When I tell you how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE BLACK HAIR. I have always believed that our hair is the BEST hair. When it is well kept, We can do anything with our hair!! Wash, condition, braid weekly, and it will be as long, healthy and gorgeous as you want it to be. Used to love to wash my daughters hair every Sunday after church and early dinner. They were between my thighs getting their hair combed, braided, twisted or what would come to my mind. We would talk or watch movies together, and bond. Their natural hair was all the way down their backs. Now they're grown woman and hair is in great condition. One of my girls cut her hair and loves her short styles. (almost killed me dead when she cut it) But I love it now. The other one still has her natural hair long, and down her back. Our hair is the best y'all!!

Mine is going great and yes I do have a hair spa day , where my hair gets all the good stuff. Was dealing with crown breakage because of a variety of reasons but with a combination of good practices am overcoming it and the crown is growing to meet the other areas.

I’ve been a natural for over 20 years. I’m going to attempt to learn how to flat twist. I’ve been following you since you started transitioning to natural and have watched your flat twist video. For some reason my left hand and 60+ years of age just don’t want to learn. My hair is very thick and bra length or longer without heat. My protected style is a wash and go. It works for me. I laughed when you said you hate to loose your gray hair doing detangling. That’s all I loose because my hair is completely gray and I’m pleased. I’m going to look at your flat twist tutorial again. I truly have and do enjoy your journey. I hope your mom and family are safe and healthy. How old is your nephew now? I remember him walking in your heels while you do your video. God Bless You. Continue to be your positive self.

Hello penn2pal🙋🏾♀️ You can definitely do it! I've been natural for about 15 years and I never knew how to flat twist or cornrow, I didn't even know what flat twisting was lol. I learned to flat twist from Laila's *How to Flat Twist 101* video back in 2012 and I always recommend that video to anyone that asks about my flat twists. Practice makes perfect, if I remember correctly it took about 2-3 months of trying off and on (and within that time I attempted to flat twist about 8x's) to get the technique down perfectly. I pray that you get the hang of it soon it has help me such much with protective styling. God Bless You, you can do it 👍🏽🙆🏾♀️

Hey! Flat twists are super easy, of you can do a three strand cornrow it's the same thing, just don't pick up the third piece of hair. I hope that helps
@penn2pal4 жыл бұрын
nelly88brady thanks for the feedback. I can french braid/cornrow. My mind and hand just doesn’t want to flat twist. I tried last week and ended with just French braids.
@Mini-rt8bm4 жыл бұрын
Its okay. I'm like you I can cornrow but not flat twist. I just can't. When I do it, I get the twist (some what) but the "flat" is not there. Cornrows last longer for me anyways

My hair journey hmmm.... I am not sure why I have only just come across your channel but it's all good. This is the 3rd time I have gone natural since 2005 and i must say it's not been easy. I am just about getting to grips with it all. I haven't been patient i realise but i am confident that this time round will be different. With all the invaluable tutorials i am following from you, I will be ok. My hair is probably 4 inches when stretched. Low porosity with lots of gray in the front and becoming less at the back. I usually have my hair plaited because it is the easiest way to manage my hair. Since lockdown though, I have grown to love the texture of my hair. I am learning so much about natural hair from you and Green Beauty. You are both God sent. You are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your natural hair experience. It's been awesome.

Your hair looks so soft and moisturized. My hair, however, does not seem to want to hold on to ANY moisture 😭. I deep condition using heat, I use a leave-in conditioner, I moisturize with water & aloe vera and seal with an oil. So tempted to cut it off and start over 😩.
@bevriltaylor46564 жыл бұрын
@Vagan, Sounds like you have high porosity hair. Leave off the heat when you deep condition and lay your cuticles with an ACV rinse after you have rinsed out the deep conditioner. Then proceed with the rest of your routine. Raised cuticles allow moisture to escape as easily as they let moisture in. Hope this helps. I too have high porosity hair.
@MissKeKeBLUE4 жыл бұрын
Your hair might hate aloe vera juice. Aloe vera juice dries my hair out every time.
@clearnite834 жыл бұрын
@@bevriltaylor4656 Thanks for replying. Here's the crux, when I don't sit under the dryer the deep conditioner just sits on top of my strands. Maybe, I will need to sit under the dryer with the conditioner then follow up with an ACV rinse to seal my cuticles. Wash day is tomorrow, so I will give it a try and let you know how it goes. Any deep conditioners that you like? I just bought Camille Rose Algae Renew Deep Conditioning Mask...my first thoughts are meh.
@psmithee14 жыл бұрын
Vagari It looks like aloe and water aren’t providing sufficient moisture for your hair. Aloe is great as a detangling conditioner but it won’t provide enough moisture for extended periods of time. Also, your conditioners may not be “heavy” enough. Try JessiCurl Deep Treatment, mix in a generous amount of coconut oil or another oil of your choice. I use it to detangle, then rinse with cool water. Then I add a small handful of the same mixture to moisturize. Then add a moisturizing cream. And seal with a small amount of butter or oil of your choice. Your hair will look a little white for a few hours, but once it dries, your hair will absorb the moisture and the white “film” will disappear. You can find the conditioner here: www.jessicurl.com/product/deep-conditioning-treatment
@minimalassembly78934 жыл бұрын
You might have buildup. Try a bentonite clay treatment (Redmond’s brand is good) and add Apple Cider Vinegar to the mix with distilled water, then use a natural clarifying shampoo like Kinky-Curly Come Clean. Deep condition afterwards and see if you feel a difference. Works for me every time.
