My brother and his wife both have their own cats. Gulliver, my bro's anxiety attack therapy cat, is a lover boy. Aspen, his wife's tabby, on the other hand, basically hates everyone except for her. Aspen tolerates my brother, even. Well, when we were up in Seattle after being there for the wedding, I ended up staying a lil longer with my dad and his own husband. That man HATES cats. We honestly don't fully know why, I think it's mostly that he just isn't a fan of their more unpredictable natures (which is fair tbh. If you don't know their body language then you would probably think they just suddenly lash out lol). This guy did everything he could to interact with the cats when we visited their apartment. And, of course. Guess who Aspen, the cat who is known to despise everyone but her owner, decided was actually worthy of her curiosity and time? Take the wildest fucking guess. It was hilarious to see this cat, who we had sorta been warned about, climb up to and lean in to sniff and inspect the one person there who DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM. The guy has sorta warmed up to cats since then, even if only slightly, but that moment is still absolutely hilarious to all of us because Aspen had apparently NEVER done that before. Ive heard that more solitary cats often gravitate toward the people who "dislike" them because those people tend to give the cats space, which the cats think is respectful lol.

My 2 rescue boys are the soppiest, sweetest cats that 99.9% of people who’ve met them adore. Apart from one of my old school friends who remains scared of cats. I moved back to the area nearly 9 years ago & despite their best efforts she still keeps clear of them! This hadn’t deterred them though, every time my friend is at mine my boys do their best “aren’t we lovely, please be our friend” routine but from a respectful distance ❤️❤

IN just 1 week of quality socialization! on the flip end, we've seen some cats completely turn off their hearts in just 1 bad week of negative experiences. My dad was like that… he hated cats… barn cats were one thing…. They were a "working cat." They kept the mice and rats and other rodents at bay but they were all feral…. Then I found a little white Siamese kitten on the road that was barely a month old if that… I brought her home and bottle fed her all the while my dad kept saying as soon as she’s weaned she’s out of the house and into the barn… one day when I came in the house I caught him on the couch with Casey, the kitten I brought home… he was laying here with her on his chest scratching her and talking to her… I went over to pick her up and he smacked my hand away… "my cat," he says to me… and yep, that is exactly what she was… she was dad's kitty until the day she passed 20 years later… the only time I have ever seen him cry was the day we buried her out under our giant maple tree … RIP Casey….

@ZippedUpKitz5 ай бұрын
@@ga1axyshad191 we had a lot of barn cats but After Casey Passed, they never had another cat in the house… dad just couldn’t bring himself to let another one come inside… he did shower those barn cats with lots of pets and scratches though… he made sure they had food and even made little "houses" for them inside the barn so they would have a warm place to sleep in the winter… Casey changed his mind about cats… she did what she was sent to do :) he still talks about her to this day and she's been gone for more than 20 years… most of the kitties that were in the barn were feral but there was a litter that had been born that he socialized…. I thought it was funny because of how he had always acted towards the "working" cats… but Casey Changed him and after she died he really missed her and the company… so when mittens had her last litter, dad was determined he was going to be able to pet and hold those kittens… Mittens was NOT thrilled about it to either… she moved them three times … I guess she finally gave up after the third time… dad took wet food out to the kittens and would pick them up and hold and pet them… as they grew a couple would follow him around when he'd go out in the barn… he loved those kitties too… cats have a way of changing people… I’m glad I found Casey when I was 12 years old out on that road as I was walking up to my grandparents place… she's the reason my dad changed and it was a change for the better,,,,

Cats have a way, especially kittens, of burrowing into hearts and souls. I never liked cats until I was a kennel cleaner in 1979. I fell in love with the kennel cat, a Siamese and a black cat. The next year I got my first cat. I’m now on cats 4 and 5 a brother sister litter mate team. And who bought me my first cat? Mom! She hated cats but loved mine because she was mine. I went only a year without a cat and it was awful! My late third cat helped to raise my late Chihuahua girl and when she passed at 16 having to be put to sleep because she was incurably I’ll from age, my previous cat became depressed. I helped him through it and he helped me. He passed on my lap at 19 years old.

Sometimes our pets find us... ♡

My house seems to be a beacon for lost pets. We've had a total of 8 cats in the last 6 years show up at our place. We've kept two out of those 8. We'd keep them all, but we already have 4 dogs and a cat. Our vet is amazing and has looked at each one to check for chips and examine them at a minimal cost. Once we know they're not a "lost" pet, we find them good homes. I don't just let them go to anyone 😂 we still get pics from their forever parents from time to time.

Dogs and cats are both such wonderful gifts. Without their companionship we humans would be lonely and sad.
