You'd have to include various planetary disasters, pandemics, wars and other setbacks - if there is a singularity, it won't be available to everyone, no matter how inclusive it gets - there'll always be some that reject the dominant paradigm. This scenario completely leaves out the cussedness of things and the vagaries of human nature, otherwise called Murphy's Law.

Neuralink will allow us to merge our minds with AI. Don't underestimate how rapid AI superintelligence will come! We live in an incredibly important part of history.
4 ай бұрын
If true self-aware superintelligent AI gets created, it probably won't be that long before it makes factory-like places where all humans get rolled thru and get a connection stamped into us. Ooooh won't it be grand, soon nothing natural left. Our consciousnesses will become artificial, we won't understand reality the same way anymore. Not unlikely that some will go crazy. And of course, millions (heh billions more likely) of "useless" will probably hang in the balance, life-wise. It will be soooo cozy. :) Until all life gets virtualized and terminated ofc.

Disagree, it’s the critical thinking intellectuals who are concerned the most about the possible negative implications of increasingly pervasive tech. Not necessarily ‘scared’ but cautious given that a single ‘mistake’ could literally decimate humanity physically, mentally or both. Until humanity reaches some type of utopian Spiritual nirvana where corruption, greed and evil is eradicated this envisioned ‘perfect world’ is pure fantasy.

The limitations of physics present a formidable barrier to faster-than-light travel. Even approaching the speed of light would require immense energy, pushing the boundaries of known possibilities. The concept of warping spacetime, while intriguing, remains purely theoretical at this point. Thus, interstellar voyages will likely remain confined to the realm of science fiction for the foreseeable future. Humanity's exploration of the cosmos must rely on ingenuity within the confines of natural laws.

Considering this got me wondering: is there a way to leverage the disruption of entanglement as a way to "transmit" a single bit? When entanglement is broken, the receiving end interprets this as a 1. If entanglement is maintained, read a 0? Sure, you would have to entangle anywhere from dozens to trillions upon trillions, depending on the size of the data, but that just means the issue is one of scale at that point. Hoping that someone that understands all this can chime in

Personally I could see something like what happened in the matrix only instead it would be by choice like people allowing the own electrical pulses being used as payment to help run society

It is not possible to know the speed of innovation beyond ASI (the so called intelligence sungularity). For this reason timelines are unknown. What is likely is that it will happen far more quickly than most people imagine. Even so, assuming that Physics itself will be so malleable is a stretch. Will it be incredible? Absolutely.

quantum entanglement would tear apart the entire fabric of spacetime. Actually re creating its effects just isnt safe or feasible. One uncontrolled quantum reaction would have a devastating ripple effect

We better get tech to knock away all the stuff that can hit us from space 1st. This could be where we ended up if given the chance but more days I live and see I just don't know if we have the ability to put our petty differences aside and take care of each other so we can do these things. Our egos, money and power always get in the way.

How many civilizations in the far distant past had thought of that endeavour? And yet, here we are, proud little things, using what left of their remains as fuel to barely survive until the clock sets back once again. How foolish are we, thinking we can beat time at its own game.

Way too ambitious and optimistic. It will take us until 2070 to have half the things presented in 2040 on here. Disappointing.
