The idea behind the Japp commercial was to advertise a domestic product in Hungary. This is the Sport szelet/selet (slice). This is a rum-flavored chocolate slice. Many years ago, one summer, the whole country said "Gerappaaaa".. It started with the Sziget festival at that time..
@mrnmrn1Ай бұрын
I don't think that series of commercials was created for Sport Szelet. It was created for Mondeléz, the owner of Sport szelet, who used it for advertising their various chocolate brands in different countries. Me and my father absolutely loved these commercials, and I always felt Sport szelet was not a big enough brand for this high budget commercial series. This is the first time I saw the series with a chocolate brand different from Sport, and it confirmed to me that I was right, it wasn't made for Sport szelet exclusively.

With regards to the Tabasco/mosquito one, the chemical in chillies that makes them hot (capsaicin) only affects mammals, so an insect like a mosquito wouldn't notice any heat. That's why people often put mega hot chilli powder in their bird feeders; it keeps squirrels away but doesn't affect the birds at all.

Speaking of spicy water, I just remembered something wonderful I discovered when I was young and stoned. Get a fountain drink Dr. Pepper. It's not the same when you use a can or a bottle Dr. Pepper. Then, add chopped jalapenos in it. They sink to the bottom and for the first minute or two you notice nothing. Between 2 to 5 minutes, it's like Dr. Pepper with a little bit of heat to it. It's wonderful. The longer you let it sit, the hotter gets. It doesn't get unbearably hot, but the flavor does start to change between 5 and 10 minutes. It's not bad though. Serving size is important for timing how spicy you want it. Personally, I'll like it where it still taste just like Dr. Pepper but with some heat. Absolutely worth trying. I first had this with a tuna sub. It's not a Texan thing, but it should be.

The Japp bar commercials are Norwegian as Freia is or maybe was a Norwegian chocolate company (now flagged out) - however the landscape in the commercial is more like south European, certainly not Scandinavian. Oh dear, this reminded be about going to the cinema in the 1990’s am 100% sure this commercial ran in the cinemas at that time. The text about "Xtra energy" was indeed "Scandinavian" as it would be understood in both Norwegian, Swedish and Danish, even some people in Iceland might also have understood it. The added Spanish text points to the commercial probably have been shown in more European countries - at least Spain. Regards Thomas from Oslo, Norway.

An interesting fact about Yellow Pages was they forgot to trademark that name, so some random guy trademarked it then sued the company for millions. They then changed their name to Golden Pages. When they had enough money, they bought the rights back for Yellow Pages (the fee isn't known, but it's assumed to be more than what the guy got from them several years prior) then changed their name back to Yellow Pages. Unfortunately, they faded into obscurity once the internet went from being a niche thing to an everyday house hold necessity around the mid 2000s.
