The Stone Mason gripe is I think a bigger issue. There is a problem that occurs when game development is not retroactively applied to old features. It is painful to see new things not added to Villager professions or older structures or something, because it presents an age gap for different aspects of the game. It makes older features feel even more outdated because they don't include newer functionality. I will praise Mojang's approach to the introduction of Armor Trims in this capacity though. When they added those, they added Armor Trims to many older structures, tying new and old features together. I would love to see this more as it presents a cohesive game experience.

this is also one of current minecrafts biggest flaws. wolf armor is cool, but if you dont want or need it then you have no reason to ever interact with an armadillo ever again. same with goat horns, goats exist entirely to give the player a purely cosmetic item so all the effort that went into the mob is wasted as you might as well just shove it into treasure chest to receive the same level of interaction. old minecraft gave mobs and items multiple purposes, sheep giving wool and meat, cows providing leather, milk, and meat, and lapis being able to be turned into dye. nowadays it seems every update aside from 1.21 is stuck in its own bubble, especially mob vote winners. frogs for froglight, nothing else. sniffer for plants, nothing else. its all just superficial mobs for their own superficial purposes, after which you can ignore them forever

@@brayonyx14 To be fair to Mojang, it is relatively easy to add Cows, and know that in the real world they are used for milk, meat, and leather, and add all of those things in, especially when it is one of the only mobs in the game at all. When adding an Armadillo or a Penguin, or a Frog, what multi-purposes do you even add? I would like to see more food from mobs, but I don't know what else to have these other mobs do. I think part of it is actually the fault of the community and the fans. There are numerous requests, and mods for, various wildlife added to the game. People want Koalas and Elephants and Tigers and Gorillas and Seals and Sharks, and after awhile there just isn't proper implementation for all of those animals. You start needing to distinguish between aesthetic updates, like the existence of Ocelots, and functional updates, like the addition of Armor Trims.

@@LucasKingman As far as I know, Bedrock _physically_ cannot handle a 1 game tick redstone delay, because redstone updates can only happen on redstone ticks (for optimization reasons). From the Wiki: "In Java Edition, redstone ticks are actually not a "real" thing that's handled by distinct game logic, but a term coined by the community to make communication about redstone easier, since most redstone components have delays of multiples of 2 game ticks. For example, a redstone repeater can have a delay of 2, 4, 6, or 8 game ticks, which could instead be described as having a delay of 1 to 4 redstone ticks. Just a little note: As of 1.21, fire protection will, given high enough level, instantly put out fire, making being set on fire not as much of an annoyance. For me personally, that makes it very attractive. Maybe it can finally move up from F-tier.

I think my main nitpick with 1.21 is that Trail Chambers has HUGE potential that has not been fully revealed in this version so far. I still remember my surprise when I found a room with Snow. This is such a simple but effective way to introduce the player to new mechanics (like the menachronics of frostbite. so is the transformation of the Skeleton into a Stray). I've been waiting for months for us to get a room with the same Drippers, or a completely flooded room where the mechanics of Magma blocks and Soul Sand were used. But as a result, the room with Snow remains the only one where other game mechanics are creatively shown like this. P.s. And anyway, there are actually quite a few rooms in Trail Chambers. 5-7 pieces. You get used to them quickly, and that sense of randomization goes down the drain.

Mojang's refusal to make mobs drop their stuff when killed is stupid considering they can make the stuff obtainable both peacefully and not. Some people have said it but take sheeps for example they drop wool when killed but shearing them gives more like you should kill armadillos and turtles for scutes but brushing them (turtles should be brushed) gives more items. Goats drop meat and horn but rarely, frogs their legs for jump boost, sniffers moss or something - although according to the wiki a mob book (not the mobestiery) states sniffers have fur and feathers.

I commented late on the post asking for nitpicks, so I figured it wouldn't be mentioned, but the advancement for killing a Pillager Captain still implies that you get the Bad Omen effect by default, when now, it's just a potion you have the option to drink for the effect, meaning there's no punishment for killing them.

It's designed to make you go and waste a random villager by having them be a cartographer, locking them into that profession by level them up, HOPE they have what you are after, and then, if you're lucky and they do, buy a stupid stinken map that you will only ever use once, abandon that villager forever to never use them again and then dig straight down where the map tells you to dig straight down at. >_>

And when you dig down guess how many entrances there are? A lot. So whenever you actually hit the structure there's a higher chance it's a corridor that you enter and not a combat arena. And in my experience my buds actually stumbled into one while exploring a mineshaft and we raided it soon after and later we did the exact same thing after finding a portal-less stronghold that had one nearby. Also what do you mean by waste a villager? Nearly every village already has a cartographer and you only need to get to journeyman which you would already be able to get wuickly if you have emeralds. There's also no need to hope as on JE it's basically 50/50 and gauranteed on BE, having played on both versions I've got it every time. Also if you plan to take on a trial chamber it is always a good idea to have farms on your base for trading with villagers and PC use. Even basic paper, wool and stick farms will do. Why? Because even going in there with full iron and even diamond is a challenge if you get overwhelmed with trial omens on single player. Even multiplayer has the risk of being flanked and friendly fire. @@Hadeks_Marow

We are talking about the deepslate shell that encases the entire structure so that you can't see it when cave exploring like you can with mineshafts. And your experience with finding it through mineshafts and other structures, that's not by design. That's an issue due to how the mineshaft structure works. I'm talking about intended design exclusively. . . because that's what the original guy I was replying to was referring to, "intention"/what they are "meant to be". What you were referring to is a structure gen issue; a bug; not a design implementation. Not an intention. It's _not_ supposed to work that way. Yes, villages do have level 0 cartographer. . . . but if you know anything about villager mechanics, you don't want a cartographer. You want to destroy their jobsite and replace them with a lectern to get specific enchantment books. . . but this only works. . . if you don't level up the villager. If you level up a profession you don't want by even doing just 1 trade, you waste the villager where they cannot be changed later. Every level 0 villager is a villager you can re-roll. And not everyone wants to make a villager breading farm to make up for the a villager that you buy a single item from. . . one time. . . and never buy from again. It's not like the same villager sells you multiple different trial maps. Meaning every trial chamber requires a NEW cartographer in a NEW area that you have to waste on a 1-off map purchase. I could get INFINITE mending books. . . or I can get a SINGULAR trial map that will be usefully to me one singular time to find one instance of a structure one time and only to then throw that now useless map into a lava pool after I find the structure. "That" is what a waste is. It's the idea of sacrificing something of greater utility for something of lesser utility. Is it a trivial waste? Maybe, but it's still a waste regardless. And if you are after a windburst mace, you are gonna need to go through MULTIPLE chambers and thus have to waste multiple villagers/lock-in multiple cartographers across your world that you also have to bring all the resources to that you need to spend just to see if the coin flip lands on heads. And if it doesn't, that's another wasted villager because now you need to lock-in ANOTHER cartographer, assuming they are in a position to even detect the structure in the first place and don't give you one that you already found. _"There's also no need to hope as on JE it's basically 50/50"_ in vanilla you mean, this changes as soon as you add more trade offers in modded content or have more structures or biomes or new generation datapacts. . . hence the need for alternative INTENDED means of discoverability so that no one playstyle becomes the bottleneck (like how you can't access The End in peaceful mode due to no blaze rods). On top of that, there's a chance they could give you a map to a chamber you already found thanks to a different villager from a different village. So it's not exactly 50/50 for a new trial chamber map after you find your first chamber. And even then despite everything else, if we ignore all that, 50/50 for a wasted villager is still bad odds. Slot machines 1000% are a bad implementation if they are the only reasonable way to acquire content. Lastly, all those things you said you "need" when going to a chamber, you don't need to use villagers to get those items. Many people don't.

I mean Breach is just meant for pvp, so yes it's basically completely useless in singleplayer, but just like the recovery compass in hardcore, it wasn't made for that, it was made with only a select playstyle in mind, and while that makes it useless to others, it's still great to PvP players so it's fine. Mojang seems to be adding a lot more items with this principle, which is fine as long as they don't add to many of these semi-useless features

There's also the issue that vaults don't reset, which makes trial chambers somewhat pointless, and not everyone has the desire or means to go traipsing about to find cartographers and grind for trial chamber maps, or get lost in some random cave deep underground.

@@tabbyearth8377 Bro, please factcheck your own claims. It doesn't reset. They are one-time use but have a max memory of 128 users. It forgets the first user if a 129th user opens the vault and then THAT FIRST USER can open it again (but that's a memory issue and not because of a "reset". This only effects java version, so it's a bug, not a built-in reset). What DOES reset is the trial SPAWNERS. Not the vaults.

I'm guessing stuff like the 1-tick copper bulb getting changed to 2-ticks is due to Minecraft Bedrock having, by a lot of accounts, god-awful redstone. Bedrock as a whole is a complete mess, so Mojang had to compensate by nerfing Java features, for parity. Same thing with bundles, since they still apparently can't figure out how to make them work on touch screen devices, which is just absurd, considering the manpower and funding they have at their disposal.

Am I the only person who never liked using a shield? My shield slot is always empty. Maybe it's the old fashion Minecraft player in me that was used to only using one hand, but I never could get into having a shield when they were first added, and out of habit just never use them anyway. Heck, I can't even remember crafting a shield since they were first added. I most often use the shield slot to hold one extra item stack after filling my inventory and need to return home to put things away.

I try to use a shield but unless I’m using it against mobs with ranged attacks I either forget it’s there or it’s annoying the crap outta me. It got to a point where I looked in the menu to see if I could set separate key binds for the left hand slot and apparently there aren’t. *great.*

my nitpick is monster quality and variety. bluntly put, i believe the monster roster could be a tad improved. all we got was a new Skeleton variant, and a counterpart of the Blaze. oh no, there's nothing wrong with them, it's just... that's it? we basically have a DUNGEON in Minecraft (a *Fantasy* game, at its core) and we only get 2 new monsters? - it also tells me that Mojang can take what's already in the game, and create something new with them (even if they already did that 6 times already). hell, the monsters I'VE come up with use this same philosophy! but i won't get into much detail *unless you ask me to* (and i REALLY want to tell you). variety can wait, despite the relative ease of making them (Warg and Troll, to name 2). but in terms of quality... well, what i basically want an animalistic monster - with a long tail - that spits a projectile attack. i'm effectively asking for a spiritual counterpart of the Ghast. and i'd like it to be part of the Trial Chambers, too. 3 of the monsters i made up fit the criteria (excluding the Dragon, a Boss mob), but i'll focus on 2 of them: COCKATRICE *biomes:* any biome the Chicken spawns in, Woodland Mansion. *drops:* Feather, Venom Gland, Fire Sac. *physical description:* uses the Chicken model, and it's as tall as the player. it can open its beak and has the Ender Dragon's tail (proportionally sized, no spines). it's white like the Chicken, and the tail is green. *attacks:* pecking, spitting Toxic Fireballs. *note:* rare mob. it can fly for short distances to either flee or pounce. it'd rather just run you down and peck you with its sharp beak, but the real danger is its projectile attack: the Toxic Fireball. it leaves behind a poisonous cloud when it explodes. when firing, the wattle on the monster's neck first expands, then contracts on release. it's a visual cue to dodge or block the attack. One big nitpick or critizism is that they made the vaults only a one time use. Which I don't like because that undermines the purpose of coming back to the Trail Chambers which Mojang specifically wanted, the replayability of the trial chambers for players to keep returning to. Yes, the spawners do reactivate again after 40 minutes so you can do endless combats, but what is the point if you can't get any good loot anymore. I don't want to spend hours to find 50 Trail chambers.

Just give the vaults their own respawn timer and be done with it, or at the very least, make it so that trial spawners can be destroyed or deactivated for those of us who want to build a base using the trial chambers.

@@jakeroniclassic I think what mojang means is the mobs functionality will be recycled, but not the mob itself. The mouth monster from the first mob vote would eat enchanted objects and cough up the tool/weapon cleared of enchantments. That mob lost, but the grindstone is a block that does the same thing. the copper golem would interact with copper buttons, and that lost to the allay, but the air elemental shoots projectiles that activate copper contraptions.

Another invetory issue is the copper. Copper blocks are normally painfully expensive (and bulbs even more so without a blaze farm) so when I go to a trial chamber, I usually grab as many copper blocks as I can, but because there are 5 (?) types of each of the copper blocks my inventory fills up faster than light. Now you could say just bring enough shulker boxes, but not all the copper types fit in one shulker box, so every time my inventory is full I have to sort my blocks into my shulkerboxes, which is not fun and definitely requires the bundles we were promised 4 fricking years ago.

Big nitpick for me that seemed to go under the radar for most people is a last minute change I did not like. Spiders and Slimes switched mob categories in a pre-release. In vanilla, Spiders are considered Melee and Slimes are considered Small Melee, but it used to be the other way around. This change doesn't make any sense at all, considering there are rooms that were designed specifically for smaller mobs to crawl under 1 block tall gaps. Spiders could walk under them unlike slimes. The fact that small slimes, which would actually fit under these, don't even damage to the player at all, and their size doesn't even spawn from the trial spawners.

So you only need one banner pattern since it doesn't "use" itself if you put it on a banner, the pattern will still be there, probably why they don't stack. i think the inventory problem in the trial chambers is good as it kind of convinces you to go and get shulker boxes instead of just being able to run in there with iron armour as to get shulker boxes you have to complete the game meaning you would probably have good armour, I think it just adds to the challenge

I think the only use for Breach in a PvE standpoint is Shulkers. A Mace enchanted with Breach can bypass the natural armor resistance of a closed Shulker. Still, you can't put looting on a Mace which soils farming for Shulker Shells. Some of the changes made to the mace past 24w18a were somewhat unworthy, the swing speed nerf, density nerf, and fall damage changes neutered the mace pretty hard.

10:05 This complaint comes from how the trials hardly interact with the rest of the game rather than having locked content. You must go out of your way to play a trial chamber. It isn't connected to progression. It gives some cool cosmetics, a new weapon, and an underutilized potion(ominous). While that last item might be connected to the rest of the game retroactively, the others have no connections with the rest of the game. For example, if you made breeze powder and combined it with blaze powder, you could make frost-fire dust. Then, you could apply that to your sword and it applies freezing and burning to the target at the same time. That is a far more interesting use of an item. The only item that is close to the example are the new potions which revolutionize xp farms. Other than that, the update added a self-contained area with few and rare rewards.

K, let’s be real here: if you’ve got this problem with the trials, wouldn’t it have made sense to say the same about Woodland mansions, Ancient Cities and underwater monuments and any structure that isn’t your base, villages, broken nether portals, the nether fortresses and strongholds? All of which incentive you to explore instead after the end which, let’s face it, is the games end of progression? Also, besides combat, how would the making a new enchantment for the sword do what you just said? Like that’s purely combat, not progression and at that point you got the new weapon, so your argument is now “the items you get from the chambers should do more”? Because you haven’t explained how a trial chamber would fit into the progression of Minecraft. Also, ain’t BREEZE rods to do with WIND, not ice? Like, that wouldn’t make sense anyways Also no, ominous bottles and bad omen aren’t tied to the games progression of straight up beating Minecraft and never have been (edit: when it comes to achievements and advancements they are as they give you one). They incentivise you to explore instead, which wasn’t your origin point and I think is a good thing. To put it in perspective, you’ve had about 13 years to complain about this

I think the “ominous” property of the vaults is changed with nbt data, thus why they don’t show up in the creative inventory. When you look at them with f3 open or pick-block them, they show up as just “vault.”

I tested the Breach 4 enchantment vs Density 5 on someone with maxed out armor and in any realistic pvp setting (Wind charges, cliffs) , Breach does the exact same damage as Density but Density can do even more if you get a very high fall. When combined with Wind Burst 2 or 3 Density gets you some insane height so even against players Breach is useless.

The only thing I can think of for the Breach enchantment is for the trial chambers. If you use the trial omen effect for them then some mobs like skeletons and zombies often spawn with armor on so perhaps the breach can help there. Probably still worse than density but that’s probably something

I think that the mace itself is very underwhelming. I have a 300+ day hardcore world that I updated to 1.21. I loved adding in a new tuff flooring to my base and adding some in to my basement but exploring trial chambers got very boring very quickly and I wasn't even able to get a heavy core but even if I did I don't think it would have really changed much for me. My netherite tools are for the most part not getting replaced by the mace. Another thing is that the heavy core is only used to craft the mace. You yourself in a previous video said that your not a fan of items only having one use. This same issue also applies to echo shards in ancient cities where it's even worse and the only use of them is the recovery compass one of the worst items in survival minecraft

Smallest nitpick or simply gripe for me is no lefty d-pad on the mobile controls in Minecraft. They would have also a lefty joystick, but should also happen at the same time in the near future.

2:27 mojang should add a feature where If the player sneaks while having a shield on, they can use the axe on blocks

Not sure about java but on bedrock you can pretty much guarantee you get wind burst booms from any vault by just painstakingly sitting there are re-rolling the same vault by save-scumming Make a save-->open vault--> close game don’t save and quit--> rejoin and repeat from step 2 for the next 3 hours.
