My kitten tipped over my display for a Christmas show. Broke 15 of the snowflakes. This is a great idea to salvage them into something pretty. Thanks!

Opaline Striker Frit also works very nicely for these snowflakes. It gives a sort of moonstone blue cast to the flakes.

Hi Jamaison, I have a question regarding draping the bowl. I purchased a stainless steel bowl from IKEA. Do I place the bowl upside down or face up for the glass to create the bowl? Thank you.

love this. Do you ever have spikey edges to your snow flakes?
@JamaisonSchuler
@JamaisonSchuler 4 жыл бұрын
Very rarely. I’m usually careful to dust the frit into a heap in the middle of the mold channels, and I take my snowflakes to 1330° and hold for a full hour. I like those results the best. I can easily take care of any occasional spikes with a small diamond file.

Did I hear you correctly? you just draped this over a stainless steel bowl from IKEA? And if so, what diameter did you use. Those snow flakes fit perfectly. Your videos are so helpful!

Hi there! Yes, this was an IKEA stainless steel bowl that I sprayed with ZYP boron nitride spray first. The bowl was about 8”?

The best way to make sure your bowl is big enough is to flip the bowl and trace the rim onto your paper and work within that outline. No measuring!

Jamaison - This popped up on the feed today and I rewatched the video. First this is a great way to use the smaller snowflakes without holes. I also use fishing wire and loop them between two stems. My question is why are you going so slow on the drape? I have made votive candle holders with the bigger snowflakes but have always gone much faster on the way up. Just curious. Rayan
@JamaisonSchuler
@JamaisonSchuler 3 жыл бұрын
I think if I were doing one snowflake, I’d go faster too. But because this is so intricate with many many different intersections, I felt a slower, more conservative ramp wouldn’t be a bad idea. Might be an overly cautious schedule, but better safe than sorry? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey! Did I see a “hole” between snowflakes in the finished piece? Was that hole there before fusing and/or after your 1st firing? I swear I didn’t see it in the contour fuse. I love the bowl, what a great Christmas gift! But I was just curious about the “void/hole” lol
