If you think about it, Deckard is just like Dom in a lot of ways. He defends his family, the ones he loves and cares about. He takes care of anyone who get's in his way. The only reason the audience see's him as the villain is because he goes after the team that we've seen since the first movie. Yeah he killed Han and destroyed the Toretto house but he did so to avenge his brother. I think Dom is the one who would really understand this. I think that's why he reached out to Deckard's mother in the 8th movie, because Deckard loves his family. So he's not really a bad guy.

I think the fact that Deckard helps Dom save his kid in the 8th movie despite all the fights before shows he's a good guy. Deckard wanted revenge for his brother, and I think Dom would too in his position. I think Deckard is a good guy but the movies don't give any back story about him. Like he was a captain who got awarded a medal. Something about it doesn't add up. I think we'll see more on his life in the next movie "Hobbs and Shaw"
