The measures will be set out by the prime minister in Parliament before an address to the nation to be broadcast live at 20:00 BST on Tuesday, 22 September.
It comes as the UK's Covid-19 alert level moved to 4, meaning transmission is "high or rising exponentially".
The government's chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance warned there could be 50,000 new coronavirus cases a day by mid-October without further action - which, he said, could lead to more than 200 deaths per day by mid-November.

the way the gov deals with the pandemic is a drama. not a long time ago, the gov just encouraged people to go back to work and now they ask people to work from home if possible. apparently, they do not fully understand what COVID-19 is

I've a great scheme to replenish the Chancellors coffers; When Trick and Trace (actually that'd be great over the Halloween season: "Trick or Trace" by the Government!) do speak to someone I think, during the same call, they could attempt to sell double glazing, check your recent accident history (as you may be due compensation) or pretend to be B.T. telling you there's a problem with your internet connection. These are obviously all profitable operations for the original operators and could be easily worked into the existing Civil Service workload. The only real problem I can see is expecting a Government Official to blatantly lie about your internet connection: as you know we only get 100% absolute truth from these guys and I don't think there's any way they'd ever compromise their integrity. Certainly not that nice Mr Johnson and Hancock. "Johnson and Hancock" - come the revolution they've got a ready-made stage name and could possibly fill the void left by the demise of the Chuckle Brothers. Except the Chuckle Brothers were funny. And probably would have made a far better job of running the country

I'm currently in sixth form and we don't have any semblance of social distancing. There has already been many positive cases in school and they don't seem to be doing anything with the argument that children aren't badly affected, however their parents most definitely will be. It's fucking disgraceful.

Its funny how there is a place to snitch on neighbours and "suspect activity." Online, phone numbers, police, anonymous etc... But No place where people can go click/call/vote to have entire laws/bills/governments dissolved when the public are NOT in favour of them. I do not like being charged through my back side for accidentally driving into a road where i didn't know it was off limits to cars after 4pm and was a CYCLISTS only road. I don't like to be penalised for FORCIBLY wearing a mask on my face whereby i'm breathing my own CO2 in again. I do not want to be forced to send my kids into "learn" LGBTpQ education. I do however want the MP's to have their wages reduced to the "minimum" wage. If its good enough for the public, its damn sure good enough for the public servant. My question, WHERE oh WHERE can we go to have those things done

So were going back into a lockdown yet your not closing schools WHERE HUNDERDS AND HUNDERDES OF KIDS GATHER EVERY DAY WITH OVER 30 KIDS IN THE SAME CLASS!!! me and my friends have caculated If one kid in our class gets sick then we all have to self isolate for 2 weeks and that includs are families to and many of us have siblings age from a few months - around 16 I think maybe older idk And all our siblings go to around 4 or 5 different schools and are in different years spread around the schools not to mention our Parents who have a bunch of different Jobs and also Any friends that we hang out with a break or Lunch (and I have a big friend group) and There is Very little social distancing some halls are even more crowed and the only thing that is supose to protect us IS A FREAKEN MASK Not to mention were teenagers!! WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GONNA HAPPEN *But Oh No that can't Happen Because were At school and like Boris said we can't get it here because were in a learning Enviorment* THATS NOT HOW IT WORLKS BO JO AND A BUNCH OF TEENAGERS SEE TO KNOW THAT WAY BETTER THAN YOU thank you for your time...
