After an unfortunate encounter in the garden, Simon’s Cat goes to great lengths to avoid an imminent visit to the vet. As always, the question remains - will his long-suffering owner Simon step up to the challenge?
After a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2014 to make a longer film, ‘Simon’s Cat: Off to the Vet' became the first 12 minute Simon's Cat film to be produced in full colour.

Q. What's the background of 'Off to the Vet'?
A. ‘Off to the Vet’ film production and crowdfunding campaign was a huge undertaking for the Simon’s Cat Team. Our hope is to produce more long form, full colour content for our fans but without having to turn to them through crowdfunding again. The film was completed in 2015 and submitted it to a selection of international film festivals over the following months. During this time, it was exclusively available to all funders that contributed via our private production blog. The feedback we have received from our funders has been overwhelming positive and we hope they are extremely proud of making the film a possibility. Q. What software do you use?
A. Simon's Cat is made using Adobe Flash / TV Paint / CelAction animation software.
Q. Why does it take so long to make each Simon's Cat film?
A. Even though the films are made on computer software, they are still hand-animated in a traditional manner, frame to frame. It usually takes between 12 and 25 drawings to create 1 second of a Simon's Cat film.

Absolutely nailed it, I laughed so hard. From trying to confine the cats inside subtley to trying to get them into the carrier to the vet experience and the shock of the vet bill. I've watched a lot of Simon's Cat, but this is my favorite so far. So relatable! Cat licking his sore, hiding when Simon gets sneaky, using treats as a lure, the fight to get in the carrier, loud meows on the drive to the vet, perfectly accurate vet routine, etc. Pure gold! The only difference for me ... my cats are always silent on the drive home ... like they know it's over and can relax.

This is all so true. From the "get up and give me food, human" to the drama of going to the vet. My boy is so hysterical when we go to the vet. Once he is in the carrier he will meow like he is being murdered. My vet is only a 5 minute walk away, but the people are always starring at me like "oh my god, what did you do to your cat?!" xD He is a class A drama queen. His sister is braver.

The best part is the surprise on Simon's face at 9:23 how easy going the vet is and how the cat is treated within a minute with no problems. This is so much ME going to the vet with my Cat. One thing that I really liked about this short is the fact that having to go through all the little rigmarole to basically prep your house, for the vet appointment is very true. And I also like how the veterinarian is depicted as being very patient with the cat. Because well 99% of the time veterinarians are extremely patient with pets. Because well obviously pets don’t always like it when we take them to this place because they always associate the vet with pain and misery and fear and all that stuff. Of course there’s Simon’s reaction to the bill. Which is also very true. Vet bills are not fun.

In a time were western animation is over saturated with 3D animation it is so nice to see some 2D animation that is handled with so much love and care. Not to say 3D animation is terrible ,god no, I love Pixar and their movies but it is sad to see that 2D animation has now mostly died out in the West. I do wish anime was more popular in western areas to help bring back that old 2D style, Your Name was a beautifully animated movie with stunning visuals and amazing story but unfortunately it still didn’t do too well in our theaters, it did okay and hopefully maybe more anime movies can come here and show that 2D animation still has some amazing things it can still offer.

Awe that's great to here it is popular in many areas of the world :) I know I love Simon's Cat and all the videos, and though our cats may drive us a little crazy at times, it makes you laugh to see how funny our lives really are with our beloved kitties, and I wouldn't want it any other way!

I love how the vet catches the cat like a speeding bowling ball when it speeds out of the cage. They always know how to handle cats so well. But most cats will jump off the table at least once and look around the place.

Getting a cat into a pet carrier is the most difficult thing owning a cat.

I learned to keep it open and available at all times (my bed is high enough that it fits under there) so the cat becomes very comfortable with it. My cat loved sleeping in there. So when it was time to go to the vet, I usually only had to close the door on it because she was already in it. Is there a place in your house where you can keep it open for your cat? If so, try putting treats in there to entice her inside. That way she will associate the carrier with good things.

I have 5 cats and I'm so enjoying this chanel. It's so spot on😂 They all corky and have their own personalities. The things we do for our cats cuz we love them so much. I will have my car on my lap sleeping and I'm dying to go pee, but I will hold it as long as I can cuz I want him to not be disturbed. But he on other hand wakes me up at 6 am everyday cuz he's hungry!!!
