In this video, I'm back with my review of the Furrion gas stove I installed about a month ago - www.loveyourrv...
Furrion Website Link furrion.com/pr...
Lippert - store.lci1.com...
Amazon - amzn.to/3Xi2cnY
Fair Disclosure: The review sample was sent free of charge. However, I didn’t receive any monetary compensation for the video.
Pros
Looks attractive in our RV kitchen
An oven window and inside light to see food cooking
Lighted knobs to tell if gas is left on.
The low-profile grill sits close to the burners, so higher max heat. Water boils quicker than our old stove at max setting.
Remote spark light for oven pilot light. Tip: open the door at an angle to see the pilot light reflection
Knobs blue light can be left on as a night light.
Cons
The rough coating on burners and grill looks good but could be more challenging to clean and rubs off easily from metal pan bottoms.
The oven temp cooler than the dial indicates, about 50F. But at the same time, the lowest indicator setting is 350F. Maybe a dial misprint?
The folding glass cover looks nice but gets in the way. We like to use counter space behind the stove for dirty dishes, so I removed it.
Sparker is loud. Since there is 12V source wiring for the lights, I'd like to see a push-button electronic one.

If you pull the oven knob off you should see a slot for a screwdriver. Turning that while holding the outer cylinder will allow you to calibrate the oven temp to your oven thermometer.

I checked there, and no screw adjustment. Also, checked the manual, and no mention I could find of a calibration adjustment.

We installed this same Furrion RV range in our 2011 Airstream 23’ International Serenity last year. This is the 3rd one we have tried where the first two were replaced under warranty due to the inaccuracy of the oven temperature. We continue to have an issue with the actual oven temperature which does not match with the instrument panel dial. We always have to set the dial temperature at least 100° higher on the dial to get the correct temperature inside the oven. We strongly suggest using an oven temperature gauge to be sure the oven heats up to the temperature you need for proper baking.

wow 100 degrees is a lot, I find mine is around 25-50 degrees off. But once I knew that I haven't had much of a problem cooking and baking with it. One thing I've found is unlike the previous Wedgewood stove I don't need a pizza stove in there anymore, seems to have pretty even heat and not burning the bottoms of things. Cheers, Ray

Go to Home Depot and get a piece of metal machine mesh. It is stiff enough to handle her express pot easily. Cut a 8”x8” piece and put it over the hole above the flame. No accidents that way. Great review!

Thanks Ray! We have the 3 burner Atwood stove you replaced. The temperature dial is also 50 F off. I use a oven thermometer which helps for baking. Our Atwood came with a metal cover which we love because it adds a lot of counter space.

My Atwood real oven temp was actually pretty close to the dial temps. Maybe they don't calibrate these things very well at the factory.

That glass cover is a major advantage for me because of the limited counter space in my Arctic Wolf 295QSL8.

Makes sense for some use cases, for sure. I think a metal one would be better but glass looks nice. :) I got myself a nice teak butcher block for extra space when I installed a stainless sink. Can always lay it over on the stove top. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWnFknivf9mJiJI Cheers, ray

If you have a label maker, you could make new temps on a black tape/white print. That would give you the correct temps. We plan on doing that to ours when I verify with a remote temp monitor.

Yes, good idea, I had suggested that to a commenter as an idea. Personally I'm the chief cook so its easy for me to remember. Seems to be a 50F degree difference versus my old stove. Cheers, Ray

Sorry the top doesn't work for you, love ours. Dirty dishes sit on top providing extra counter space. Yes, grill is hard to wipe. My furrion has a two part grill top so easier top clean in a sink. Temperature is cooler in oven so crank it up. Thanks for the video. Maybe will see you down the road.

To back down heat on top burners a simmer plate helps. Wolf Range at one time had a cast iron simmer plate that worked really good. Think most that are made now are stainless steel. Electronic ignition on top burners can be a pain! If there is a draft they will constantly spark. If flame moves from ignitor it will call for ignition!Most thermoststs are built for a 10 to 20 degree hi or low. If they are more than that they may be deemed defective. Manufacturer should have specs on temp deferential. Calibrating more than 10 to 20 degrees is normally the recommended amount.

Glad I have a manual ignition then. :)This oven doesn't appear to have any method of calibration that I can find. Checked all around the temp knob, no adjustment screws that I can see.
@donnac.1609
@donnac.1609 Жыл бұрын
@@LoveYourRV If there is a calibration screw it would be hidden by the temp dial. Manufacturer, Furrion, shou!d be able to tell you how to calibrate and if it is recommend. They should have specs on that thermostat.
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
Here is what the thermostat knob looks like. I don't see anything on there that looks like an adjustment and the owners manual has nothing about adjusting. www.ebay.com/itm/175505533038 Personally I'm happy that its 50F off to the cool side. If it was what the plastic dial indicates then 350F would be the lowest possible temp. Not great for just keeping food warm. Cheers, Ray

I totally agree with your observation on that spark igniter. I did the stove mod, based upon your KZbin video. I mean, my propane grille in my sticks n bricks has that kind of igniter, how tough is it to have a decent (quiet) igniter?

I wonder if you could coat the burner grates with a high temperature grill paint or something so it would be less abrasive. I have that same material on mine but I didn't really think about it until you mentioned it.

Greetings Ray, Did you use a pizza stone or tiles on the bottom of the oven when baking? Thanks, Gordy
@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
Yes, I do. Showed it in the install video and discussed that I'll have to remember to remove it when traveling so it doesn't break the door glass. Have added that to our depart check list. I find the pizza stone works well to make the heating more even and prevent burning the bottom of things like cakes.

They have there pros and cons and don't compete with a good home gas oven. The Wedgewood oven was closer to the temp indicator but the Furrion cooktop boils water faster and so far the sparkers seem to work better. Wedgewood had a better grill coating. The shiny coating lasting much longer and easier to clean. Love the glass door and oven light though so have to give the edge to Furrion as my choice. I can live with the oven temp differential as it still bakes things fine and grill not looking perfect. Cheers, Ray

@LoveYourRV
@LoveYourRV Жыл бұрын
There wasn't a safety concern. Inside the oven there is what is called a thermocouple. It's job is to sense when the pilot light is on and then allow gas to pass through it, like switched valve. No pilot light then no gas can escape. :)

Hello Charles I never installed the igniter on the Wedgewood oven as it never had one. I just replaced the turn manual dial with a push button battery operated one. Still lit the oven on my knees. www.loveyourrv.com/rv-gas-stove-upgrade-mod-push-button-igniter/ But there are videos out there that some people modded the oven to have a igniter in the oven.
