The only thing I would prefer to see a different behavior, is that it's just a renaming of parameters, so if you change values afterwards you have to favorite them upfront because it will be a nightmare to find them in the model parameters entities later

Interested to know your and your viewers opinions on the latest restrictions on the use of the personal free version of Fusion 360. 3:00 Perhaps a better example would be to suppose the need to sketch an object recently seen from memory, or something appearing in a photograph. Even then, the designer could briefly enable this feature to scale the sketch. Meanwhile, if the designer wants to model an object they're holding in their hand, why wouldn't they measure a few features prior to sketch creation? No doubt your recommendation in this area will generate lots of comments.
@cadcamstuff4 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg, Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm not going to be the judge about what is the best way; I'll let you take that role. You do have a pretty good option to scale when inserting an image into Fusion 360. I just want you to be successful one way or the other :-)

Hey Lars! We are grateful to have you blessing us with your knowledge 😄 random question, I heard that when making a part you should make a component before modeling it. Right now I have an assembly with over 100 different parts that I didn't make into components. I simply inserted them into my drawing. Is this an issue? I would rather not recreate all of these parts. Thanks again!

Lars, 1st let me start by saying welcome back, you have been very missed; 2nd I started watching this video, much earlier than normal for me, and the moment you went up and selected the "Slot" command, my mind suddenly went BOOM, and smoke began bellowing out. LOL. I have been trying to design computer case components out of carbon fiber, using F360 for the virtual design, and have been doing each "punch through" by hand. I am still learning to use CAD, and all these little interjects are so helpful.

When I started out with Fusion and I created a sketch on, say xy, the view would rotate to present that plane straight on. Then something changed and it stopped rotating automatically. It took me months to work out that it was the sketch in 3d tick box that was responsible.
@stephanh10834 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy Timmons, you should check on your Preferences - Design - Auto project geometry on active sketch plane. Checkbox = activ ;-) opps, I ment -> Preferences - General - Design - Auto look at sketch. I had this problem with my sketch, but you wrote that you allready solved it.

Is there a way yet to save parameter presets/favorites, and call them up from different files? For instance if I commonly use a wall thickness parameter, I would like to be able to make this a favorite parameter that I can access from any file then change as necessary. It's time consuming to set up parameters with each new file.

Certainly glad you're back, Lars! I've used Fusion 360 for four years and have yet to use Loft - looks like I need to step up my game. Naming Parameters on the fly is pretty cool, too. I'm curious why you always begin a drawing at the center of the grid; when I do that and later try to move or scale a sketch it seems locked to the center point. So I do most of my sketches in the upper right quadrant. Am I doing something wrong and that's why I can't move or scale a sketch if it's in the center? Thanks! Two things of note - it isn't necessary to click Apply if you're exiting the Preferences dialogue box. Pressing OK accepts the changes and exits the dialogue box. The only reason to click Apply is if you're staying in the dialogue box for other changes, otherwise Ok handles both Accept and exiting the dialogue box. The other thing is on Parameters where you specify how wide the object is; it's Width with a 'd'. :)
@cadcamstuff4 жыл бұрын
Hi David, Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the videos and for your great comment. You are right that when starting the sketch on the origin with the center rectangle, Fusion will automatically insert a constraint. I think it comes down to design intent, so it depends on where you want to end up, so don't feel like you have to do it the same way as me. You are totally right about the Apply vs. OK. That is a bad habit of mine :-) just like I'll never learn how to spell Width Best, Lars
@difalkner4 жыл бұрын
@@cadcamstuff Thanks, Lars! Maybe you can show us how to release the constraint if we use the center for a starting point, assuming you can fit that into one of your future videos.
