Fusion 360 offers a couple of different methods to add a chamfer to your part. We'll look at a couple of CAM chamfer options that work best depending on if your part has the chamfer modeled or if it is being added with a toolpath.

Thanks for this video man. Until now I've been extruding the chamfers flat and using the 2d chamfer toolpath to add them back, lol

Thank you! I was pulling my hair out trying to chamfer a part that the chamfer was already modeled.

I also like that you can use ball cutters for chamfers. I would like to do 3d chamfers with a ball endmill, I'd love a video on that. Thanks!

Great video Kevin....quick question about choosing compensation type. Is it best just to choose IN COMPUTER or can WEAR be used successfully.

2d chamfer works on modeled Chambers if you pick th top face profile edge and leave the chamfer width setting as 0

You can also adjust the heights to get it to work. However, it wasn’t design to work with actual modeled chamfers.

Thanks for showing the difference between the two. BTW, I don't understand why the tool is staying red at 8:08. There should be no collision with the .001 clearance.
@brettrichardson2423
@brettrichardson2423 4 жыл бұрын
The red is showing a Crash, because the simulation is only for tool selected (chamf tool), if the previous tools were simulated the stock would be gone and the simulation would not turn red. :)

If I’m making a pallet for my vise that has 200 holes how would I select all the holes at once or Sketch boundary’s and select 50 at a time to chamfer the holes?

I just tried some things and I don't have any great news for you. I was hoping I could try some trickery to use the drill command to find all the holes and then derive the drill op to a chamfer op, but that didn't work. Is your chamfer tool larger in diameter than the hole you are chamfering? If so, did you know that on a drill command you can set your bottom height to chamfer width or to chamfer diameter? That is about the best I can do for you for a more automated way.

@@MechanicalAdvantage that’s funny you mentioned the drill command! That’s how I was able to accomplish chamfering all the holes! I selected diameter range .2 to .4 which selected all my .25 holes. I then used a 1/2” 82 degree bit which I added to my library. I selected top height at hole top 0 in and bottom height at hole top -0.13 in and this worked beautifully! Thank you sir for your help!

2d contour is a solution, but here you lost the best thing, the collision control you show at the end. So only chamfer operation can do that. Here is the solution: select the UPPER contour, set Chamfer Width to zero, set Chamfer Tip Offset a little more like the deep of the chamfer size, as example 1,5mm if chamfer size is 1mm...and if the simulation is this time good, you see a beautifull chamfer ! Why i wrote if the simulation...? I found out that it is a difference if you jump to the end of an operation or to a operation and let it simulate. Sometimes i got rest material that are not could be. A other bad thing in the Fusion Universe...best regards

Hey guys. I believe I mentioned in the video that you can use 2D chamfer on a chambered edge, but it takes some extra steps to do it. The steps mentioned above. I wanted to keep this video some and probably show how this could be accomplished on chamfers in a later video. Also, what if you didn't have to do those extra steps with 2D chamfer on a chamfered edge? Hmmmm Maybe something coming to a future release? 😊
@HardcoreMusik
@HardcoreMusik 4 жыл бұрын
@@MechanicalAdvantage There are no extra steps, just a little other settings. It will not always work but when it work you will got have the collision control. And because i am writing at the moment...don´t be angry for my comment in the other vid. I like fusion, but sometimes it look they will only optimize this "Alien Structures" (regenerative designs) and noting fixing in cam...have a nice day.
@MechanicalAdvantage
@MechanicalAdvantage 4 жыл бұрын
@@HardcoreMusik Yes, changing those other settings is what I was referring to. If I were mad, I would have deleted your comment. You have to remember that there are more than 5 people working on Fusion. So just because one team is working on Generative design doesn't mean that it will have any impact on what the CAM team is doing. Same with UI changes etc.
