I sympathise about Sophie - my family once had a cat who was banned from the local vet and from a boarding kennel if we went on holiday. If we left him at home and a friend went in to feed him and supply drinks, that cat would hurl crockery off the kitchen dresser at her!

Interestingly, when I saw the cat in the candy bowl- apparently certain cats react to mint almost like catnip. It's genetic, and I discovered it when I ate a spearmint and my 8 month old kitten had his face buried in my mustache and wouldn't stop :)

I brought my dog to the vet for surgery. I'm in thrle waiting room. The vet is late. I didn't mind about it but, when the vet finally called me, she profusely apologized: she had to do surgery on a cat, and it resisted against the anesthesia 45 minutes after being injected. 😂 Then, she anesthesiates my dog. Normally, she asks the owner to stay 10-15 minutes, so the pet is deeply and peacefully sleeping when the owner goes away. My dog slept in only 3 minutes. So, that day, the vet went from 45 minutes to 3 minutes anesthesia. According to her, anesthesia is tge best way to know a pet's character, and my dog is one of her sweetest patients. 😂 (Surgery went perfectly well, btw.)

My 2nd cat was very good at the vet. I kept him calm and cool. Even petting him and saying you are such a good boy and a good kitty cat. He was my family pet,too. Even our 1st cat was also good,too. I remembered holding him in my arms at the vet and I saw a guy that brought in his cat in the same color as my cat was. His cat had a little bit longer fur. That was over 30 years ago. Both of my parents had a cute tuxedo cat that came from abusive home before they adopted him inside of their home. He was also my 3rd cat. He hated to be petted with 2 hands or even being hold on to. It took the vet, her assistant, and even myself to hold him. The vet and her assistant were wearing gloves for him. I did w/o gloves because I did knew the cat and even handled him,too. Cats are so different in going to the vet. They could be scared or not.

Cats can be amazing creatures. I befriened a stray cat. The cat got fleas and I got them all over my apartment. I got some powder for the cat. Next time I saw the cat, it got a flea powder bath. Needless to say the cat wasn't happy. However, a couple weeks later when the cat came by again, it was free of fleas and giving me all the love it could. Not sure how it figured out that bath was the reason the irritation was gone. I was just happy for both of us.

My late "Tiger", a Norwegian Forest Cat, loved fighting both the local moggies and cat hating doggies... At 6 months he looked grown up, and constantly ended up in trouble. The vet became Tiger's good friend, after regularely patching him together. 😂❤

Over the years we have cats run the entire gambit of emotions at the vet. Tee who was very sick but absolutely love the attention he got and was happy and purring too loud for the vet to hear his lungs. Blackjack that would either scream from the time he was put in the carrier to the time he was let back out at home of completely freeze up and move less than an inch from where he was set on the scales to be weighed. Stripe took a lot of poking and prodding the first time he was taken to the vet. Temp check ear mite meds and wormer before he started swinging and got the nickname demon child from the vet tech. Pretty sure he gave two people scars that day.

My black cat VooDoo is such a pain. he fights so much when he is in the cat cage and even does his business in it as well. but when we get to the vet and i get him cleaned up, he starts to go nuts like climbing up everything but the very second he see the vets or the techs he is a (the words i used can not be used but start with a b and f) little Casanova or a Don Juan by purring up a storm and getting all comfortable with them. He is though a really good kitty cat and i know the bathroom issues in not uncommon with cats.
