I found out from Vets that when cats groom us by licking our hair, it's a way to bond between us and our cats. My son does that with his Russia Blue, and his cat loves it. Lol I worry about hair in my mouth, but he and his cat love it.

The cat fur itself is indigestible and if large amounts are swallowed can cause digestive irritation or digestive tract blockages plus cats fur can harbour worms, ringworm, toxoplasmosis and other bacteria not to mention that humans tongues are not barbed like a cats tongue so your son is not ‘grooming’ the cat in return, only getting its fur soggy and likely upsetting the animal with an unwanted imposing scent
