This is advice that should be taken seriously and that every furry should follow and this very useful for those that are new to the fandom or going to a con for the first time. Considering MFF is right around the corner, now would be a good time to practice this etiquette. And as always, great video! Much love!

When you were talking about the crammed elevators, my first thought was “just use the stairs if you’re able” Then I remembered that a large number of fursuiters have large beans on their feet which makes it pretty impossible to go up stairs 😅

TBH, I can so relate experiencing these issues myself. Especially the elevator con. I have not experienced a con without that drama around elevators. And really, this topic isn’t talked about enough. And yeah line cons are so annoying. Especially for us that want to get in suit but can’t yet until we get our rego but really want to and yeah I get that. But thankfully with FurDU, they had no lines but instead QR codes to when to pick up your rego. All the topics and issues around con etiquette Stormi especially the dealers den and the costume not consent rule, you covered it really well and you even did it on behalf of all of us that suit up in cons. Knowing that in all cases, there are humans in those fursuits you meet.

Funny thing: a few days ago, I watched a video about Furry Con Dos and Don'ts by Pocari Roo that covered a few similar topics to the ones in this video. That being said, more videos like this should be made to spread information and awareness on how to have fun and the proper things to do and whatnot at fur cons. Keep up the good work, Stormi.

i went to TFF last year and i was in line for an hour, and since i refused to take my fursuit head off i couldnt see where i was going so there hwere a few times i had to run to catch up. after i got my badge tho it was a blast! and even waiting in line was pretty fun, my grandma officially became a furry and i got to talk with some other dino mask suiters!

the bit about saying xyz costs too much is really important. if for some reason you're incapable of keeping your thoughts to yourself, remember at the very least that there's a huge difference between "this costs too much!" and "i wish i had enough for this!". one makes it seem like the artist is charging too much for their work- with all the disrespect that implies- and the other correctly identifies the issue as your own lack of funds. this applies to artists outside of conventions and even outside of the fandom too! the vast, *vast* majority of self-employed artists already underprice their work just to make a profit. the reason you can buy (insert item here) at (insert big-box store) is sweatshop labor and corporate undercutting. those prices are low because that labor is UNDERvalued, not because artists are overvaluing theirs.

TBH, I don’t see any disrespect in “I wish I have enough money for this” because it shows you respect the person and want to support them financially. And don’t get me wrong with saying that you show your appreciation to one’s work. I say that comment sometimes be it as a pre made suit, a part, or even art commission. Down to a plushie. And even in my videos, I was saying things like “wow” and “I love this” when I go into dealers dens and I give the artists a chance to advertise themselves in my vlogs whilst in the dealers den or artist ally’s. So I know what you are on about. And sometimes, I like to do these vlogs to even remind my audience that even premades can be very expensive.

Very well informative ^^. I doubt any of the furs who display poor etiquette unless they’re a child or don’t understand social cues well will change (like the ones who yell & smell horrid) but ill try to be hopeful 😅. Also idk if I missed this, but if you have a suit, something you can do is not put it on until get to your destination spot, carry it in a backpack/any bag you can carry around. that way you don’t feel like you need to use the elevator since they can be difficult/even dangerous to walk around let alone up and down, that way you can walk down the stairs just fine (unlesss you have a disability of course) which will give the elevators more access room and less likely to break all the time.

Oh yeah, a lot of conventions employ this principle, but not at all! Some use a single uniform line that eventually forks into several depending on your badge tier so to speak, others just use one line entirely

Finally got around to watching this! I must say you did a great job on this Stormi! I love your edits and it makes it much more engaging and interesting! I especially loved the Undertale Stanley Parable bits! Also that part where you applied the retro filter on the video and your voice! You really spare no effort in your editing! The information of course is the msot important part, and it was all presented effectively! This is for sure a video that I will revisit! I knew the part about the fursuiting not being consent already, but a reminder never hurts! That dealer's den bit was a;sp great and I didn't know that stuff so thank you! Also nice use of incorporating the other skit parts! Overall, you did a great job on this, and I can't wait for the next one!

I'm dreading the day I (some day) get a fursuit & attend my first con because of the horror stories of people not taking no for an answer, no concept of personal space, boundaries or consent, etc. Also severe anxiety plays a role in this feeling.

I can tell you from experience. The selling of fursuit parts at high prices is hoping you make minimum wage from the hours you spent on the projects. Asking for higher prices is like going from 8$ an hour to 20$. That's how much effort they spend making something perfect. It would be well worth the price most of the time. It's not easy xD

Stormy is professional, polite, intelligent, patient, so I get why she made this video. A vary well made video, but I still wish videos like this one were NoT needed. It’s mind blowing that these same issues are still prevalent. Do you think more con staff would help? Or I’m a huge fan of more Handlers if possible, even rent-a-handler. I have to say, BLFC 2023 didn't have much, if any issues with elevators or lines. It went really smoothly. Badge pickup only took like 20 minutes.

Trust me, you aren't going to come up with a way to game the elevators that the con staff doesn't know about. There's a reason MFF makes everyone get out when the elevators get to the lowest floor and only allow loading on the mezzanine level for the main tower elevators. My best suggestion if you are able is request a lower floor and use the stairs as much as possible. You'll get to and from your room a LOT faster.

I've been to probably 30+ conventions in my life, only 4 specifically furry cons (they've become my favorite c: ), but it's safe to say I've got a hang on what to do, what not to do, and about what to expect. This past time at IFC, me and my friend-- neither of us in suit (not that it would have mattered but just to set the scene, we were just a couple of random people minding our own business)-- were sitting on our own in a fairly secluded hallway off to the side of the busier parts of the hotel, looking at schedules and chatting about what we wanted to do. A person in a full husky suit was walking by, which we didn't even really notice, UNTIL he suddenly jumped down to all fours and quickly crawled across the floor up to me, over my legs and practically IN MY LAP so his suit head was nose to nose with me, and yelled "GOT ANY GAMES ON YOUR PHONE???" I was so taken aback I just stared at him for a second and lamely went "uhh I've got sudoku," which was apparently not as much of a reaction as he wanted bc he called me boring and went away. lmao I know the guy was probably just trying to be like, cute goofy silly furry, but man, if that had been my first con or I wasn't as generally chill of a person, that would have traumatized me. 😭 Not even to mention people with any kind of assault trauma, or who just don't want a COMPLETE STRANGER being that close to them with no warning!!! I don't understand how some people think they can just blatantly disrespect others' space and boundaries like that. Like, you're not just a big cute puppy, you're a grown adult in a public social setting, and I don't even KNOW you, DO NOT ENTER MY SPACE WITHOUT PERMISSION 😭😭
