The reason why the pencil and tack didn't work is that. the eraser end is rubber, while the tack is metal causing it to reverse itself so the rubber stops the electricity while the metal conducts it

yeah but the problem with the pen and the cotton swab is you've always gotta have your hand on the wire for it to actually work, i reccomend taping together the q-tip and the aluminium foil up to the grip of the pen so it's comfortable to hold in your hand and will work nonetheless. for this style of stylus you actually have to have your hand on the conductive material for it to work.
@marushard49744 жыл бұрын
I found crochet hooks work pretty well and they come in a lot of different sizes only thing I would recamend if your able to is for the smaller ones (I use a 1.5mm) is put some sort of rubber cap on the end or somehow file it down some so it's smoother and has less of a chance to scrach the screen. I find it to be a lot better then using a wet qutip or cotten swab stuffed into a pen.

I do wish it were explained a bit more scientifically.. for example.. how do you jump from dry cotton swab to wet (without looking at other videos)? There are usually intelligible reasons an engineer would choose to use something that would improve design.. I was hoping this vid would tell me why certain materials work better than other materials vs being another video on the various diy stylus types.
@bcrem3786 жыл бұрын
All of the materials must conduct electricity in some way.
@AnthonyFrank846 жыл бұрын
Only things that can conduct electricity work. Electricity actually is generated on low levels from your body. If you think about it from that perspective it will help with choosing materials.

@fungalwater31753 жыл бұрын
@@cggc9510 water is only conductive because of the ionised particles in it which can move freely. If it is frozen the ionised particles can't move freely. Ice probably won't conduct without a super high current

Basically what I did was get a wire from a broken charger rap it around a pen the end of the wire should be inside of the pen with the ink removed then use an electric tape to seal the wire and it also works as like the conductor (dont know if that was the right term) then get a cotton bud cut it in the middle get a half then put it inside the pen then dip it in water very slightly and make sure there's little water then boom working ripoff stylus.
@gi-chic30904 жыл бұрын
Hint if you wanna make a stylus i have a easy way 1. Get a pen you can get any pen but the tip of the pen you are gonna use to write make sure its metal 2. Put cotton on the tip 3. Put foil or like a snacks bag that is metal inside use that and wrap it near the tip but not to close it mogut scratch your mobile phone 4. Oh i forgot make sure you take the ink out of the thing that you must take out to put the cotton when your done taking the ink out put the black stick but so the cotton stays and the ink wont go through 5. Make sure to hold the foil well writing or using the stylus or it wont work
@1Re2my13 жыл бұрын
What you really want to do is, focus on the conductivity and to see if you yourself are connected to the conductivity and to watch out for anything that's trying to stop it. Cotton + Water, cotton is absorbent while water is conductive this makes a great combo with aluminum foil with is made out of metal which is also conductive. Get me?

I found your video as I was looking of tips (literally :) ) to make the stylus that came with my laptop have more 'grip'. As it came, the stylus felt too slippery on the touch screen. I wanted it to have more 'grip' to make it feel like a real pen or pencil on paper. Anyway, after watching your video I got an elastic band and fixed it length ways to the stylus. That is, along the whole length of the stylus but looped so the rubber 'band' fitted over the tip and then stretched over the stylus top at the other end. Perfect. Stylus still works and has a nice 'drag' which makes it easier to write.

He didnt really explained the concept behind the scenes. Mobile touch works on the concept of conduction. Here he used a conduction wire, but, to have smooth end we either need cotton or sponze, some times, wet sponze. In the case of ear bud, he used wire, why he supposed to use water, because, there is no proper conduction medium. Water works greatly as conductor. Based on this concept, you can innovate great ideas further. Any who thanks for putting this video but could have explained the concept(small dc/ac conduction flow from one place to other place on touch screen) behind the scenes.
