I have an r1100s. The best way i can put it is its not excellent at anything but it does everything well. It does a track day but it also can do 200 mile touring. I personally enjoy the fact thats its very versatile and reliable.

The R1200S is just 100% different to a R1100S. I sold my R1100S in beginning of this year and since 2 months I have a R1200S. The R1200S is way more sportive. Also you have to handle it with more care in gear 1-3, also when it comes to the breaks you have to be a bit more careful. But the bike deffinitely isn't as comfortable as the R1100S.

@@brazilgerojim9634 Καλησπέρα! Αυτή που είχα βρει (επίσης στο car) ήταν στα 6.500 € περίπου μαύρο χρώμα και 29 χιλ. χλμ περίπου. Μοντέλο με ABS του 2009 χωρίς Ohlins. Πραγματικά πολύ όμορφη μηχανή. Εύχομαι να έχεις καλά χιλιόμετρα και να την χαρείς!

@@thanos_mav Μεγάλη υπόθεση τα Ohnlins να ξέρεις. Εγώ τα έχω οδηγήσει και με Ohnlins & χωρίς γενικά όμως να σε βάλω στο κλίμα. Έχω ένα Aprilia RSV Mille 2001 , έχει δυναμομετρηση στα 124 άλογα τροχό. Το R1200S είναι ζήτημα να έχει 95-100 άλογα τροχό. Την ίδια διαδρομή με το R1200S την κάνω πολύ πιο εύκολα & γρήγορα , γιατί; Είναι απίστευτα εύκολο, όλο αυτό το σύστημα, στήσιμο , αναρτήσεις, ροπές , και το μοτέρ αυτό δίνει πολύ Fun to drive . Με κλειστά μάτια ότι βρεις στα 5.500 πάρτο , είναι τρομερά καλή μοτοσυκλέτα & ας είναι και το απλό στην τελική. Και κατά καιρούς μπαίνει ένα αγγελία και μέσα σε λίγες ένα δύο μήνες εξαφανίζεται. Δεν θα κλάψεις τα λεφτά. Τώρα τι να πεις ? Sports TOURING, Cafe racer ? & Εάν πετύχεις και τα δύο χρώματα κόκκινο ασημί μοιάζει και με Replica. Με κλειστά μάτια κάποιος που θέλει ένα τέτοιο στυλ μηχανάκι. Και πάνω από όλα, αερόψυκτο

An excellent review of a lovely bike. I had one of these bikes in my own BMW collection along side the HP2 sport, I still have the HP2 but foolishly sold the R12S. I used to ride the R12S and HP2 back to back and can honestly say as a road bike I found the R12S superior to the HP2, a lot smoother and a better mannered bike. In fact I thought the R12S was the perfect sports bike for U.K. roads. I completely agree with your thoughts about the bike, being a real landmark bike for BMW with a lot of engine modifications unique to that model, but sadly completely misunderstood by the buying public. Perhaps considered to be too sporty and extreme by R11S riders, and also having a boxer cup replica I can understand those concerns, however especially in BCR form with its raised GS suspension the R11S is also a superb sporty machine which feels so well planted and stable once it’s up to speed. And at the same time the R12S was considered too heavy and down on horsepower by 1000cc Japanese sport bike riders, with magazine reviewers commenting it was “only “as fast as a Japanese 600, completely missing the point of this bike. I too think these will become collectible bikes, though probably only amongst those of us who are fans of BMW and it’s history, rather than the mainstream, but either way I can see prices rising.

I have a black R1200S since 2014. Can't part with this bike. Simply enjoy the qurikiness as you explain but also its handling for such an aged bike.

i had the luck to enjoy this bike from 2009 til 2020 - modified with Zard exhaust, lots of carbon fibre and re-painted in original BMW pacific blue emtallic (see my avatar)....great bike and powerful....

Great videos! Subscribed! I watched also your NineT racer video. I love the look of both 1200s and ninet racer. I am going to try a 1200s soon, even though it is 10 years older I feel it is more bike given much better suspension, more power and more relaxed riding. What do you think? Usage will be mostly weekend rides and maybe occasional track with limited city riding. Thanks!

@@ozan_gunaydin thank you 🙏 The 1200s is a much friendlier bike, more bike, you can spend more time on it without fatigue. Very sporty motor being the forerunner to the BMW HP2 Sport. The only quirk being the indicators. The RnineT Racer is a gem, and you’ll love it around a track. However handlebar risers are a must should you want to go on weekend rides, then she is very livable…..

Thank you for this review along with the history! I'm looking at buying a r1100s, but i don't find them sporty enough. And the hp2 is way too expensive (and valuable to casually ride). Now i start looking at the r1200s. There are 2 black one's and a aquafresh for sale nearby. One black has a normal steer instead of clipons, do you think it will do good to the riding style? Also with a lot of these bikes the maintenance history is not complete due to their age and switching from owner to owner in the years. To be able to see if the motor had the right maintenance in time is so important.

I miss the one I had. I bought it new and I rode it hard. It was the easiest bike to maintain. You could sit on the ground and set the valves. It would stay with and leave most in the twistiest.

I am super passionate about anything motorcycle related, collect, have raced a bit (but more cars and karts) and am doing this channel currently as a pure hobby and passion thing. I am blessed to travel internationally and that’s for me cool to share and take you along like I did with World Ducati Week last year for example. I am currently trying to acquire a warehouse to start a small scale museum as I have I’ve 50 special bikes in my private collection…..and yes then I will start sharing that journey on the channel too and can do more regulars and comparisons. I never payed to much attention to BMW and in the past year I bought an i3 (car) and this bike. Just because they are unique and quirky in all the right ways. Seems like in the 00’s they just let the engineers lose and do what they do best and they created some truly amazing creations.
