fry and leela's relationship is so interesting. i'd actually say it's one of the most interesting parts about this show. it never really goes anywhere serious but they take their dynamic in so many different directions. i think a reason the writers chose not to make their "thing" "official" is because then they would have to draw a hard line in the sand and commit to a specific dynamic between the two, when they would rather have the flexibility to do a lot more with them. i dunno just the way i see it.

What I've never understood is how Bubblegum Tate justifies making the rest of the Planet Express crew honorary Globetrotters, while rejecting Bender on the basis that he's not funky enough 😂 If Bender isn't funky enough, I don't think any of the other crew members are! By the way, in the final couple of scenes Bender was whistling "Sweet Georgia Brown", which is the signature song of the Harlem Globetrotters.

I wonder if he realized yet, that Fry is last name, and Leela is also the last name, so for a brief moment she was Turanga Fry.

Actually, Turanga is Leela's surname. She uses surname-first name order. So she would've become either Leela Fry or Fry Leela. Or she could have used a blended name, like Turanga Leela Fry. Of course, that's assuming she took his surname at all; she might not have. Maybe Fry even took _her_ surname, becoming Turanga Philip J. Fry!
