Thank you for diving into these nice features of F360. I already use F360 for a couple of years. Now I understand what low level my experiences are. And there is one amazing thing making me curious. What the hell did you do to make the construction planes being labelled? Never saw it before. 😊😊

I suppose emboss is effectively projecting the sketch onto the surface and extruding perpendicular to it. I wonder if there is value in them adding a tool that just performs the sketch projection?

Great lesson!! It's super helpful that you show all possible appraoches INCLUDING those that don't work perfectly for reference! They can always be useful in some other scenarios.

What would be the difference between boundry fill and stitching everything?

I often use sketches on all 3 axis and then use extrude with intersect function. Lately I was using it to make a copy of RayBan eyeglasses frames I liked at the shop, using photos as canvas.

I don't use the surface tools that much (one reason I enjoy watching you - to be reminded how useful they are), so... why boundary fill instead of stitching in this instance?

Just realised that the previous video I made was over 3 years ago. How time flies! A point to note here. If you use the sketch to make a split face and then perform an offset face, the side walls would be perpendicular to the cylindrical face.

Drawing the curved sweep path on the XY plane stemming Z line path is big brain. I have a hard time intuitively structuring sketches that are supposed to make 3D changes.

At ~ 3:53, would the outcome be the same if we were to extrude the closed profile, and then shell the remaining body? That seems to intuitively fit my workflow.

nice, though it doesn't give you any clearance/tolerance. How would you add an offset for the tolerance in this approach?

I'd start with a sketch, followed by increasing frustration, followed by a meltdown about how Fusion 360 is still relevant with its core functionalities and UX approach being stuck in the early 2000s.

While its a really nice workflow, i cant but be annoyed by the look of the inner (not so) round corners. I would probably do a sharp corner and add a fillet at the next step, i don't see any other way. Well maybe drawing the entire thing on a larger surface and then emboss it or so. But that would be also imprecise and much harder to do.
@Fusion360School
@Fusion360School Ай бұрын
Yes, those inner corners do look strange. The sketch needs to be wrapped around that region for it to look right. I own the same microphone and the corners look like that, so it seems like this is how the designer modelled it as well.

Your videos are always fantastic .. it'd be good to see an end sign off screen , like a "thanks for watching" instead of the video just abruptly ending ..the adverts just kick in and it's like , oh so thats the end of the video then! .. I genuniely think you are the best most concise Fusion tutor on youtube..absolutley my go to when trying to look somthing up.
