In this special series of tutorials, you will create your own Minifigure. It will be broken into various lessons so that you can learn at a steady pace. Remember, take these tutorials slowly. Design and model according to what you see on the screen. There are so many shortcuts that you'll learn along the way, so it is best to actually model what the tutorial is teaching you.

I am a mechanical designer using these tutorials to get started with Fusion for hobbyist for my personal needs. I have always loved AutoDesk products even though I am a long-term SolidWorks user (2001), and I find Fusion to be a refreshing change of pace so far. Definitely seen some neat features that I wish were implemented in my professional software. I also appreciate the time you are taking to also show learners about basic design concepts. Great job on the material and the presentation. I look forward to moving through the rest of your tutorials. Thank you

I just completed Lesson 10G. Really great lesson and it was satisfying to see all of the parts come together. I guess my question now would be to design all of the parts in one model so that they all fit together. Tolerances etc. We did that on the box with lid a bit. Thanks!

Excellent job! And great question as usual. This tutorial is teaching just one more way of assembling using parts from different files. Designing and assembling within one file is sometimes preferred so that parameters are retained, but in this instance I chose a different route just to teach another skill. The designer sometimes is forced to use several files that need to be inserted into one design, so it’s good to be familiar with both skills.

When I 'Inserted Into Current Design' the 'hips', the top 'plank' of the hips became transparent (or so I thought). I thought and thought, 'Why would the plank become transparent?', and then I realized that I had created that plank with the X axis on the bottom of my plank instead of your having created the X axis on top of the plank (You extruded Down while I extruded Up). So Fusion happily shoved my plank up into the Torso! I then had to think and come up with the simple use of the Z axis in the Move so that it was .085 lower and all was good. In life, we have to make mistakes to learn how to fix them. 🙂 Keep it coming. This is great stuff.

As I started joining the legs I saw two center points right next to each other. It showed an error in my leg design. Went back to the Legs, selected the correct sketch on the time, fixed the tiny error, rest of the part adjusted to the change, and saw the notice in the assembly that my leg design was now outdated and could click to update to the latest version. Great stuff! Thank you so much for all these incredibly effective tutorials.

How do you find the parts in the data panel?
@learnitalready
@learnitalready 6 ай бұрын
Click the little 🏠 icon and then search for your files. You can also click on recent files and find them there too. It’s important to have proper file organization so that you can find them easily next time. Try and create a new project and place all your files into that project folder.

I've created a design and modeled all 26 Scrabble tiles. Each of them is a component. I can't for the life of me find how to start using them to build words that I can Joint together and 3D print. When I open the data panel I just see my Scrabble project, but not the components within.

Hello! Thanks for inquiring. Let’s try and troubleshoot: Step 1) do you have all components in 1 file, or are they individual components in 26 different files? Step 2) can you verify that the bodies and/or components are all visible?

@@learnitalready There is one file with 26 components. The bodies are turned on.

@@learnitalready I see what's happening, I think. First, I need some education on Fusion 360 file structure. I realize now for your minifigure we created a separate file for each part, then brought them together in another file. I have already created one file with 26 components. So I guess I just use that file and start joining tiles, making copies of anything that has a repeated letter?
@learnitalready
@learnitalready 10 ай бұрын
You have a choice: create one file as you’ve described and then insert other projects into that one assembly, or create one project file only and create all your components in that one file. In your instance, it might be a lot easier to just create one project file only. Once you figure this one out, I think you’ll make a huge improvement on understand assemblies. Great job 👏 Keep at it.

@@learnitalready Thanks! So say I want to build the name Tripp. I need to copy/paste the "P" so I'll have two "P" components?
