanted to get us in trouble. They banded together and called the cops and animal control. When they told them their dogs are getting their asses handed to them by my cat, they got a big laugh and a fine for frivolous call. lmao I love it. Cats play the innocent and frail creature, but they're actually tough shit.

The dog is definitely a puppy so it was taken not so long ago, cat was for sure the first pet in that house. And if pets aren't with each other from birth every animal will react like that, even if it's two cats or two dogs. I'm having 5 cats at my home and whenever I bough new one the "first" cat was not only scared but also aggressive towards the kitten because they didn't knew what it was and it didn't smell like them.

Pets are not children. It is people who get pets under this delusion that's the problem. The owner probably never even considered the outcome before they decided to introduce more pets to their home: "My kid wants a dog for entertainment, the cat will be fine". You can't give either animal shit for its behavior. Animals act instinctively and don't reason with the capacity humans would /like/ to believe they can. Most of the time they can work it out by themselves, establishing a hierarchy (as in the video), but not always. Considering the difference in species, dogs are domesticated pack animals and cats are predators, it is amazing that they often do get along when people force them together

That cat vs shepherd one reminded me of something involving my mom's old cat. Mom was outside talking to a neighbor when a big shepherd pup came bounding toward them. Mom wasn't worried -she liked shepherds- but the neighbor lady was freaked. However by the time the shepherd got within several yards, it gave a yelp and tore off away from our yard. Mom's cat strolled out of the bushes near where the dog turned tail. All the cat had to do was stare at it intently and give a hiss at a menacing frequency. Blondie the cat was a natural alpha.

It's not a fairytale, ask any vet or pet nutritionist, or just research it yourself. Just like not every smoker dies from lung cancer, not every cat will suffer ill effects from eating dog food. But why risk it? My cat died at the grand age of 21 last year, never ate dog food, but if I could go back - if there was anything I could do differently, to give me more time with her, I'd do it.
