I have no idea what happened but I’m glad that John, being the gentleman that he is, stepped in and stood up for the gunner. Just because someone is standing (or sitting on horseback) out in the public, doesn’t mean they aren’t entitled to privacy in a “family moment”. It boils down to being respectful and putting yourself in the other person’s shoes.

I was a teacher and had students who remind me of Buska. They were good people, but had a hard time when they were called out, and couldn’t step back and admit they were wrong. They always came around. As a teacher I just calmly talked to them as John did, and then gave them a clean slate when they came and apologized. They weren’t bad kids, they just made bad decisions. I knew at home they didn’t get a clean slate, and were yelled at constantly. We never know what someone has experienced in their lives.

I appreciate what you’re saying. Teenagers can be reluctant to accept they may be wrong - they are finding their feet and flexing their muscles when faced with any authority. It’s a right of passage we all go through. But, to be fair, Buska isn’t a kid - he’s an adult. He was told it would be wrong to post that part of the video but he did it anyway. He may have acted like a stroppy teenager by refusing to accept he was in the wrong - but he’s still an adult. It took an avalanche of adverse comments for him to eventually do the right thing. Even then I suspect it was the thought of losing so many viewers when his KZbin existence relies on clicks which persuaded him rather than any concern for the gunner. But taking it down now is too little too late - the damage has been done and he can’t put that particular Genie back in the bottle. The Daily Mail’s coverage was posted on Facebook today by someone who also cares little for common decency and thinks exploiting soneone else’s emotional moment is fair game.

There’s always drama in any given situation but look at the big picture, it’s all about REPUTATION that’s at stake. It’s relevant when considering whether SOMEONE is TRUSTWORTHY. JOHN, your warm demeanor towards others is admirable. We all heard you advising him “don’t post it” in your video when he told you what had happened and you even spoke to an off duty Lifeguard for another opinion. 19:24 she is a sergeant, in HCAV she would be a CoH. And there was no dismound because they swapped with the other group. In a guard change, the first group does not dismount so that it can join the others at the back more quickly

It's flown past or is that just me ? It's great to see them and the possibility they may return more often after November . I love watching the expressions on some people's faces, some really crease me up , the " I'm not scared screwed up face " the wide eyed open mouth stare , the fixed grin , the young men who do their " hard man " pose then run off if the horse so much as blinks ! What that means of course is if you do something mean to another person, it’s like karma takes over and sometime in your future someone is going to do that to you. My mother had to take care of several of her relatives in their final illness who had been so unkind to her. But she maintained until she finally died that it’s always better to be kind to people.

I was a reporter and we ALWAYS.had.to ask even for a quote to be put in print. I inscribed to him. I still think you are the one they tespect. I've just spent nearly an hour trying to catch up with what happened in the past couple of days - I hadn't seen the Daily Mail, nor had I checked Buska or John's channels for the past 48 hours. I haven't subscribed to Buska's channel as I've been unimpressed with some of his behaviour, attitude and language in several of his past videos (and I'm an Australian so not easy to shock when it comes to language). Having found the Daily Mail article, seeing the footage with Buska's watermark, I then found the phone call he put up on his channel which is despicable - you do NOT record and publish a private phone call with another person without the express permission of that person. I'm sure it's illegal in the UK. I hope you're consulting a lawyer on that, John. He is still justifying his decision to post it, despite being told repeatedly in comments that it is illegal for him to do that. Despite listening to his excuses that he only put up the footage of the gunner after three others had posted it, that he hadn't been paid by the Daily Mail, I noted that he admitted he had been contacted by the Daily Mail and granted them permission to use his watermarked footage. He may not have been paid in cash but he knows damn well that with his watermark on the Daily Mail video, he'd get a huge number of people checking out his channel, thus improving his views and possible subscriber numbers. That is a form of "remuneration" and he wanted it, no matter what the consequences for the young gunner. I have no doubt, John, that you did suggest on the day to him that he get permission from the gunner before posting his video - he chose not to do that. That's another indication of his poor choices and lack of concern for others. Saying that others had posted hours before him so why blame him? Firstly, it's his channel's KZbin watermark that is all over the published video in the Daily Mail, by him granting permission for them to use it. Secondly, it's the kind of excuse I'd hear from my 4 to 5 year old students in the classroom when facing consequences for doing something they know was a bad choice ...... "But he did it first. Why are you picking on me?". It's yet another indication of Buska's immaturity and determination to do what is best for him, no matter how it affects others. Buska will never accept responsibility for his actions/decisions nor listen to other's advice. His language is often appalling and his belligerent attitude has been obvious in several of his past videos. I do hope the young gunner's career hasn't been seriously affected by a few seconds of footage showing a human response, with a very quick recovery of composure, being published, both on social media and in the press. I suspect it has been and she is clearly a very young soldier. What incredible pressure to be put upon her. John, please, here's my tuppence worth of advice (as an old woman) - please if asked again to become a go-between for service personnel and other videographers at Horse Guards re. footage, refuse and stay out of it, and only deal with your own videos. You are clearly trusted by the service personnel because of your history of making mature and considerate decisions of when/what you film and what to put up on social media. By acting as a mediator, when one party refuses to do as requested, you, as the mediator, will also then bear the brunt of some of the outrage and anger from the other party, adversely affecting the trust that had developed in the past. Don't destroy your position of trust with those serving in the regiments/troops.

Hi John. Its a shame this happened. If I remember I think just after the event at Horse Guards on your video I heard you advising him not to publish the incident. Also just because other people uploaded their video didnt mean he had too. You were his friend and with any of us when we have a friend who is about to do something we think is ill advised we would be remiss not to say something. I must admit I did listen to the telephone call and I applaud your calmness throughout. You didnt raise your voice and explained your side of the episode very politely and calmly. I suppose in hindsight maybe you could of spoke to him face to face after he had uploaded the video and asked him why he did it and why he gave his permission to the newspaper concerned. From what you said you spoke to him in a group chat but sometimes its better to speak to people face to face but hay its done now. Keep up the great work. I love your commentary and always look forward to your videos. Keep safe xxxx

The NCO at 19' is a sergeant, not a lance bombardier. She has three stripes and the braiding on the front of her uniform is gold rather than yellow (it is lighter in colour). The outgoing guards did not dismount because they will shortly be riding back to barracks to rejoin the remainder of the old guard.

He needs some kind of anger management. When it comes down to it, just because somebody else does something, doesn't mean it's right. Plus, he should have asked directly to the gunner BEFORE posting since it was an emotional situation. Just my opinion.

Too add to my previous comment, just based on the incident from last year, when the twins filmed the horse and rider falling in box, you'd think Buska would have used better judgement in this situation. Regardless of what the circumstances were this time around, the female gunner was in a vulnerable state. I don't know about the UK, but at least where we live, it is illegal to record a phone call without the other party's consent. It baffles me to know he would stoop to that level. I thought he was better than that - I guess not.

Many years ago I worked in a carrot packing factory in Norfolk. One evening the forklift driver saw a horse that had escaped his field munching away at the carrots in the back where they are delivered and stored before going to the washer. The owner lived on site and his daughter grabbed a head collar and got the little escape artist. Straight into a stall with him till they repaired his escape point 😂😂😂

Got to say, I disagree about there being few good beaches in England. I'm somewhat biased but the Northumberland coast is almost all long sandy beaches where even in the middle of summer you can find a spot to be alone. Wouldn't recommend a swim though unless you're feeling very brave lol It was certainly cute seeing the horse get some carrots. I wonder if a certain police officer has been feeding them mints too.
