So this is absolutely my favorite episode of Futurama cause it's sad in the sweetest way. As a younger sibling, it honestly hits me the hardest of all the super emotional ones. Now for a fun fact, the writing on Futurama is pretty accurate science fiction wise, as the writers have several PHDs between them. Like the "Quantum finish" joke. In quantum physics, there is something called the observer effect. It theories that the act of observation or looking at something can affect the behavior of particles. It theorizes particles exist in all possible places at once but only become solid objects when we observe them. In layman's terms, using the electron microscope to see who won did in fact change the outcome of the race.

My two favorite episodes of Futurama are my favorite for the same reason, but this one is #3. This really was a gorgeous episode. EDIT: Actually, I just remembered another one. This might be #4. But really, it's hard to be picky. So many great episodes...

This was the first episode of Futurama my dad watched. He loved the twist ending as well as the song by Simple Minds at the end. After he passed away, I made a video honouring his memory and played it at his wake. I used the same song to be played throughout the video.

Possibly my favourite Futurama episode. Love how the episode tricks you into hating Yancy right up to the reveal. And the excellent detail that the Fry family had the tradition of naming their sons Yancy and it's Fry's brother who breaks that tradition to call his son Philip. Just perfect writing.

Gotta appreciate the artwork on Yancy's wall. *"Philip Fry Age 20."* That heartbreaking scene had a subtle little joke slipped in. Fry at 20 had the artistic skill and intellect of a child 5-10 years old. 🤭 Maybe that had something to do with him being his own grandfather, ya' think? 😅

Be ready for this show to shoot you through the heart in a few episodes. It may be a comedy, but it gets LEGENDARY status for when it wants to touch you. And I dont only mean in the usual Goosh-touches 😜

Glad you like that series, you and I appear to be roughly the same age and I remember fondly watching the pilot on cable tv, first time I could afford cable and it was quite a trip. Also sort of frightening how much of our world turned into what the series describes iin barely 25 years.

The Quantum finish reference. Is actually a very clever joke. When you measure subatomic particles. They behave differently as if they know they're being watched. When you don't watch them they behave differently again. The joke was the professor said no fair you changed the results by measuring it. 😂 I hope that makes sense

OK, not to sound 'self-important', but sometimes I think the universe is 'messing' with me! I LITERALLY just got off the phone with my Father and he yawned at one point. Then I yawned back & mock scolded him, telling him not to do that because "it's contagious"! Then, after hanging up, I watch THIS video & Fry makes the exact SAME joke! WTF? This stuff doesn't happen ALL the time, but it DOES happen to me FAR more than you might think! Creepy.
