The R107 is one of the best Mercs (up there with the W123). I was at my local Mercedes dealer last week and in the showroom they had a W198 300SL Roadster and a 1984/85 R107 380SL The next time I'm there I'll be taking photos of these cars. They're both in beautiful condition.

@GoldenCroc Жыл бұрын
Yep, I was thinking the same all the time, terrible spray pattern... I was thinking the bottle didnt have a spray setting, or what would be the reason for the concentrated stream? Seen him do it before many times I think, he must have a reason if spray is availible to not use it?

I bought the ceramic snow foam from Diamondbrite that you featured in a previous video. It’s a great product. The dirt just fell away after a few minutes…. but, while the product itself was just over £8 with your discount code it cost over £20 when the postage to Belfast was added. I’d try more of their lines but not with those costs! There is free postage for orders over £20, & I was going to add a few more items, but then I noticed it doesn’t apply to here. Gripe over.. great video as usual!

Cars in this condition used to be advertised as 'ready for restoration'! I recall a customer coming in for wheel balancing, after hitting a really bad pothole. There was a lump twice the size of that one in a sidewall...and on a nearly new tyre too, he was not best pleased.

Very nice, Matt! I am SOOOO tempted to buy one for occasional use if I had the space, and to an extent the fuel consumption is a put-off. Congratulations to Steve despite the challenges ahead! In terms of long-term storage, one suggestion made to me was to use fabric softener sheets stuffed in all the places that rodents like to visit. I don't know how effective it is, but rodents can be very naughty, indeed eating much of the wiring of my brother's Honda Fit years ago. I love the pre-1995 Mercedes models that were built to last and had some modicum of exclutivity. The Mercedes models of the present day are "a dime a dozen" as we yankees say, and to me simply uninteresting, gaudy things traded in every three years for the next lease. The traded models go to the next owner, and if things go wrong, what does Mercedes care? The car was not purchased new by this owner, and they can make money off this person with repeat visits to the dealership service department for all the official manufacturer equipment, like air for the tires.... But getting back to the pleasant classics of the past, I still see some around occasionally despite my area being primarily new car territory. Additionally, I notice them for sale quite often. I will look at this post in the future and think...."If you were so tempted, why didn't you buy one when you could afford it?!!!!!" Cheers, and thanks for the FD update!

I'm thinking even Diamondbrite isn't going to make this recovery example sparkle! To be honest though, impressed at how easily the ingrained yuck came off and that Bisen did an impressive first clean on those seats. Saying that though, it would take a very brave person to take this on... I don't even think Matt would consider this (although after seeing your Mini project I never dismiss anything now). Great work Matt, and good luck for whoever buys this classic!

The first time I tried to watch I got no sound. Second time is a charm. That car is beautiful indeed. I do not think that spec was even offered in Canada. From what I see, fabric upholstery was not, only a choice between MB Tex or leather. Given the price class these were fighting here in Canada, power windows, lock, and likely seat were standard fitment. Do love the sound of one of them, too

When this was parked / abandoned you could still buy a new Rover 75. It’s realistically only fit to be trailered to the NEC Restoration Show as a static display, or stripped systematically to reveal why you should really NOT take on something like this. This sort of thing has always been driven to within an inch of its life and left out of sentimentality rather than being broken at a specialist.
