It took me a few years of practicing and watching it before I got it. First I mastered flat rolling (looks like twists but no interlocking the strands) and then attempted flat twists again and they worked out. You'll definitely get there 😊

I can flat twist other persons' hair; but I have difficulty flat twisting my own. Perhaps because my hair is long and 'tangly'. It just takes too much time to separate and smooth the top section as you did in the first method. It hadn't occured to me to stretch my hair first. Thanks.

At 22, out of sheer boredom and curiosity, I taught myself how to speak Spanish with only an activity workbook and a Spanish/English dictionary... Hey Nicola, it's the exact same thing. once you actually master flat twisting and it comes to you naturally, without overthinking it, you can do it in any direction. How you hold your hands will come down to what is comfortable for you. But trust me, if you struggle to twist up, you haven't graduated yet.
