Thanks for making this video. My motor axel was rusted on to the wheel so the hex key wouldn't loosen, had to use a sawzall to cut it off and buy a new wheel. Furnace works great now, hiring a pro would have definitely been faster, but this feeling of accomplishment is awesome. My part numbers for my Carrier WeatherMaker 8000TS were: HC21ZE118 Draft inducer motor LA11XA046 wheel LA660003 fan Found cheaper than buying local on eBay and Amazon. Good luck!

It's not rust. Loctite was used on the grub screw and *MUST* be reapplied during assembly. It's all metal so don't be shy to use heat to break it free. For a really cheap repair if just needs new bearings it uses # 608. Doable but may be too much for the DIYer.

@@SerenoOunce Man, I owe you guys big-time. If I hadn't seen this comment about Loctite, I would've had to go the saw-cutting route (and waited another day to get a new hamster wheel). I got the grub screw off with elbow grease, but the wheel was still stuck on and nothing worked... until I went at it with a propane torch for a good minute. The local HVAC wanted to charge me over $600 plus labor to replace the motor, when the part was on Amazon for $60. My family is getting warm now, thanks to all of you!

Nice video, thank you. Sometimes, the harmonic balancer keeper washer gets worn out. Try replacing just the keeper washer first before buying the more expensive components. When initially testing the inducer spin, give it some help starting by hand spinning the harmonic balancer clockwise as fast a possible until the inducer spins on it own. You can draw a line across the end of inducer shaft so that you can tell it is spinning. The power needs to be on and the safety power cut-off needs to be held or taped down while you test it. ALWAYS Turn off the power before touching any of the electrical components.

Hello Kevin, My house is without heat for more than a month now. Parker Pearce (hvac co) charged me $342 just for diagnose, and now they tell me they cannot help me because the parts/parts are discontinued. I could not find a cross reference for my unit which is a 2004 Carrier 8000 Weather Maker m/n 58cta070-10112, s/n 2504a26011. From your video, which is very clear, if the inducer motor assembly parts are interchangeable, it should be a breeze to replace. Thanks to your excellent video. Can you help me? Henry Tham.
@KevinPon.2 жыл бұрын
Hi Henry, the inducer motor are interchangeable between different brand of furnaces. They use the same blower. You will have to make sure you order the same part # or the same part but have interchangeable part #. Sorry they charged you so much money for little outcome... they can easily try to look around for the part or even from online order...

Thanks for making this video Kevin, it's appreciated. Never thought I would find my furnace on youtube , everybody's furnace looks different. I have the same looking furnace (Carrier WeatherMaker 8000TS with ComfortHeat Technology model # 58CTA070-12 from JUL 2002), the pressure switches and your furnace inducer motor looks exactly the same. My inducer motor is making some noise but hasn't failed yet, so I bookmarked your video for future reference. I do notice that the ground wire for mine is not attached to the grounding screw like yours is, it runs just fine but I suppose I will go and re-attach the ground screw. Just curious,1.) where did you buy the inducer motor? 2.) what's the cost? 3.) Do you have part numbers? I looked on repair clinic, the motor part # for mine is HC21ZE125 for $114.65, if i buy the entire assembly it's 326628-761 for $414.07.

Happy to hear my video worked out for you 😊. I got my inducer motor from a local furnace shop but you can find one on Ebay as well. It was not cheap! This part is pretty much the heart of your furnace. It cost me about $320CAD I think. I just replaced the same inducer motor in my identical 2005 furnace today as we woke up to a cold house. A bit of troubleshooting indicated that the inducer motor was the issue. I was able to buy the replacement locally at AMRE Supply (www.amresupply.com/part/HC21ZE126-CARRIER-INDUCER-MOTOR) for CAD$275 as I had to get the motor right away. If you have time, you might consider ordering from the states for US$125 (www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts?query=HC21ZE126). They ship to Canada at a reasonable price. Also, if you remove the one screw that holds the pressure switches and move them off to the side, it is much easier to get the motor assembly in and out. And there is no need to remove the angled screws with the big washers until the unit is completely removed. Good luck.

Mine started squeaking and based on one of your other comments that is an indicator it will die soon. I can buy just the motor like in this video for $60 or the whole assembly for $375. Replacing only the motor should be all I need, right? I don't understand why the assembly is so much more when the motor is probably the most expensive part.
@KevinPon.3 жыл бұрын
That's correct. All you need is the motor. You're lucky that you can buy yours for $60. I tried to find just the motor itself but they all cost around $350++

@@KevinPon. oh wow I guess I am lucky lol mine must be older or something.
