I was 10 or 11 in 1963 when they played my hometown . Meadowlark cracked me up and Curly was amazing. Those guys could do anything.

So many of these guy are leaving us or have already departed. In the past few weeks we lost Larry "Gator" Rivers #11 and in 2021 We lost Mel "Trick" Davis #19. May they rest in eternal paradise and thanks for the wonderful childhood memories you gave me ❤️

What many people may not know is many of the Globetrotters turned down NBA offers to play in the league. In the 50s into the early 70s the NBA had an unwritten "quota" on black players who could come into the league. There was a time the Trotters were the BEST team on the planet. Their popularity and style of play is what made the NBA give in and opened the door for more black players coming into the league.

Is. I know some didn't go big leagues. wilt & some others.....but globetrotters are great at what they do....yes they can play ball, great......the antics on & off fabulous.....their devotion to charity's......thanks guys yall great...& thanks for the post....

Study the history of the Globetrotters my friend. They were the BEST team on the planet at one time. Many of these guys turned down offers to play in the NBA. The defense was oftentimes part of the act but the talent of the Globetrotters was 100% real.
