No, he could have, but he chose not to. He didn't want to confuse her or jeapordize their friendship. It was easier to tell Tamahome, just to get it off his chest, and then to assure Tamahome that he wouldn't try to make a move on Miaka. They have a kinship as Suzaku 7 warriors who are all tasked with protecting Miaka. Nuriko cares about them both equally and was very smart about this, it's just heartbreaking that Miaka found out anyway just for Nuriko to die shortly after.

@@shilohmoon I think Nuriko can possibly be an endgame for Miaka, assuming Tamahome died instead. However, it would probably take a while till Miaka heals from the heartbreak. There is a possibility that Miaka would run to another seishi instead, so I'd say Nuriko has a chance but with competition. If Nuriko would even become Miaka's partner, it would probably play out like how he route runs in Suzaku Ibun. But for me, I prefer Miaka with Tamahome. I believe Nuriko somewhat dserved better, someone who gave him the attention he needed from the start. It's because Miaka kind of pushed him to the side since she was all over Tamahome. Ah, you saw my old animatic. I made it quite sometime ago. Nuriko is still my favorite Fushigi Yuugi character, however I put him with other characters to watch how he would interact with others. I kinda want to give him a second chance at forming connections since he was dead.

I'm so glad I started watching this anime, I didn't even know what this show was I just happened to find the whole thing on KZbin, and I only watched it cause the quality it was uploaded and I never thought it would be this good but I really like it. There are two fanfiction of that, but in my version I think Tamahome would have died and would have gave nuriko his blessing to pursue miaka. It would obviously be hard for miaka and nuriko would probably blame himself for tamahome Demise. Nuriko obviously wouldn’t dare try to push himself all over miaka because he’s the type to care about boundaries. Mia obviously will remember that time where him and tama we’re in the bar and he confessed his love for her. And that would obviously start a awkward tension between them. And yeah, I’m pretty sure they’ll end up together. Nuriko might have doubts of being a rebound, but yeah.

Yes he has big strength, but he grew up as a girl well protected from wealthy background, hence good at cooking & styling, but never been trained of fighting skills! Plus they knew a vicious monster with mighty power and twice human size out there!!☠️ To fight over such opponents u need much more than strength but strategies! How it'd be totally different if some1 like Tasuki or Chichiri could be there!!! Nuriko could even compete in strength with monster but in the fatal strike he lost in speed! If it were tasuki the flashlight speed well experienced fighter + flames, the monster would have to surrender then run for life! More so, how many times he has saved others especially miaka! He's got best intuition to sense dangers b4hand. Whenever he decided to join miaka he always ended up saving them. Guess nuriko's death is too much to bear; can't get over it...
