This video is actually priceless. It reveals so much about the Jack Russell terrier. It shows how the mom is training these pups to be quick, tactical, and agile because they’re bred to hunt and chase. But mainly it shows how focused and captivated these pups are at such a young age. They are completely absorbed in this lesson from their mother and quickly learning the ins and outs of the tenacious dna they’re made of. Brilliant dogs. One of the smartest animals on the planet.

You had Maddie for 17 years? You were truly blessed & I am jealous. I had Myla for only 10; she died in 2014 & I mourn her still. The Bible is silent on the souls of animals but I know that I will hold her again. This JRT seems to me to be saying 'leave me alone for just 10 minutes - PLEASE! - my poor teats are sore'. It helps to separate mum and pups for times during the day, getting them accustomed to their eventual permanent separation, also helping them bond with humans at a visceral level.

For 15 years I had a couple of Jack Russells......they are soulful and will love you even beyond the grave...I felt mine put his head down on my ankle like he would do with my feet up on the couch in the evening...a day after he had to be put down. You get a lot of bang for your buck with these dogs but you had better be ready to be outsmarted and tricked....they are brilliant. Mine kept me laughing right up until the end. It is easier on you if you have two. They get into their play fight routine every day and it is great for exercise.

I had my QT female jrt for two years until I rehomed her (a lovely retired couple who have a ranch in the hill with acres of land for her roam free and forage). I just want to say one thing: of the two years I had her, from day one, while I sleep at night she will literally stand all night and wait for me to wake up in the morning. I kid you not, she would stand at the same spot and not move all night. In the beginning she made a ruckus all night because she don’t believe anyone should sleep, so I had to train her to remain quiet through out the night but with a catch, she made me promise to be up by 5 am no questions ask, yes not even when winter hits, no exceptions. If there is one character that can describe her, it would probably be the Tasmanian devil in that one older cartoon. All energy and rambunctiousness, no peace whatsoever.

THIS SCENE BROUGHT ME memories of my beloved ´´krypto´´, a jack russell terrier with enough energy to light a small city by night... i found him at the side of the road and he just came to me running, as if we already knew each other, so i just opened my car´s door an he jumped in, it was fate , i guess... my mom loved him so much, he wore out our other dogs, so they played with him righ up until they fell asleep but luckily he had another 4 dogs to play with, so fun was endless for him... he lived for another 10 years and left a bunch of puppies with neighbors´ females, all of them with same endless energy... we miss him so much, even 8 years after he died...

I'm early retired and I live with 3 "pudding" Jacks, they are craziest bunch of dogs that I have ever loved. They do not have an off button. Between the constant snaps at each other and their loud incessantly barking, people are always asking how can I take all of the noise. You actually don't hear it after a while. Either they have blended in with the normal noise or I've lost my hearing. With a Jack, every day is new.

I lost my Jack Russell dog of 13 years, so I got me new one. Part of me was gone. You know you can't take the money with you so I'm going to enjoy Maynerd till my last breath. Thank you for this video as I'm an avid dog lover!

Clyde Cormey That's it! I'm gonna go out and put poisoned food next to dogs just because of this comment. You're part of the reason why dogs will die from poison good job :)

Despawning Enemy, its people like you that are the prob. You dont realize its not the dog, its the people that raise/train it (or not). You just think things are just born bad.

@@CurlyFromTheSwirly Negan's Evil Twin yea say that to a pack of wolves next time they tear a deer apart, or say that to a fucking house cat next time it catches and slowly tortures a squirrel to death. You're a stupid ass dumb fuckin idiot. Things are not "born bad", but they are CARNIVORES, and they have INSTINCTS. No matter how good an animal is, some of them are just designed to murder things and should be illegal to keep as pets, such as big dogs.

Great little dogs, but full of life. My jack russell a Male called chazz, he is now 11 years old, but he's slowly slowing down. We've had him for 10 years, brilliant little dog with so much heart and will never back down with dogs four time his size...

I lived in a house with a Jack Russel and a German Sheppard the jack Russel was the dominant dog. Used the German Sheppard as muscle for all his squabbles with the local cats and dogs in the neighbourhood. Basically, he was a gangster.

Nothing typifies the adorable, playful "fightiness" of the terriers in the Fox, Rat, and Jack Russell families better than this little morning "play" session. Our terriers have always done this same thing, like no other breed we've owned. Our poodles have always kindly put up with it, even playing along of necessity, with much eye-rolling along the way. This exercise may be why these branches of the terrier breed are so long-lived, and tend to stay pretty fit as well. These families of terrier were all bred to relentlessly pursue vermin, or small game---even into the ground, and to kill it. Nowadays, they're quite happy to get their little "grrrr" on with these home MMA sessions. Mommy is teaching them to be good terriers. Gotta love the one with the circle eye patch and swoosh over the other brow---he's the limit.
