We chuck a DI neutral in for the landing light on council voids. We arent allowed to stick it on one breaker. Quite often though, the landing light is the first neutral on the circuit so we have to also put a new neutral in to refeed the upstairs lights as we arent allowed to have joints outside accessories.

The shower flooding reminds me of one I did years ago.The pipe work was surfaced mounted,so they wanted chrome pipes, this was at a time when chrome pipe work had only just come out.Everything went in fine until I turned the water on and the push fits blew off the pipes. Another tip, take the chrome off where it sits inside the push fit couplings, they won't grip the pipe unless they're onto bare copper

These showers seems to be a UK thing, although very common in the UK, here in Oz, I'm not even sure they would be legal... Even though I've lived in England, and been back several times (and used showers like this), it still seems so weird to have an electrically powered water heater within a shower. I'm not necessarily implying dangerous... but definitely weird, compared to the 50 gallon power vented gas water heater in my basement. I guess what it really comes down to is the physical size of the country, the physical size of the houses, and decent natural resource management. (Still weird, tho. lol)

For what it is worth, once you have connected the 15mm cold supply and proceeding to test the feed and shower for leaks, you should always open the shower valve as to allow water to enter the heater chamber and to run though the outfall pipe, then to switch off, therefor testing with water in the system and not just possibly entrapped air

09:00 is there an electric device *inside* the shower cabin? (The sight makes me shiver) okay, you can do whatever you want.... Here, German regulations forbid even a socket *near* the shower. We have a lot of homes with low pressure hot water where a conventional mixer shower will not work adequately. The alternative would be to use a pumped system, but that is not without its own issues. Also worth noting that an electric shower only heats the water it uses & so is more environmentally friendly.

I'm a registered electrical contractor in Ireland and also have 10 years experience in plumbing, so please take this as a constructive comment, that may help you. Putting ptfe on the treads is completely inappropriate, you should tighten the nut to compress the olive and then remove and wrap your ptfe on the olive and refit. Also don't do what some guys do and use paste i thing someone mentioned doing that in the comments, as you don't want that in the system, it can clog the inerds, and the paperwork also say not to use it. You should not silicone around the shower as it clearly states in the documentation that you shouldn't due to the need for air circulation around the internals, bear in mind its a voided warranty issue that this will come up in and it would be leaving you out of pocket even if a fault occurs and it was nothing to do with the fitting of it. Maybe if your videoing the likes of this again you should mention never to power up the new shower, for the first time, unless you have both knobs completely in the left position as you don't want the element heating up too quickly and burning out due to air in the water system, needs to bleed through.
