Man such a great car and the manual makes it so much better too!

Definitely. Such a pleasure to drive. Now we need manuals on TRD trucks and SUVs!

I could see it possibly being popular with BMW enthusiasts in 10 years, but not Toyota or JDM enthusiasts. I can see them doing BMW rebadging kits for this car.

I originally thought this as well, but with Toyota moving towards 3 cylinder turbo charged cars and the only high end V6/V8 car rumored to come out from them (Lexus) in the next year few years costing well over $100,000+ being the GT4 car spied, V6 turbo charged cars will very soon be a thing of the past. Enjoy these days because they won’t be around forever. Toyota and other companies don’t make money from sports “enthusiast” car’s primarily. They make money from sedans and SUV’s. The BMW Toyota collaboration was a low cost higher reward for Toyota after MKIV sales tanked in the 90’s and LFA sales were garbage.

@@chrisginoc The BMW Z4 is not a good GT car, which makes it a bad Supra. It's an abomination with harsh ride quality, electronic steering, and fake engine noise piped-in through the interior speakers. Nobody's going to be looking back on an uncomfortable isolation chamber of a sports/GT car thinking "Wow, I should get one". Enthusiasts look for the best driving experience for their money, and this is not it. You could buy 5 cars at $10K each, and each of them individually would be more fun to drive than 1 "MK5 Supra" BMW Z4.
@chrisginoc5 ай бұрын
@@sptauto Then go buy something else. I still haven’t anyone who has driven a MKV auto or manual who got out of it and said this is trash. You win.
@sptauto5 ай бұрын
@@chrisginoc All you really experience driving a Z4 is visually seeing the objects outside going by faster and then accelerative, cornernering, or braking g-forces. The rest of he car is devoid of much detail, and it isn't comfortable over long distances (Car and Driver magazine called the ride harsh). It's only considered quick because there's no competition in the space anymore. Enthusiasts know you can put $20K into a $2K Civic that'd run 10-second quarter-miles, and that a $50K base price BMW Z4 takes 12-seconds to pass through the quarter-mile, even though it costs $30K more without options. You could also buy a nice C5, C6, or C7 Corvette for that money, and depending on which you choose could have a lot left over for mods. All of which would be much faster and more rewarding to drive vehicles.

People who trash these have never driven one. I’m not going to take the opinion about the lack of TRD soul from a kid driving his mom’s used Camry. I owned 4 Toyotas or Lexus with the 2JZ in them including a MK4 2 SC300 and a GS300. They were nice but were all fairly soft (steering, breaking, acceleration and handling). They were smooth and reliable while being attractive. Their rep comes from falling in price and being easy to work on esp the pre VVTI engines. Who cares who built the exotic looking Rwd inline 6 couple that weigh 3300 pounds. Enjoy it while you can I own a MK5 now with the 6speed and I prefer it to any Toyota product out currently save for the LC500 which was ruled out due to its auto.

11:05 They sell every Supra they make. The sales has nothing to do with the desirability. It has to do with the amount of B58 engines BMW will allocate for Toyota and dealer markups. If they had 5 of these on the lot and had them at MSRP they would go. In 2023 the dealership where I got my GR Corolla at MSRP said they received 0 Supras. By comparison they received 3 GRCs.

I will never understand why Toyota sold its soul and legacy of the Supra to BMW.

It's a BMW Z4. An isolation chamber of a GT car that was never originally intended for enthusiasts, hence it originally only being available with an automatic. It's not even comfortable over long distances, which makes it a bad GT car as well, and not a proper Supra. Harsh German ride quality ("The ride is too harsh and gets tiring after a while" - Car and Driver magazine), electronic steering, and fake engine noise piped-in through the interior speakers. They'll never be considered a classic among hardcore enthusiasts. Just the d-bags who drive them trying to project an image of success outwards and don't care about getting the best driving experience for their money.

You sound like a massive hater who knows nothing about what he’s saying. It’s meant to be a sports car more so than a GT car. It’s not based on a fucking Toyota Soarer like the mk4 so it deviates from the typical GT car agenda of the past 2+2 coupes.
