Seriously that last clip is why I started running the darkness in my evolve shaman. Happened 6 times to me, hasn't happened since but I know the second I take it out it'll happen again.

Takaiiro Nah man the darkness isn't just non-beneficial to the evolve mechanic. It literally fucks it up completely. Depending on how blizzard make it interact with evolve its either a 20/20 or just non-existent. Either way it's unhealthy for the mechanic and hence for the game as well.

I think we already have too many bad 4 drop minions like mr.skeleton, abomination. and a lot of not average state minions like 1/1 2/3

Evolves are weaking even more with those bad minions with higher costs. Will be a dead deck soon.

Yeah, I think this is the most egregious example of an effect giving you less than nothing. You wasted your card to get this result, plus you now are unable to have a seventh slot for creatures. It's the true negative value card, and there's no good reason it should exist. Also, it shouldn't be even remotely difficult for them to patch it out. I obviously don't know how their game works, but if it simply pulls off of all the available cards in the game, all they have to do is add a little line of code that removes it as an option. Something like "If the darkness, reroll." Obviously, it'd be more technical, but that's the jist of it.

The Darkness needs a bit of rework. Its too strong to have the dormant as a battlecry, but the way it is, it also fucks ups many plays like the last clip.

Something that literally almost never happens is not something a development team needs to bother balancing. That would be an incredibly stupid waste of their time and resources. It's not their job to make sure things like that never happen.

The probability of evolving a single 3-drop into The Darkness in a Standard format game is a little less than 1%. Each game, you evolve maybe two to three 3-drops, plus double-evolving maybe one to two 2-drops, so you end up with something like a 3-4% probability of this happening in an average standard game with Evolve Shaman. That is very far from "something that literally almost never happens." The Faceless Manipulator interaction is also somewhat confusing, but I'm not sure how to make it better, and that will cycle out soon anyway.

hs has been improving in something that Reynad for example discussed a few years back. About losing a game thanks to RNG, early. Ofc HS is an RNG based game, but has been improving a lot compared to the past. For example how a the knife juggler would win games on turn 2 because of a 50\50. There are many cases like those that can be fixed, in this case, the player ruined his turn 9, for nothing. Its my opinion, but i agree with you in the aspect that is an issue with little importance.

@Eebster, Your numbers are inflated. We are talking SPECIFICALLY about unstable evolution hitting a 3 drop and becoming the darkness. But even so, let's say we are talking about all forms of evolve. As you said, (assuming your math is correct, which would mean there were around 100 4 drops among all classes and neutrals in standard) less than 1%. Meaning, it's not likely to happen even if you played 1000 games as evolve shaman on ladder, which the vast majority of hearthstone players have never done. Your odds of it happening do not increase each time it doesn't happen. That isn't how probability works. If you were to cast unstable evolution on a 3 drop, 1000 times in a row, odds are you won't see it happen even one time. Less than 1% odds most definitely qualifies as "almost never happens". Not to mention the fact that it's STILL better to evolve into the darkness than it is to evolve into doomsayer, and people aren't complaining about doomsayer as a card. That's what i mean about them not wasting their time on something as insignificant as that. If it doesn't happen in the majority of cases, or even a reasonable number of them, we'll be generous and say 10% of the time, then from a development standpoint, it does not matter.

Why would it be bug? It's a 4 mana minion, so it's in the pool of possible outcomes. If you just say you would like it better if it can't be evolved into, I would agree, but it's not a bug.

Because it's a 20/20 minions with a "dormant" battlecry type effect that is applied when played. Darkness is a 20/20 minion and should be evolved as such.
