For the cut at the base, you can either do a simple cut or you can try doing a split face. This split face would be one of the faces that you select during shelling.

Ran into an interesting design project. I needed to use a Logarithmic Spiral (so non linear growth as it spirals out) as the basis for a design. Short of importing an external DXF any idea on how to do this in Fusion? Linear spirals are easy using the Coil function. The importing of DXF's caused some 'fun' and breakages later in the process. Want to have a bash or give me an idea feel free 😁

I was lost trying to figure out the original shapes, you did a masterful job figuring out this one!

As usual you handle, what is to me, a difficult design quite easily. Thanks a bunch. If I could only remember all these tools (I am 90, memory not very good anymore).

Glad to help. I can't imagine myself living to that age, let alone do CAD at that age. When I look at my audience demographic under youtube analytics, people who are 65 and above form only about 5%. I would imagine that viewers around your age to be exceedingly rare. I do CAD both in my job and as a hobby. I have always regarded CAD as a young man's/woman's game. At the back of my mind, I have always wondered how long I can do this for. You have given me hope that I might still be able to do this at an advanced age. Thank you for leading the way!

Very good way to obtain the end shape. I just copied with similar sketch dimensions. I just subscribed. Thanks.

Your videos are always fantastic .. it'd be good to see an end sign off screen , like a "thanks for watching" instead of the video just abruptly ending ..the adverts just kick in and it's like , oh so thats the end of the video then! .. I genuniely think you are the best most concise Fusion tutor on youtube..absolutley my go to when trying to look somthing up.

I agree. Plus it would give people time to like, save, share the video.

Sorry for the abrupt endings! I have been kind of lazy with that. I will try putting on end cards that link to other videos.

At the end of the process, I am curious can that be flatten into a sheet metal in F360?
@JuanAdam1214 күн бұрын
I think sheet metal only does bends. That curved part in the middle section would be problematic. And I imagine you’d have to sever the connection of one of the legs at the bottom where it attaches to the base.
@catalyst956810 күн бұрын
And how would you produce it? Is there a production tutorial for this piece?
@decryptmars13 күн бұрын
I'd start with a sketch, followed by increasing frustration, followed by a meltdown about how Fusion 360 is still relevant with its core functionalities and UX approach being stuck in the early 2000s.

Couldn't you use a rail on the loft instead of a sweep?

Again, though I know Fusion360, and generally 3D CAD workflow. Was wrong ;-) Thank you.
@magicshon13 күн бұрын
While its a really nice workflow, i cant but be annoyed by the look of the inner (not so) round corners. I would probably do a sharp corner and add a fillet at the next step, i don't see any other way. Well maybe drawing the entire thing on a larger surface and then emboss it or so. But that would be also imprecise and much harder to do.
@Fusion360School13 күн бұрын
Yes, those inner corners do look strange. The sketch needs to be wrapped around that region for it to look right. I own the same microphone and the corners look like that, so it seems like this is how the designer modelled it as well.

@@Fusion360School Thought so, it was not visible in the picture. Its likely easier to manufacture that way also.
