Sick drums, especially on Slipsteam Skyway and Spectre Selector!

Yeah man your compositions rock! Reminds me of ape escape a little! I have an Op1-F as well and find it difficult to sequence drums. What’s ur drum sequencing workflow? Which sequencers do u use?

@@pwnisher thanks so much! For drums I primarily use the Finger sequencer but for melodies and chords I’m usually using Endless. A little of the sequencing on this album was done via MIDI with a Dirtywave M8 Tracker hooked up via a WIDI jack over BLE like the bass in the first track. I find meticulous use of the Finger sequencer to be the best way to get good drums imho because you can change between patterns and execute fills etc when you are recording to tape

@@DisposablePlanet I’d love to see a demo of thst Finger sequencer workflow.

It’s pretty easy to explain. I doubt I’ll ever get around to making demos of my workflow with the OP-1 as I’m way too shy to talk on my YT channel. But basically prepare a few variations of patterns on the finger sequencer and then jam between them making sure to hit the beats by using the keyboard. I’m pretty sure once you have a pattern on the finger sequencer you can paste it to another slot and then make variations. Take advantage of the polyphony and practice a bit before you commit to tape

Thanks, that’s what I figured, though I had no idea you could copy and paste patterns. That would make it much easier, omg. (Also if there’s some way to audition sounds without exiting the sequencer mode.)

@@DisposablePlanet omg, just finding out lift and drop work to copy/paste patterns. Thanks for the tip.

What are the benefits/ cool features of the OP-1? I always see it being used but I never understood the advantages of it? :-) I am very basic with my music making, I use my iPad with Garageband and I recently bought a hydrasynth explorer. I'd love to know, thanks!

@@ratmclovin it has a very appealing way of being a delight to compose music on as well as having a lot of whimsical and fun sound design options. Add to that the portability and it’s a great tool for making tunes, especially if you appreciate the kind of sounds you can get out of the device. That said the tape workflow can be frustrating at times because you need to perform or sequence all the parts perfectly in order to commit them to tape. But I always appreciated its small form factor and ability to make chill or cute music, both of which I am into coming from a background in chiptune and other video game inspired music. Hope this helps
