A little history : i LOVE that her grandmother knows they are descendants of the chata tribe (wrongly pronounced Choctaw, however her grandmother pronounces it correctly!) . They were indeed forced to move from greenwood Mississippi to Tulsa OK, specifically the greenwood district also known as BLACK WALL ST! many people think all the inhabitants of BLACK WALL STREET were newly freed slaves up from slavery but that’s because they don’t tell us the original inhabitants of the Americans were copper colored, dark brown/ “black” aka modern day African Americans. They changed our history by writing us out of it! Andrew Jackson then allowed to re-write history and allot land to non natives through the Dawes List. I love that her grandmother knows her history. Many of us have heard we have native in us not realizing that full ness. More than likely if BLACK WALLSTREET would not have been destroyed by racist whites her family would be there today.

I think you're confusing some info here. I'm not aware of Choctaws in *Greenwood* Mississippi. The current members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians do not live in the Delta. The Choctaws removed from the South - specifically Mississippi - were from other parts of the state. Greenwood was the name of the section of Tulsa known as Black Wall Street. And her grandmother's pronunciation of Choctaw is similar to the way tribal members pronoun it (although her version sounds a little different). The other pronunciation of Choctaw is standard for those not in the tribe.

Rikeshia Davidson : they came from what is now modern day Greenwood Mississippi , LeFlore County. LeFlore was the tribal leaders name, he was mixed raced and signed the treaty to move them to Oklahoma. They felt he was a sellout and voted that he stay in Mississippi rather than come to Oklahoma. The tribes on the trail of tears came from not just Greenwood but all over Mississippi and southern states ( multiple tribes to multiple locations) . For the purpose of this video I am confirming what her grandmother said.. the CHATA tribes did indeed come from GREENWOOD MISSISSIPPI TO THE GREENWOOD DISTRICT OF OKLAHOMA AND WERE GIVEN LAND BY THE GOVERNMENT THEIR JOURNEY WAS KNOWN AS THE TRAIL OF TEARS. Note I’m NOT referring to the fake tribes of Indian nations that were established and given land by Andrew Jackson. I’m talking about the black natives whom were already here.
