Hi, I’m think of covering an ikea chair with some cotton fabric but it is a little light. Would one of these backing work to make this more hardwearing?

Does the fusible fleece need to be caught in the seams? Could it be the batting in a rag quilt without stitching/quilting, or catching in the seams? Which brand are you using?

Hi Anne, it’s normally best not to include wadding or fleece in seams otherwise it would make them too bulky. So although I’ve cut this fleece to the same size as my fabric for demo purposes, in reality you would cut it a little smaller. I can’t remember the brand as this piece was from my stash but I generally buy Vleiseline. I would still quilt a rag quilt, even with fusible fleece, because you still need your layers to stay permanently together. That said, I wouldn’t suggest using fusible fleece for a rag quilt because you want the air pockets created my quilting the batting which wouldn’t happen with the fusible fleece. The air pockets create warmth and make your quilt snuggly ☺️
