FURNITURE FLIP || DIY WOOD BLEACH TECHNIQUE || FURNITURE TRANSFORMATION

Hi Everyone! In todays video, I'm going to show you all how I went about my most recent furniture flip by using a DIY wood bleach technique! This is my first in-depth furniture transformation where I take you along step by step and show you how I transformed this wood veneer desk that I got on Facebook Marketplace for FREE! To match my style of home decor, I wanted the desk to look old and vintage. I wanted to veneer to resemble old primitive wood that had been bleached by the sun. Looks amazing! I put my bleach in a spay bottle I find it easier. Also I use soft wax rather than a sealer, and it doesn't leave a yellow tone.

Always use water based to avoid the yellow oily colour. Any varnish with spf also contains yellow pigment which is what protects the piece from the uv rays. Ive totally binged watched all your vids, im soooo happy i found you!

I watched this twice. Once to see exactly how you did this, but again to try and figure out what color the outside of your house is. I know you love Sherwin Williams like I do. Can you share? *Well Done* . Jenna, this piece came out amazing! I am in process of sanding down all of my 1965 luan doors, applying stain and sanding most of it off for a rustic weathered look. It's A LOT of work, but so worth it. I used a matte poly to finish one door, it still had a sheen which I didn't love. I am going with the Varathane finishing wax in clear matte. Love your channel and style!

I went thru my whole house and sanded every door and the entire kitchen…what a job! But like you said, so worth the time and the mess. I left it the bare wood color throughout and just waxed everything and so far so good! ☺️. And it hardly costs anything, just sandpaper and an orbital sander. Basically gave the whole house a new look for just a few hundred dollars and a few weeks’ time. TIP for anyone wanting to do this: sand down something small, or get a piece of raw lumber and get it paint matched at the hardware store. Then you can take a tiny brush and cover those tiny places that are agonizing to sand. I thought of this brilliant idea toward the very end of my project. 😉

Beautiful outcome, that is an amazing transformation. I haven't tried household bleach but think I'm going to give it a try seeing how well your desk turned out. I've used actual wood bleach but it takes just as many applications and costs a lot more. If you haven't already discovered it other strippers work better than Citristrip, and most people use a piece of cardboard to collect the mess as they strip, makes clean up a lot easier =)
