My S211 E 320 CDI now has 635,000 kilometers on it. For Americans, that is close to 400,000 miles. So your wonderful blue E-Class has got much more life in it. I am a mechanic working for Mercedes-Benz here in Austria and I bought my car new back in 2008. The most important thing is regularly maintaining your car. Mine gets an oil change every 10,000-12,000 km. By doing this, you ensure that the oil doesn't degrade or dilute with diesel. I wish you many more happy miles with your car.

@dereinegreg3 ай бұрын
@@cahitakbay if you want to go with an E 320 CDI, I can recommend buying one that hat its oil cooler replaced already, because this is a very expensive repair to have done. Around 2000€ up to 4000€. And definetely check the timing chain. When you check the car, make sure that the engine is cold, so you can hear if the timing chain is rattling. If it is, you can expect another 500€ to 2000€ of repair costs. On my car, I have done all of the expensive repairs, since I am a mechanic myself. And try avoiding cars with SBC brake systems. If the unit fails, that is another 1500€ to 2000€. These cars weren‘t cheap back then, and many have a lot of extras and options. Everything can fail, since these cars are getting older and not younger.

Knowing the OM642 engine as i do, it would be worth mentioning that the purple oil cooler seals are infact the uprated ones. The orange ones are the common failure parts. Talking of ornage seals, there is a mis conception that every drop of oil that drips out of the turbo housing and onto the swirl flap motor comes from the turbo. The other culprit is the PCV valve on the back left of the head as you look from the front of the car. The diaphram inside ruptures and allows the oil to flow into the breather pipes towards the turbo. People then see the oil sitting around the large orange seal that connects the "Y" pipe to the turbo and spend loads of money replacing the turbo when in fact the problem is still there AKA PCV. I would change that valve asap and the small and large orange seals. Other common issues with these engines are the freeze plugs which again are on the back side of the engine. i will post videos below to show you these. the swirl flap motor again goes MIA with oil contamination as i mentioned above. To get around this you can do one of 3 things. leave as is if no oil is dripping out of the Y pipe, You can replace with a brand new one which isn't cheap or you could do what is a common fix and that disconnect the plug to the motor and put a resistor across 2 of the pins which fools the ECU to thinking that the motor is ok. Again i will add the video showing you what resistor to use. It's a 4.7K resistor. The glow plug relay is another common unit to go wrong. It's fault is one of the conatct pins inside breaks away from it's solder joint and causes issues with starting from colder temps. Again, you can just get another unbit or you can prize the lid off and resolder it back together. It's a fiddly job and the circuit board it covered in a mastic layer to stop[ moisture getting in but you can cut it away to get to the broken pin / leg. Turbo actuators can also go bad. The this green "O" rings in the large aluminium pipe on the top of the engine can also perish and cause running issues. Don't use cheap glow plugs as these will burn out the glow plug really quickly. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a33OiKawgryDp7s&ab_channel=MBDieselFreak kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYGtdIqOlK2Aj80&ab_channel=ScottElliott kzbin.info/www/bejne/o33ZnYl6h5mpjNk&ab_channel=MyMateVINCE Hope this helps.

Awesome video man, it's nice to see someone actually doing videos on the om642 v6, there's not many people out there who do much on these engines. Also a nice upgrade would be the elephant nose mod to the breather pipe(prevents oil seeping onto the swirl flap motor and causing failure)... straight piped these cars sound insane 😂(I'm running stage 3 boltons).... a tune ... also with vediamo change the throttle curve to kld2 and torque limits off and set to msg (this really wakes up the car ) you can also fool around with vmax and egr+cats off . The egr really fouls the intakes, I have no emissions on my car , 2014 C350 CDI . With vediamo you can always turn the emissions on for inspection and off after . All the best though, can't wait for the next video!👍🏻

The oil cooler seals have already been done, they were the updated purple version.

Ah, I was wondering about that. Thanks for the info!

@@WaldosWorld looks like you didn't prime/purge the oil circuit. The best practice is to replace the oil cooler, and then crank the engine several times without the injectors installed (no crank load). There is a high likelihood of the new engine spinning the rear rod and main bearings, but you might have been lucky that the engine didn't start on the first time.

Waldo you are Wise beyond your years …you are spot on about the aftermarket auto parts it’s like you had a 40 year automotive career and then you were born and now you do KZbin i’m always impressed how much information you gather before you do a project German car technical information is never easy to get with all their laws /rules on proprietary information.

It looks super GREAT - and it runs forever - Here in Europe, these Mercedes drive forever - and people are really happy with them. You have made a good purchase, but most of all, you have done a fantastic job of putting the blue version in a great condition👌👍
@lchebuhar92122 жыл бұрын
Car turned out great! Another advantage to the blue one was the clear title - higher resale should you decide to send it off to a new owner! 💪👍🏼

Most non honest mechanics hate these kind of videos , great job 👏🏼 please make more videos about European diesel and rare cars . That Benz will last 40 more years if well maintained unlike the junk they want to sell us here in the USA nowadays

What a great video, very different from what I'm used to see on KZbin. The analysis of the broken engine did it for me. Keep it up. On to the 1,000,000 subscribers :-) You have a new subscriber 😀

Words of advise from my experience salvaging vintage Mercedes-Benz trucks, vans and cars. One can often save money when you get a U-HAUL trailer for one-way travel. Not always, but it's worth checking. Benefits are that you don't have to haul an empty trailer. And save cash with a single day rental!

Question: instead of changing the transmission control modules would that work if you just reprogram it?

Thank you Waldo and Aspen for another great adventure. I think you made the right call with the blue car ... it really does look good in that color, especially with those new wheels & the fall background at the end! Keep up the good work =)

Owner of a w210 E-320 Wagon here. Gas 3.2 V-6 is a GREAT engine. But, I'd love to try a V6 TD Benz but they made them so freakishly rare almost nobody has seen one / can buy one. Whenever I see a post on Benzworld from an E-class Diesel, its from a Non-USA country. I think we need to TOSS the stupid EPA out of our country FOREVER, their a BS agency that wields Unconstitutional power over consumers & manufacturers Automotive Liberty to provide, purchase & enjoy practical & fun cars like these !
@jimmyhagglund84352 жыл бұрын
Waldo, i don't know if you know this, but the injectors have a specific codingnumber that is unique to each injector. The engine will run on any coding, but to get the engine to run the best(fuel economy/emissions), the coding should be corrected. It's stored in the engine control module. If you can get power to the other car, you could read the codes there. Otherwise you need to get to the injectors themselves and read the numbers directly on the injector.
