I love the organised chaos of this. At least someone always seems to know what's going on when people get lost, and it was heart-warming to see the lad rush to help the lass to her feet again after one too enthusiastic a twirl... Nevertheless, I believe I've heard this delightful dance can result in more serious injuries when performed under the influence of alcohol, and in an enclosed space...

Is it even a ceilidh if you're not performing under the influence of alcohol? ;)

I remember being 5 years old In kindergarten and my music teacher teaching us this while he would play a bagpipe or a flute or guitar, I didn't think I'd stumble across this and remember my childhood back in 2010

Pretty funny to watch people collapsing at the bottom of the set. I'm 73 and I've done this dance twice through no sweat. Here in Minnesota USA.

Very similar to the American style square dance or contra dancing. This Scottish dance looks like fun.

Great spectacle, Mr Burns. But a word of warning: Not for those who have not been exercising their cardio-vascular system ?

Exactly! And the only thing more knackering than dancing an Orcadian Strip The Willow is playing one!
